Sheaf Saint Posted yesterday at 08:12 Posted yesterday at 08:12 Another one seemingly out of nowhere. Yet another classic SR signing on the face of it. 1

SW11_Saint Posted yesterday at 08:26 Posted yesterday at 08:26 More “future promise”…. It’s getting a bit deflating. 1

Roo1976 Posted yesterday at 08:31 Posted yesterday at 08:31 Wow ,never heard of him either, nor the fella from Boro, mind you i wasn't paying too much attention it has to be said on teams performances in the championship last season,so lets see, another potential......!! hope hes not another Lesley from Chelsea type effort. Surprised Aribo not being touted for a move/loan back to that well known footballing giant Rangers,(RM) what a job hes doing up there BTW...
skintsaint Posted yesterday at 08:31 Posted yesterday at 08:31 Like the look of him and exactly a position we need to strengthen, was part of the German U21 team that lost to England. 2
Saint_clark Posted yesterday at 08:33 Posted yesterday at 08:33 Looks like a third player to compete with Charles and Downes, good tackler and passer. Would be happy with this. 2

In fairness, we signed Matty as a 'future promise' kind of signing, he came highly rated after a loan to Estoril, but really having only played in the Sporting U21s. Similar vibes to this one 7
qwertyell Posted yesterday at 08:36 Posted yesterday at 08:36 We're really going all in on the idea that Bundesliga 2 promise is better value than Championship promise. Financially, I'm sure it makes sense - there's some outrageously overpriced dross in England. But does cheaper mean better on the pitch (where it actually counts)? Good luck to him. Whoever the fuck he is. 3
CB Fry Posted yesterday at 08:38 Posted yesterday at 08:38 This is the kind of signing I was expecting Spors to be making all summer. Hopefully he makes a better immediate impact than Damion Downs. 4

Agree with this and he may well offer more dynamism and flair to the role that certainly Downes doesn’t bring - i.e. I think Still has had to settle with Downes and his lack of a pass forward - one of the players steeped in Martinball and finding it difficult to adjust to the new demands. Must admit, never heard of the guy, but that’s not to say he’s not the next best thing.

Oh no Mick Mills Posted yesterday at 08:49 Posted yesterday at 08:49 Last season in 2. Bundesliga. His stats were. 32 games. 3 goals. 9 assists. A number 8 to compete with Charles and Downes. To replace Smallbone and Aribo ( If they depart). 3

Similar vibes to this one Very good point. Most of the best championship players - the ones we might want to sign now like Azaz, Rudoni - were `future promise' before they joined their current championship club and shined. Looking at his recent history, he started pretty much every game for 1.FC Nuremberg. Not all the players we have been linked with have been regulars, which is a slight concern if they are not playing in the top leagues. 3

Chez Posted yesterday at 08:55 Posted yesterday at 08:55 (edited) Watching his youtube video of when he played for Duisburg, he's very right footed, and I mean only right footed. He loves to keep the ball that little bit longer than normal - and I mean that in a good way - he is very comfortable with the ball. He seems to roam around the pitch (appears deep and makes runs beyond), so isn't a defensive holding player, but he will drop deep to collect and start moves. He doesn't look like he is a big physical specimen or a good tackler, he's more of a Fernandes type - a ball player, with good technique, that can dribble and pass. He's a fun watch. Unfortunately the step up to premier league is getting bigger so any promotion would mean a huge outlay to try and stay up.
Bakovnetski Posted yesterday at 09:15 Posted yesterday at 09:15 Looks nailed on for 3 red cards this season 1
Chez Posted yesterday at 09:16 Posted yesterday at 09:16 Alfie House is happy to report it as done based on that Florian Pettenberg tweet https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25422275.southampton-agree-deal-sign-germany-under-21-international/

Not easy to find gems that bigger clubs gazump you on, so this german league 2 knowledge we see to have may be fruitful, at leats for a while. Time will tell. 2

A lot of these names are striking me as players that Still had identified at his previous club and asked Saints to take a look at since coming in. 1

Would Will Still be the guy that knows the Bundeslinga 2? Three players bought from there now and at least one or two more linked.

What with big clubs hoarding U21s, tempting players to join even at that stage, it’s extremely difficult to try a build a squad to challenge for promotion and then provide a platform to stay up. 1

I might be wrong, but it feels like managers and head coaches are involved less and less in the scouting/recruiting side of things. The focus is on the players they have and the games/opponents coming up
Turkish Posted yesterday at 09:46 Posted yesterday at 09:46 Again, no one has heard of him but someone put a scouting type report on the transfer thread and if accurate he looks very good. tipped to make the German squad within 2 years. Not a sexy signing but appears to be another good one 2
Give it to Ron Posted yesterday at 09:48 Posted yesterday at 09:48 Had a good feeling from the beginning, data and development was already top. One of the most important players currently and I dare the prognosis: In 2 years national player - translated from one German forum

Give it to Ron Posted yesterday at 09:51 Posted yesterday at 09:51 Are we sure our scouts aren’t dyslexic- apologies dyslexics:-) and we meant to sign Carsten Janker even though 51?

goodymatt Posted yesterday at 09:51 Posted yesterday at 09:51 I Jander if this guy is expected to start, 12m euros is a big fee to be on the bench. Good to add competition to Flynn and Shea. 1

HarvSFC Posted yesterday at 09:57 Posted yesterday at 09:57 So, is this guy going to be our 2025 Schneiderlin? Hopefully without the poor first year in the Championship. 1
Saint_lambden Posted yesterday at 09:58 Posted yesterday at 09:58 Completed 9/9 long balls attempted in his last match so will fit in to the system well. Brilliant tackler and dictates play from deep. Just what we need in the middle and some proper competition for Downes at last. 6
