We need to raise money and cut costs, not increase them. There's no chance we can put him on bigger wages than he's already on. None of us WANT to sell him, but unfortunately it's the financial reality of being in the Championship, you have to sell your best players eventually.

It's all very well saying sell someone else instead, but that requires clubs to actually make offers for those other players. At the moment, it appears THB is the only one attracting actual firm bids. If our asking price is met, he will almost certainly be off.

I didnt see the Solak interview mentioning Saints not having any parachute payments, i read it on swiss ramble following the 23 relegation. The good news being that it will be more or less paid off come next summer.

I can only speculate that we consolidated debt to inc some transfer payments.

Can you imagine the meltdown if THB’s name is missing from the team sheet today? 
He will go or he will stay, but no amount of fretting on an internet forum will change anything so why not enjoy this long hot summer while you can instead of posting the same old nonsense day after day. If he goes life will go on, trust me.

I'll remind you that Scienza and Jander both arrived in the final days of the transfer window, as did Fellows. Now I grant you having to get a whole load of new players up to speed is likely to blunt our early momentum, no matter how good they are but "Promotion will be Impossible" is the sort of bedwetting phrase I don't expect from any of the authors of Charlie Wayman posts, particularly when 8th play gets a chance at the playoffs this year.

Just to take a slightly different view on things (and with a bit of wishful thinking).

If I was spors and I was looking at the areas of the squad that need the most improvement CB would be a priority area; Captain Jack can be a liability, wood is ok, quashie has looked like a weak link. Maybe this new guy is seen as a partner for THB? He certainly looks to fit the profile.

Nathan Wood is less than okay as far as I'm concerned. A thoroughly average Championship player that shouldn't be starting for a promotion chasing team. It beggars belief he was signed for the Premier League.

Yep. Agree. Wood not good enough to be a starter should we lose THB. I'd even think about putting Stephens out to pasture as well if the funds allowed.

Well,from Tondas’ response to questions about THB leaving….it seems likely. 
simplest of one word answers from the gaffer. 
I know we can’t expect a lengthy dialogue on the subject…but it was telling. 
hope im wrong…like i was with some bloke heading to Blackburn 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tonda was asked if he had any doubts about playing THB given the transfer speculation, and he just said “no”.

In that case, Downes talking about a top 2 finish is utter nonsense. A promotion push is all about squad depth.

Unless we ship out Archer, BBD and Downs, I agree but if we accomplish that, somehow, we need someone brought in. 

In a perfect world if we brought in Vipotnik, Louza and Ahmedhodzic with what we have now, we'll piss promotion.

Clownish by the club not having a CM signing at an advance stage by the time Charles left. Such an acute need for someone who will run with the ball. The only time either Bragg or downes showed any interest to we scored.

And yet many posters had no problem with Charles leaving and we more than happy with a Downes/Bragg starting pair? The problem today apart from the brain farts from Stephens and Manning was the lack of Jander…oh and the dreadful state of our crosses into the box.

We're an injury away from a crisis in midfield imo, especially given the number of games we play at this level in quick succession. Jander's absence today showed that. Imagine if Flynn had picked up a red card, we'd have been looking at starting Matsuki or Azaz at CM next week, which isn't ideal. I'd like to see an experienced mid like Louza come in plus a Jander style punt from the continent.

I've actually liked what I've seen when he's played before. Yes, he's not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination, but he gives us the physical presence and pace that's a tad lacking with Stephens and THB.

He’s played about 30 mins of football for us and barely trained with the team. He came into a game with us struggling to break a team down who were working hard to hold a lead. What did you expect from him?!

People have no problem with him leaving because of his contract situation, the need to sell to balance the books and the fact that we have three other decent midfielders in Downes, Jander and Bragg. FD and CB is clearly one of the weaker combinations and everone acknowledges the need to replace Charles with someone, so I don't know what you're complaining about.

Today was about making do with who's fit, nobody was 'happy' about it. We tried Matsuki at Colchester to little effect, this was our only other option.

If we lose three or four games prior to the start of September t owners will have to take the risk and pay out on players.

Fuck financial fair play.

Buy players.

Get promoted.

Accept the retrospective suspended points deduction. 😂
