E_H_Saints Posted Monday at 22:21 Posted Monday at 22:21 What I like most about this game is that I'm excited by it. Right or wrong for the job as least Tonda has done that. He has done it on his own way as well. It will be a test but a few weeks ago we would be dreaming for a win, hoping for a draw and annoyingly expecting a loss. He has at least instilled some pride and and excitement for this game. The players will be up for it. Either that or we lose and we all crash back down to reality. I'll hope for the win. 13
madge Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Tondas first real test. Let’s see where we are after tonight. 7
sockeye Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Actually quite excited for this one now given recent results. can he make it four on the bounce? Well, maybe, but the performance is probably more important than the result. If this run continues I would struggle to argue against Tonda getting the job permanently. Scienza to score. 1

Dusic Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Downes and THB one yellow away from a ban. Resets after the Birmingham game I think. Pretty sure 3 of the 4 Downes has got have been dissent!
M271 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I just hope that the Charlton match wasn’t a false dawn performance wise and is the sign of better things to come rather than a one off. The next 2 matches in quick succession will indicate have things really changed or not. 6 1

Not sure performance is more important than the result. Perhaps from the point of view of whether we give Tonda the job or not, but come April, the three points we ight get here will be all that matters. Leicester are a step up in terms of individual quality from Charlton. At this level they are a pretty tidy side. We are not going to brush them aside. Obviously some free flowing football at home would be a revelation, but grinding out a victory is fine by me. Stopping them score from set pieces and/or on the break might not be sexy, but that's where this game will be won. 2

We must, must exploit that with some quick through-balls like we saw at Charlton. He's got the turning circle and acceleration of an oil tanker. Get Arma to come deep and draw him out and get Leo running past him, he won't stand a chance. 4

Chez Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 22 minutes ago, suewhistle said: I don't think Wouts-is-name is particularly fast either? He's a donkey. Add Pereira's dodgy hamstrings into the mix and no senior left back available and you have a back four that we can get at if we play well. That said, Skipp and Winks will probably play quite deep, so that might make things difficult. Also, we need to be careful they don't suck us in and hit us on the break, which is how they did things two seasons ago against most sides. 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 3-1 to saints Can’t ignore how brilliant we were on sat, surely we have found a formula that works. 2

whelk Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Midweek games at home haven’t filled me with any anticipation of joy for sometime. Really looking forward to this now and not looking for an excuse to stay at home and watch on tv. Although will be disappointed if we aren’t 4-0 up after 20 mins Edited 10 hours ago by whelk 1
suewhistle Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Just gone past St Mary's on the train with the sun glinting off the water. Please don't let us down Saints, and can I see a win and a few goals for the cost of my season ticket? It's been PP value for a few years now. 3

Toussaint Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Normally I'm delusionally optimistic, but I'm worried about tonight. Its Leicester for a start. We will go a goal up then "Hologram hands Baz" will throw one in and we will get caught in possession fannying around at the back. 1-3. They have much better players than our last three opponents and we just wont get away with so much. 2

Tommy Mulgrew Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Just been on the Foxes’ forum. It took until all of the third post for the 9:0 to be mentioned. Best bits were: Itchen to see this one; a Test against an improving side, Shirley not; Hedging my bets; it won’t be Eastleigh; Southampton play three at the back with a packed midfield; they (us) are a pessimistic bunch. So are they (pessimistic): most expect a bruising game and a draw at best; few posters expect to win. Manager seems unpopular, no surprises there. The future’s bright … . coys

Willo of Whiteley Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Leicester are a wildly different team without Vardy. Give Fatawu and Mavididi a few kicks and they’ll retreat.
davefizzy14 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 3-1 to us 😊 Scienza, Adam Armstrong and Azaz to score - COYR 😊

Willo of Whiteley Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Never thought I’d say this but I wish Stephens was playing 4 1 1
Maggie May Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Sorry but Quarshie is going to be given the run around today. 1
TheSoundman Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Once OR is fully fit and able to play the steadying influence role, JS won't even get on the bench. 2
Nolan Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Vestergaard is 6 foot 6, Quarshie is 6 foot 5. that's the reason I'm placing on that selection
Scoobysaint Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Quarshie obviously in for his pace, and secondly height. He has shown glimpses of quality with occasional rawness (f**k ups). Hoping tonight he just keeps it simple, no overplaying. My greater concern is Flynn Downes back in. Too often he is the handbrake in our attacks, playing simple wall passes back to the CB instead of looking forward and being positive. Will be interesting to see how he plays this evening. Edited 6 hours ago by Scoobysaint Another thought 4

TheSoundman Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It's the way he completely misses his kick sometimes that gets me. Other than that there's a player in there.
