What I like most about this game is that I'm excited by it.  Right or wrong for the job as least Tonda has done that.  He has done it on his own way as well. It will be a test but a few weeks ago we would be dreaming for a win, hoping for a draw and annoyingly expecting a loss.  He has at least instilled some pride and and excitement for this game.  The players will be up for it.

Either that or we lose and we all crash back down to reality.

I'll hope for the win.

Actually quite excited for this one now given recent results.

can he make it four on the bounce?

Well, maybe, but the performance is probably more important than the result.

If this run continues I would struggle to argue against Tonda getting the job permanently.

Scienza to score.

Downes and THB one yellow away from a ban. Resets after the Birmingham game I think.

Pretty sure 3 of the 4 Downes has got have been dissent!

I just hope that the Charlton match wasn’t a false dawn performance wise and is the sign of better things to come rather than a one off. The next 2 matches in quick succession will indicate have things really changed or not.

Wrexham - yellow for a foul.
Portsmouth - yellow for a foul
Derby - yellow for a foul
QPR - yellow for dissent

Northampton - yellow for a foul

Not sure performance is more important than the result. Perhaps from the point of view of whether we give Tonda the job or not, but come April, the three points we ight get here will be all that matters.

Leicester are a step up in terms of individual quality from Charlton. At this level they are a pretty tidy side. We are not going to brush them aside. Obviously some free flowing football at home would be a revelation, but grinding out a victory is fine by me. Stopping them score from set pieces and/or on the break might not be sexy, but that's where this game will be won.

Vestergaard guaranteed to be starting then.

We must, must exploit that with some quick through-balls like we saw at Charlton. He's got the turning circle and acceleration of an oil tanker. Get Arma to come deep and draw him out and get Leo running past him, he won't stand a chance.

I don't think Wouts-is-name is particularly fast either?

He's a donkey. Add Pereira's dodgy hamstrings into the mix and no senior left back available and you have a back four that we can get at if we play well. That said, Skipp and Winks will probably play quite deep, so that might make things difficult. Also, we need to be careful they don't suck us in and hit us on the break, which is how they did things two seasons ago against most sides.

But what that doesn't tell you is that the yellow card was shown because Downes was disputing the foul in the first place!

Midweek games at home haven’t filled me with any anticipation of joy for sometime. Really looking forward to this now and not looking for an excuse to stay at home and watch on tv. Although will be disappointed if we aren’t 4-0 up after 20 mins

Just gone past St Mary's on the train with the sun glinting off the water. Please don't let us down Saints, and can I see a win and a few goals for the cost of my season ticket? It's been PP value for a few years now.

Normally I'm delusionally optimistic, but I'm worried about tonight. Its Leicester for a start. We will go a goal up then "Hologram hands Baz" will throw one in and we will get caught in possession fannying around at the back. 1-3. They have much better players than our last three opponents and we just wont get away with so much.

Tondas first real test. Let’s see where we are after tonight.

It is, he's done exceptionally well to get the three wins, I don't thing WS would have got much or anything from those games given the trajectory we were on. Leicester are a different level.

At least the prick that is Jamie Vardy won't score against us for the first time in what seems about 10 years.

Quite: I hate Leicester and that count Vardy with a passion. Bastards.

Just been on the Foxes’ forum.  It took until all of the third post for the 9:0 to be mentioned.  Best bits were: Itchen to see this one; a Test against an improving side, Shirley not; Hedging my bets; it won’t be Eastleigh; Southampton play three at the back with a packed midfield; they (us) are a pessimistic bunch.  So are they (pessimistic): most expect a bruising game and a draw at best; few posters expect to win.  Manager seems unpopular, no surprises there.

The future’s bright … .

I have images of a Leicester midfield of philosophers, bishops, and wise old men.

There's a monty python sketch for that.

Very much hoping the Charlton game wasn’t a false performance.

Weirdly optimistic about tonight, and I’ve not even looked at the pre-match build up of us or the opposition yet.

Mad!

Nah I'm not having it, we've been here before many times,  recall going to Palace when they had no fit centre backs and losing 1-0, anyway these Leicester absences include players they "don't like to risk in midweek games" , I'm sure they'll have a decent back 4 out on the pitch, certainly as good as our calamity back 5

Ah the classic. Saints should beat team x due to their injuries.....but somehow Saints never do.

Ah the classic, read to much into a post on a message board.

It's just a fun excuse to put a stupid gif up.

Not a dig at you, always love a good gif.

More a sigh at Saints hardly ever taking advantage.

No Stephens? Didn't see that coming

Points for Eckert for dropping him if he feels Quarshie is the better fit tonight. Downes in for Bragg. More of the same please Saints.

Quarshie obviously in for his pace, and secondly height.  He has shown glimpses of quality with occasional rawness (f**k ups). Hoping tonight he just keeps it simple, no overplaying.
My greater concern is Flynn Downes back in. Too often he is the handbrake in our attacks, playing simple wall passes back to the CB instead of looking forward and being positive. Will be interesting to see how he plays this evening.

Vestergaard is 6 foot 6, Quarshie is 6 foot 5.

that's the reason I'm placing on that selection

Quarshie is fast, our other centre backs aren't. He hopefully helps deal with Leicester's attacking pace in a way Stephens couldn't.
