This is what we were hoping to see from this bunch of players from the beginning of the season. I get the impression that Will Still wasn't popular with the players, and that your players seem more relaxed since WS left. 2

bpsaint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago This is mental, it’s nice being able to enjoy watching us for a change. Relegation battle to 2 points off the playoffs in a matter of weeks with the same squad. Were they purposely under performing or was Will Still just a shit manager.

Given a few nods from the press about the ‘detail’ in the training sessions I’d suggest the latter. 1

sockeye Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago We're looking phenomenal, I hate to be negative, but it feels like when you're having such a good dream you're just waiting to wake up ... 😁 Playing so well, taking our chances, getting forward with ferocity P.S. Foxestalk makes good half time reading 😁 1
pingpong Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Still's tactics and formation finally coming good, he is unlucky it didn't click whilst he was Still here, but then again, he wasn't picking the right goalkeeper, so maybe that came back to bite him, it's hard to dominate games when you have McCarthy slowing everything down. Funny that people on here were apoplectic about still creating the rwb role for Fellows, turns out he just needed a couple of games to learn the position. 1 2

saintant Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Is Steve McClaren still in the frame? Asking for a friend. 1
Scoobysaint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) For me, the big difference is the first pass into the midfield. It going Wood, to THB and then the pass inside to Jander or Downes. The next pass under previous managers would have been back to Wood without any thought of attacking. Now we are looking to get the ball forward to Fellows, Azaz, Arma or Leo. They have been doing some quality training on this aspect, night and day to Still and Russball. Actual attacking intent. Fellows is t getting the ball stationary, he can run on to the ball and already be in the pole position. We are really committing players forward, not just the odd one or two. Great to watch. We are clearly a bit more solid in the middle of the park (Azaz and Leo tucking in when we do not have the ball), we are clearly not just fucking hoofing it to Arma 1

Funny thing is that for the first 20 minutes or so Leicester were threatening. A bit of luck with the first goal not being ruled out for offside. After the Baz save it’s been an attacking procession. Once again it’s been the Scienza, Fellows, Armstrong, Azaz show with Harwood-Bellis’ assistance. Manning has his limitations but that wonderful left foot is a big asset. This is dreamland stuff. We’ve definitely owed Leicester a thrashing…..let’s hope it is one. 2
SNSUN Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Even at 3 nil up and a player advantage, on top of playing well and against THAT defence, the Saints fan of 36 years in me would still like another goal or two, just to make sure. 😁 6

Still had him playing way too deep so he was always starting deep in our half. Eckert encourages the wing backs to get high up the pitch and the difference is night and day. 1
inspectorfrost Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago And so much of the improvement has been basics and common sense. You can see Tonda's looked at the teenager Aluko and just told Fellows to run at him whenever he gets the ball, 30 mins later he's picked up two yellows. It's like the midfielders when receiving the ball have been told to either run or pass forward as quick as possible like Tonda's been waving an air rifle on the training pitch, opening fire at anyone who passes it sideways or backwards. All just wonderfully direct and fast-paced attack. Back 4 look organized and as a big critic of him fair play to Baz for the save at 1-0. 3

Mboto Gorge Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago We owe them an absolute hammering, would be lovely to get 2 or 3 more. It’s very possible if we play this right in the second half.

Smatt48 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago The strangest feeling for me is being EXCITED when the ball goes midfield and our players are looking to go forward with it? I can’t remember the last time a Saints team was this exciting to watch and not just auto pass backwards 3

The fact Sports Republic stood by Martin for so long last season then ditched Still immediately after one game where the fans were chanting against the board shows how narcissistic and weak minded they are. 1 1 1
