Arsenal will be massively focussed on the league

And the champions league.

You’re going to need to beat a top side to get to the final. If you’re looking at Liverpool & Chelsea who may have fuck all else to play for by then, or Arsenal home in the one competition they’d sacrifice, I’d take Arsenal home over the others.

Beat them, then Brentford West Ham or Leeds in the semi

Arsenal home or away is toughest fixture out of the lot. The best team in the country this season by far.

If they win on 22/3 in the League Cup final they'll still be on for the quadruple which may give them reason to go for it even more 😬

Try enjoying something. I’m sure you thought Fulham would hammer us yesterday

Indeed, Arsenal could have a massive Champions League match a few days after our cup match, whilst being balls deep in the hunt for the league title so if ever there’s a chance their minds are preoccupied it’s against us.

Fucking miserable twats, we beat Manchester City in a home quarter final, a side which then won the treble the same season. Let’s hope the players aren’t as negative as some of our nods…

We're at home so have a chance. It's a one off game so maybe the luck will go our way. Arsenal will take us lightly at their peril so I wonder how strong they'll go. Should be a good game.

But they had a bit of a challenge at Mansfield.

Suggest that the ground staff should destroy the pitch prior to the game and then be very aggressive in our performance.

I guess the tickets wont be cheap.

The only worse fixture was Arsenal away

Don’t be stupid - away to Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal, even Chelsea would have been worse.

Predicting that the best team in Europe will beat us, even with a few changes, isn’t exactly outlandish.

No idea why it bothers you so much though, why do you care what I think?

Not if they play a weakend side like Fulham did

Fair point.

Arsenal are away to Man City the weekend before

No idea about champions league, assuming they get through

International break the week before as well so most of their players will be away until a few days before.

Very likely our game is on the Saturday as well, Champions League draw won't be made in time, so Arsenal won't know if they have to play on Tuesday or Wednesday and therefore the Sunday is ruled out.

Likely gonna need a weakened team from Arsenal, Arsenal to rediscover St Mary's as a bogey ground, and a hefty dose of luck to have a sliver of a chance.

Either that or the team just goes **** it and outplays their best team with no explanation whatsoever, like the time we stopped Man City doing the quadruple

I thought all 4 big teams were definitely going to be kept apart and definitely all at home?

It's almost like it's a random draw.

They thumped us in the FA Cup in 2017.

That's the spirit. It's not common to win the treble and Arsenal definitely won't this season. And we can help with that.

I’m sure I remember them beating us 0-5 at St Mary’s in a FA Cup fourth round just before the League Cup Final?

Wasn’t that 6-1 away before fa cup final

Oops - I could only remember the wins.

I did check with AI but we know how accurate that is….

Surely we can play Arsenal on Easter Monday so we can keep the Ipswich game in place. Arsenal don't have a midweek game that week.

I was wondering about this. You’d imagine they’d only want to postpone 1 of our league fixtures if they can help it. So we’d either play on Friday or Monday surely? With the other league fixture being unaffected. If the fa cup games are detailed as being 4-6 April, that leaves the Ipswich game as the game that will remain, I’d imagine.

Champions League 1/4 final that week if they get through. So more likely to be Friday than the Monday.

Port Vale will also be in the same position as us with 2 games over that weekend already planned.

Hopefully Arsenal have one of those Arsenal weeks where their entire season crumbles and they’re left with nothing to win

Posted

Seems logical to play Arsenal Good Friday and keep the Wrexham game Easter Monday.

Assume they also have to take into account the possibility that we win, which would mean the Blackburn game needing another midweek date of which they are quickly running out.

Because the international break is the week before, with players likely not back at teams until Wednesday at the earliest, I think the Friday will be off limits.

Obviously it would be ideal for us, but Arsenal would probably kick up a fuss. Unless of course they would prefer the additional period over the weekend to prepare for their Champions League QF tie.

Broadcasters as well probably would prefer it to be on the Saturday rather than clash with EFL on Friday.

5:30 on the Friday to replace our Ipswich game would still not clash with all the 3pm EFL games though? So that’s a possibility for tv purposes

I'm still annoyed at that terrible team Puel put out against them years ago. It even had Jack Stephens in it.

Harry Lewis in goal too.

One day the work experience kid is going to stick the balls in the microwave for a bit too long and it’ll be like that bit in Home Alone where he grabs the door knob.

Arsenal struggled at Mansfield on Saturday so there's always a bit of hope

What's the story there? If Arsenal get through against Leverkusen are they guaranteed to be away first leg next round? Which would be a few days after this cup tie

Plus most of their squad will be away for the international break

Everything falling into place nicely
