Probably more with him on balance. It was a technicality with us though wasn't it. There were a lot more things going on at the club that nailing down Ross Stewarts contract extension in the last week of the season. Plus if we'd gone up so would his wage, so you can understand why we held off. TBH it's pretty mercenary behavour, i know people will argue there is no loyalty in football but when he's been getting paid for two years whilst sitting on the treatment table you'd like to think he'd feel like he owed us at least another year. 2

I reckon he has an offer that he's agreed to, could be Middlesbrough, feels like so much of his time here was a disaster its typical that he's finally managed a run of games and fucks off. Watch him be Championship top scorer next season now No chance. As soon as he gets another 3 year contract he’ll go back on the sick. Glad we didn’t keep the fucking malingering prick. 1 1 1

I have seen players sign with partners, family members in tow before. Not saying it is legit but maybe why the photographer is in the picture. Its how the new kits got leaked a few years ago, someone who was with a player who was in the kit launch took a sneaky pic and sent it to someone in confidence who then sent it to someone else, next thing its on social media. (lots of someone's i know) 1
Bobsmith Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'm not a fan of what Ross has done, but we had a contract extension clause and chose not to exercise it until after we knew we were in the championship. Pretty shoddy behaviour from the club and he's repaid it in kind. 2

Pretty shoddy behaviour from the club and he's repaid it in kind. It's a tricky one... It's not as if Ross and/or his reps didn't know the "5 days notice after the end of the season" clause was in the contract... It would've been in there from the outset and he/they didn't have to agree with it when he signed.... And the only reason for such a clause would be that the club would likely only extend if they felt he was capable of playing in the Premier League week in, week out. So, all we attempted to do (until spygate scuppered it) was to exercise a clause that had been mutually agreed to in the first place. So it's not as if we've done anything that Stewart wouldn't have been expecting.... I therefore wouldn't call it "shoddy" behaviour from the club. Edited 3 hours ago by trousers 2

If we had been promoted, with the money that comes with it, I am sure we would have signed a Premier quality centre forward. With his injury record and only half of a season playing well in the Championship would he have been good enough for the premier ? and as Trousers has said (got in before me) it was taken out of the clubs hands. I would like him to sign again if he doesn't get a better offer? I suppose he is still insured until his contract ends with us and then will have a new club or his own insurance so hopefully any injuries will not have too drastic an effect. 2Morrow Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Think its being missed it was pretty widely reported we were trying to negotiate reduced terms on a longer extension and Stewart didn't want that. So no loyalty, hes left for the money. Fair play to him as ultimately its a career, but I can't criticise the club for not wanting to give him the same terms or a pay rise given his injury history. I am sure we would be critical of Spors if we gave him a 2/3 year deal on the same money and he got injured in September 1

Too risky. 1

LegalEagle Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We won’t know if it was a good call or not until we see who his replacement is and for how much.

Were they too thick to understand the contract. Regardless it’s hardly going to make Stewart feel valued.

I think we could have activated the extension at any time before it was too late, but I take the point others have said that it made sense that we saw what league we were in before committing. Sadly, we were then undone by the technicality, and a mercenary Ross. The lack of loyalty in the game cuts both ways to be fair, but I find Ross's decision to walk pretty classless. 2

The Kraken Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 2 hours ago, Tamesaint said: This may not be a popular view but is there really no future for BBD at Saints when he returns from loan? Yes he was totally crap when he was playing Russball. You could see how his confidence was completely shot Derby however got a tune out of him last season and my Derby supporting cousin spoke highly of him. Tonda has done well with Archer. Could he do the same with BBD. 7 goals in 39 league starts for BBD. So he didn’t exactly pull up trees. Theres no doubt that playing him left wing for us was a complete disaster of an idea. Maybe BBD can be an option as a central striker but I’d rather we had Larin plus either LND or a proper target man to replace him. If it’s Larin and BBD as our primary options, I’d be worried. But you never know. BBD was long out of the building by the time Tonda came in, so he’ll at least have a look at him in pre season.

Cuddles Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hopefully Ross can't find a better deal elsewhere and comes back to the table. Then we can hate him and like him at the same time, like Katseye.
