Probably going against today’s tide of thought here but I thought Dan Neil would have been a good addition and business (especially if we sell Charles for upwards of £25m).

From what I’d read and his promotion experience   I can’t join the “well he wasn’t good enough …” , “we didn’t really want him…”  pile on.

That’s not to say we can’t do better, although it will cost more. The Mulligan of Hibs rumour might now resurface, although we don’t seem to have been active recruiting in Scotland for years. Or perhaps Spors/Tonda will know a Bundesliga 2 gem to come in.

You could argue he's got a similar profile to Joe Rothwell who I remember contributed nothing apart from a wonder goal whilst he was here. We have better midfielders already than Neil. Downes, Jander and Charles (the latter likely going) would all start ahead of him.

Another MF mentioned on the thread is the 6’4” Norwegian Dahl. Young, and built like a proverbial brick shithouse, which seems a good start for a DM.

It's only YouTube and I don't think he's playing at a particularly high level but thought the lad looked pretty good in the videos I saw.

Further up the thread in last couple of days. Probably not a reliable source though.

If we’re spending serious Charles/Fernandes dosh on it then someone mentioned the Millwall strikers (Ivanovic ? and Coburn) on here previously, worth considering.

Of the four you mention Tolaj apparently has something about him, Futkeu seems to match some of our tickboxes ( Bundesliga 2, affordable etc).Lankshear - did he really show anything at Oxford last year ?

Lankshear scored 12 on loan for Oxford, could be worth a punt if we can get him on loan.

Noel Futkeu 6.0, 22 years old, 18 goals in Bundesliga 2.

Salech 6.5  24 years old,  15 goals

Andrea Adorante 26 years old,  6 foot, good at holding ball up. 17 goals, Venezia.

Kaliman and Hornby are two other options in the Bundesliga 2 who have the classic target man attributes and scored >10 goals last season.

We got to be looking at a few of these....

Fukeku or Salech for me would be superb signings for a Ross Stewart replacement

Thanks. Interesting as 12 goals for a struggling Oxford last season isn’t a bad return. My only first hand memory of him is slicing a good chance wide at St Mary’s (but then look at Kane the other night).

Trouble with Lankshear is that he’ll probably be a last minute loan after De Zerbi has sorted his squad.

Hornby has signed for Wolfsburg this summer. He’s good for ‘derailing’ transfer threads though.

Dom Ballard was sold for a reason.

He was deemed not good enough. Frankly if we want to be pushing for the Premier League we need proven experience and someone that has the potential to do it.

DB with his injury record and one season in League One doesn’t warrant that.

He was sold by Spors/Still prior to Eckert taking the reigns, to be replaced by Downs and considered a worse prospect than Archer for the team. Both terrible calls. We won't always play 1 big man up top, and equally there are numerous times where Eckert changed it up to go 2 Strikers or to introduce pace. Dom Ballard should still be on the books, he's a very promising and young home grown player who was top scorer in the league below whilst playing for an awful (and nearly relegated) side. He'd be very cheap and competent depth for the first team squad, would almost certainly be a money spinner for SR, and to be frank, should never have been let go in the first place compared to the money spent (wages/transfer/agent fees) for Downs and Archer.

Glasner to Forest

Weird move. Thought he'd go to a big club, not a sideways move

I’d say Forest have more potential than Palace so don’t see it as a sideways move (I’ll avoid the ‘bigger’ club debate so not to awaken MLG). But the Forst owner is probably more volatile to work for so good luck with that!

Like you I thought he’d go somewhere else but a lot of the ‘bigger’ and more prestigious jobs he was linked to ( Chelsea, Man Utd, AC Milan) have gone elsewhere.
