I would bring Bragg in for Downes as he was outstanding last Saturday 😊 and bring Romeu on in the second half 😊 If Downs is injured and not available, I would like to see Oyekunle on the bench 😊

This will be an interesting test for Eckert if Leo cannot play tomorrow. You'd expect that at some stage of the season we will be without one or more of Leo, Azaz and Fellows due to injury (or illness), especially when you see the sort of treatment Leo, in particular, is getting from opposition defenders. 

All managers have to deal with injury problems - Alex Neill at Millwall being a prime example. It will be fascinating to see how (or if) Tonda adapts the style of play if he is forced into replacing Leo as well as Downes tomorrow. We do have a big squad so he does have options open to him - let's see how he deals with it!

Robinson is the obvious substitute, and pretty effective to. However it's an intense position to play in. Frazer will probably act as back up.

Of course Dibling would have been perfect, but he is of course busy ..... sitting on the bench.

Leo has brought direct running and rapid ball-carrying, so if he's out and we plan on playing similarly to how we have been, the obvious replacement is Robinson or Fraser. I realise that everyone probably knew this already.

That is because MLT could not tackle, even though he used to try and he was a gobshite. I always remember he was a very awkward tackler, he used to pretty much lay down first then tackle instead of the normal slide tackle.

The strangest thing happened to me tonight.

I suddenly realised, that for the first time in what feels like forever...

I am actually looking forward to Saints playing on Saturday.

Usually what happens on a Friday night, is that I am just enjoying my evening. Relaxing, and winding down from the frenetic week, and then at some point, it abruptly dawns upon me: "Oh fuck. It's Saints tomorrow."

And that old heavy-hearted sinking feeling, begins to wash over me.

 

Instead, I feel pleasantly refreshed and re-invigorated, by two superb wins, and some absolutely scintillating attacking football. A strong blast of fresh air is sweeping through our Club. It feels good to be excited about Saints again. To see so much potential opening up before us.

We look organised, well drilled, aggressive and combative. There is strong desire to work hard, with and without the ball, and a creative spark that has been sorely missing for far too long. We are flying into challenges, and throwing bodies in front of the ball. Defending as a team, and difficult to break down. There is a developing cohesion, understanding and spirit amongst the squad.

You can feel the difference in the crowd. The expectation. The tangible buzz everytime Leo gets the ball, and starts weaving magic. When Tom Fellows mesmerises defenders, spellbinding them with stepovers, and no-one can stop him from getting his crosses in.

I had forgotten what it felt like, to genuinely feel like Saints could score at any moment, every single time we attack.

These are exciting times my friends, and it is wonderful to feel so good about our Club once again.

I did the Bermondsey Beer Mile in August, because of poor forward planning it fell on a Millwall home game (I think it was their Boro defeat). I got the shits at bar number 7 and had to use a god awful toilet. I blame Millwall for no reason whatsoever. I want revenge. Millwall 0 - Saints 5.

I was dragged to their match on Wednesday night, and sat with the home fans during the match. I caught a train to and from the ground, queued on the platforms, went round their shop , had a burger and a beer in the ground.

I was no bad behaviour, heard nothing any different from being at SMS and felt it was just a normal crowd at a normal match. Sure, there was a significant police presence, around the station and the stadium, but I didn’t see them having to do anything.

I had been expecting a fairly lively evening, and was somewhat surprised to find it so calm, relaxed and ordinary. So, Wade Garrett, I don’t know where or when you experienced Millwall fans that caused you to give such a strong, bigoted opinion, but I saw nothing like that. Maybe today will be different, maybe you’re remembering ten or twenty years ago, but I saw a genuine community club with decent people watching.

Mind you, the football was dire, and whilst Millwall attacked with pace down the wings they were largely toothless in the box.

I grew up in SE London (used to go to watch Charlton rather than Milwall). I only went to the old Den once. It was in 1977 on the day the National Front and Martin Webster tried to march through Lewisham. I was on the counter demonstration which successfully stopped them doing so. After the demo, we thought we'd  go and watch some football and went to the Den taking our trade union banner with us. God knows what we were thinking, I don't think we unfurled it but we may have done. But the other supporters on the terraces just treated us with indifference, which was a fortunate surprise.

Anyway, I'm hoping Saints can keep up their winning form.

Probably need to manage expectations a little here. Winning runs don't last forever. 

Whilst I'd bet on a win, Saints are flying at the moment, Millwall are where they are for a reason. A competitive niggly side, not without an attacking bite. 

Saints should have too much for them, but they'll aim to neutralise our threat. I'd imagine Jander and Fellows, will be on their arses within minutes.

Stephens will probably get the nod today, this is a similar game to Charlton.

I'd start Bragg, as he brings energy, but Romeu is an ideal sub to bring on. Be good to see the main man on the pitch.

We've had some great wins there, late goals as well with Fraser, I enjoyed the Lambert two pens , been a lucky ground in the past

I don't know. I think we'll be fine because Eckert seems good at going through the game plan before the match starts, which is why we're doing well in the first half. That's what I got from the post match interviews this week. I've not watched Millwall so I don't know how they play

Even beat them with last seasons terrible squad in that friendly at the Den. Remember thinking we are going to be shite this season after watching it. Also the walk from the station to the ground smelled of piss all the way down. Had to double check it wasn't me.
