I'm honestly convinced that the rise of this MBA speak in football is so posh folk can justify liking the game and getting to make out it's "actually intelligent and complex", instead of just 22 blokes kicking a ball around. Bit fucking hurtful that mush, i'll have to report you to the FAB grass line for being sizeist, another period in the gulags it is for you Technically a double 'like' but can only do one. As someone said above, the 'gentrification' continues apace to keep the middle classes (sorry all you middle classers) feeling 'relevant' and probably allow people to charge loads for training courses. £1 for 'defend deep' vs £10,000 for 'keep your spaces and present a low block'. 3
Saint Keef Posted yesterday at 14:22 Posted yesterday at 14:22 Whilst on the subject of new terminology, I think, although I'm not sure, that what used to be called an 'interception' is now a 'transition'. Am I right? Answers on a postcard please.....that's if there are still things called postcards. Many thanks.

When he explains to the kids what to do/not do, he explains it so clearly it just seems so simple. No word salad, no jargon, just simple instructions that are immediately understood by everyone. Maybe if you have real world credentials you don't need to make up bullshit to sound smart? 🤷 Isnt the saying something like if you cant explain it simply to a child you dont understand it? I think that just about sums it up. Over complicating stuff to try and sound clever, using all sorts of bollocks expressions. 2

But but the double pivot, so important when playing against the ball, especially with the low block because you need that against inverted full backs playing a false nine, trying to force a transition in play. I mean, wtf.

The double pivot then transitions to a single pivot with the hybrid 6 supporting the 8 in transitions. And don’t even get me started on what to do against a mid block 😳😳 4

sockeye Posted yesterday at 16:26 Posted yesterday at 16:26 Not got a good feeling about this one. I think we're due for a big wobble. They are ruthless, I'm sure that they will be promoted this time next month.

They have better players than us in nearly every position. Rushworth, van Ewjck, Rudoni...Their attack is so full of goal scorers, it's ridiculous: Wright, Thomas-Assante, Mason-Clark, Simms.... We have 2 players who might get into their team: Harwood-Bellis and Scienza. How many of our players would make the Fulham team ? 1
saintstowin Posted yesterday at 20:00 Posted yesterday at 20:00 In my opinion if you play through the lines the game should stop until the ball is back on the pitch.
adrian lord Posted yesterday at 20:37 Posted yesterday at 20:37 (edited) We will need to exploit the 'channels'. I am just waiting for the inevitable appropriation of the term 'play' into football from American football to describe a passage of the game commencing after a dead ball situation and continuting until the 'turnover' or next dead ball. Not once have I seen him sprint and he seems to amble in to poor positions. That stated, I'm talking from ignorance as I haven't seen him in the U21s. Dibaga looked ok against Leicester. Is Ross definitely out? I can see him being cotton-wooled until the Norwich game, but if we lose tomorrow, we're six points off the play-offs which won't be easy to make up. 1

Disco Stu Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago (edited) I think we'll turn up for this one. 1-3 win. I'd like to see a start for Edozie. Ideal replacement for Scienza I think. Fellows back in for Matsuki. Edited 21 hours ago by Disco Stu
Vancouver Saint Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Not sure about this one...not sure at all. Thought we were pretty crap against West Brom but think we might, might just play up to Coventry in this game... My problem is we can't do the basics like defend corners and take throw-ins to our own players...I can't see Coventry having less than 13 corners so unless we get 36 corners ourselves....

I'm sure everyone is aware Coventry are heavy favourites to win, pressure off them a bit now with such a lead, a draw would be impressive even if we can manage that

I heard he was considered a danger in the changing room for a bit when he first arrived - he’d made a name for himself, and no one wants their shorts and game pants dragged to their ankles as they are running out onto the pitch. Maybe he can be Coventry’s mascot 🤔 1

Now's your chance Sam..

JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I quite like the simpler newer terms like low block and transition. Use of language changes over time I guess as there are new sources of influences. Dont get me wrong, some is useless too.
James G Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago This is a good test of where we're at. I'll go for a 2-1 victory to Saints just purely based on the fact we seem to struggle against lower teams but tend to do ok against the better ones 1
