Flynn Downes

Watching the game today I was screaming at the TV.  Watching Downes receive the ball and automatically pass it backwards wihtout looking forwards drove me absolutely nuts and consistently killed off any breaks forward.

I hope he doesn't play for Saints again this season (or ever) and I'd lay money the likes of him and Manning (based on more reason than they were Martin buddies) are part of the issues behind the scenes.

We need an absolute clear out at the end of this season.  How on earth have we ended up with so much dross and so many mentally weak players?

He means well, always gets booked, did that weird West Ham X factor cross arm bollox when we went up and never plays a pass forward. Apart from that…

I thought he looked ok a few weeks ago when he seemed to re establish himself in the team, but since then he’s been terrible. But then most of them have. The footballing side of the club is a disaster

There was one glaring one in the first few minutes. Received the ball facing our goal, no-one within 10 yards of him, passed it straight back. He has no spacial awareness at all.

I think he is the centre of the issue, he disappears in games. We have a lack of midfield and 

leadership. I’m a bit gutted he didn’t go in the summer to Ipswich tbh. We play better without him

He was bloody awful yesterday, along with Manning and Wood. If there is a brain cell amongst them I'd be amazed.

Sooner RM gets another job and comes in to take these clowns off our hands the better.

Happy never to see him play for us again. Shouldn't have signed him.

He doesn't want to be here and hasn't since his boyfriend left. He is a core issue with the toxicity. This isn't a guess, because he played this exact game at Ipswich when he was in L1 with them.

If we get any bid for him, even a packet of crisps or a double decker, I'd drive him to whoever offered it.

What happened to Sesay? Seems to have completely disappeared but looked like he had good potential. The sooner we get Charles back and can ditch Downes (hopefully forever) the better. Big attitude problem and not actually very good.

Can't believe it's the same player as the Championship promo season who was at the heart of the midfield and who we really missed when he wasn't available. Maybe it's the health issues affecting his energy levels, but given he was close to a move back to Ipswich suspect it's more that he's going through the motions (maybe in all senses...).

Never forget the promotion celebrations where he shouted 'Irons, Irons' as he waved to the crowd. Maybe he thought it was his way back to WHU and that it didn't happen coupled with the departure of RM has meant that we've been carrying a midfield recycler for over a year. Reminds me of a lad I was in a team with back in the day who just couldn't handle things when the going got tough as it was all about him.

I think some people on here are being incredibly harsh on Flynn. It doesn't help when we are being completely left exposed through the middle of the park.

He's part of the reason that we're exposed.

That's what annoyed me the most. In space, with no opposition player within twenty yards of him and yet he just pings the ball back first time. He might just as well not have been there.

What % of his passes are back to the player who passed to him? If there is a record, he’s fucking got it, alongside his sideways and backwards record. One of the biggest wankers I’ve seen in one of our shirts, bottled a couple of tackles yesterday as well. We need him out of the club asap…

I think it's way over 100%. Certainly seems like it.
