Patches O Houlihan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Saints players have clearly been told that their Georgian right back only has a right foot for standing on! Three times now they have left him loads of space knowing he can't take it! 2
Saint NL Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Shame for Downes, he's just found some form. Charles is a good replacement and also needs minutes 1
Gloucester Saint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Another dangerous counter attack, luckily their Georgian midfielder cut across the shot and lifted his head. Pity Downes off, hope only a knock, Shea on. 1
Chez Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 1 minute ago, benjii said: Nonsense. He was with his man and Scienza was supposed to be covering. His man is the right winger.
Mr X Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just now, Chez said: Sorry, he right in front of me. He's been terrible defensively Commentators are saying he's had a good game
Sheaf Saint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 2 minutes ago, Chez said: Downes coming off Shame cos he was doing really well. But it's good to have a player as good as Charles to replace him. 1
Harry_SFC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just now, Chez said: His man is the right winger. Not always. Scienza should've seen Welington was involved elsewhere and went with the winger. 1
Gloucester Saint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just now, tdmickey3 said: All gone a bit shit Watford a level above Blades, Skates, and Stoke so far. Defensively they aren’t brilliant but getting bodies behind when we get to their D, but they are very effective on the counter. 2
obelisk Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Leo needs to realise he's not going to get more than a couple of touches at a time. When there's two on him he needs to find a team mate. 2
badgerx16 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago At least we have our usual second half improvement to look forward to. 3
SNSUN Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Watford more in it now, we seem to have forgotten we can attack. Take the 0-0 at half time and go again in the second half.
OneMrsWallace Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago We need to get in level at half time and sort things out. This has been back to our slower, ponderous nonsense. 1
Gloucester Saint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just now, hypochondriac said: What a dull half. Seen a lot worse, Watford are tactically challenging to the way Saints like to play sitting off, crowding out and countering at pace, and we know the team and club aren’t great at adaptation.
Mr X Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 0-0 written all over it so hopefully goals galore in the second half! The second 45 is always our best 1
CB Fry Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The most Thierry Henry-like thing Ross Stewart has ever done. 2
obelisk Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Saints build up far too slow again. Contrast with Watford getting it through the lines much more quickly. 1
coalman Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Two things there which we haven't done for most of the season. The keeper kicking long and Stewart making a nuisance of himself and giving the defenders a torrid time. Nearly got something from it. 2
Saint NL Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Azaz having one of those performances where you forget he's on the pitch 2

benjii Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago They struggle with Stewart. Think we should get it to him a bit quicker. 1

Sheaf Saint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I'm trying to think when was the last time we scored a header from an open-play cross? Seems like we've just been utterly incapable of that for many years now. 2
JohnS Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Pretty poor 1st half - very much the same slow predictable play we see far too often. Evenly matched teams & game could go either way - do prefer Watfords faster/directness. Think we should be doing so much better with the quality in our squad, but it just doesn’t quite click. Need to show in the 2nd half how much fight & will we have to want to win this game. Downes was absolutely superb until his injury. Scienza pretty poor again - both wingers not doing enough. Goalkeeper living on the edge with his passes & we still look very vulnerable from crosses 1
Saint NL Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago That Georgian fella just plainly refuses to use his left foot 😂 1
SNSUN Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Yeah not great that. We had a couple of decent attacks and half chances but then Watford came into the came more and we looked like were the away team. Downes was having a good game so it was a shame he went off. Hopefully Charles can dominate things more in the second half. 1-0 win with a Larin goal still on the cards! 😀

It's not something that gets practiced anymore, with coaches preferring to tell players to look for an open man instead of playing the percentages.
Saint NL Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I've got the Watford commentary on my stream and the guys there reckon the Watford players are knackered. They've looked much more lively so hopefully they'll fade in the second half.

Think we need to switch it up a bit and play over the top/in the channels a bit. Get Stewart up against their CBs and players around him. Then stick Larin on to do the same.

Crab Lungs Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago There is no way this Saints side mounts a playoff challenge 😂 Minging 3
tdmickey3 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Poor stuff and will likely end 0-1 with us giving it away over playing at the back . Azaz having to come deep to get the ball or ending up out wide Need to get him in the no 10 role more often. Scienza not doing much and overplaying. Fellows keeps cutting inside Stewart had best chance but no power in the shot 1
saintant Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Not great and, if I'm honest, they look slightly the better side. Leo has been poor. A draw is no use so we might as well throw more men forward and go for it in the second half. Could go either way and a defeat wouldn't be a surprise based on first half.
captainchris Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Bree has to be told to engage his attacker, he’s doing Nothing to stop the crosses. Something isn’t quite right with our set up, not getting the midfield forward enough when we break….. 1
Micky Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Worrying given our second half performances this season have generally been poorer than our first. That coupled with the fact that we will also inevitably make exactly the same substitutions, at exactly the same time that we always do, just because, errrrr that's what we do! Not confident we'll get anything today, Watford look pretty decent on both flanks as well. 1
badgerx16 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 10 minutes ago, Sheaf Saint said: Oh unlucky Stewart. Couldn't control it. Handball
obelisk Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'd say Saints might consider themselves a tad fortunate not to be behind at HT. Watford have spurned some good chances with their more direct style. Meanwhile Saints have had a couple of openings but the build up is too slow again. There really is no reason to fanny around with it at the back all the time when in possession giving Watford time to get into their defensive shape. Considering it's a "must-win" game I'd suggest we'd better instead start to think about next season and whether Tonda's the right man to go for a promotion push. 3
Chez Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 5 minutes ago, Lighthouse said: A dull game and a cold, damp early kickoff. Hardly surprising. Watford have been very solid, making it hard going for us. Not a lot of space to work with in the final third. A couple of half chances. Crossing has been poor. Same for them. They have broken but not done enough with it, thankfully. Losing Downes was a blow. 1
tdmickey3 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It will be the standard 2nd half masterclass from Ekert sadly, he has no idea how to change a game tactically 2
SouSaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Very very boring. There is no way we can go into next season with Tonda Eckert as our manager. 4
Obstacle1 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago None of the front 4 have produced anything of quality in that half. Interesting that we seem to have put a lot of balls in the box but none of them seem to be anywhere near Stewart 1
