AlexLaw76 Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Well, guess we are going to win the World Cup 👌 1

These pictures are from the BC Stadium in Vancouver in October 2024. Down by the pitchside are the VIP seats where you can order 'food' to be brought to your seat. It was a strange way to see a football match. I was only there to see Stuart Armstrong.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Sorry for the inversions. This stadium will host seven World Cup games. Edited 9 hours ago by Whitey Grandad

A couple of those look like they are from Australia

I can see a few influencers ignoring this or not even seeing it. I wonder how they'll crack down on it. Presumably through AI and then capturing names on various databases.

Football Special Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Is this Mexican opening ceremony going to be worth a watch? Hadn't realised that they are also going to have separate opening ceremonies in US and Canada, feels a bit excessive

Hadn't realised that they are also going to have separate opening ceremonies in US and Canada, feels a bit excessive I think we should have an opening ceremony too. I'd like to see Haiti's opening ceremony, I'm sure they can get some armed gangs to act out some kidnappings or something.

Window Cleaner Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Look to have quite a good crowd for the first match. It is Mexico at home I suppose.
SNSUN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I quite liked that official anthem DNA. Even if Bocelli looked like he couldn't remember the words for half of it.
Sheaf Saint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) WTF is the ref wearing on his head? He looks like he's been assimilated by the Borg. Edited 1 hour ago by Sheaf Saint
Window Cleaner Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Mexico look alright. SudAf looks like a team of village rec cloggers. Think they'll get at least one red this evening. 1

Thought the Mexican national anthem was pretty stirring stuff, with the mascots going full tilt at it too 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago First game nerves (hopefully), playing a mile in the sky, hydration break Terrible standard, particularly from SA
Midfield_General Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Weird that they have a carefully scheduled three minute hydration break but don’t stop the clock for it and just treat it as injury time to be added on by the referee Edited 1 hour ago by Midfield_General 1
benjii Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This is tedious. The atmosphere feels gentrified. Are the tickets too expensive in Mexico as well? This has the makings of a very boring few weeks before anything exciting happens.
SNSUN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Liking the ref cam. Poor game though, SA are poor and Mexico aren't gonna win the tournament either.
Sheaf Saint Posted 35 minutes ago Posted 35 minutes ago Another Russball moment from the SA keeper but gets away with it this time.
Sheaf Saint Posted 30 minutes ago Posted 30 minutes ago That's a ridiculous red card. What's the defender meant to do when someone cuts across them like that?
Osvaldorama Posted 30 minutes ago Posted 30 minutes ago Not sure why but the magic of the World Cup hasn’t kicked in at all. Atmosphere fees flat. Not seen any excitement for it. Is it just me? 3

skintsaint Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago Good to see Pompey get a mention already in the WC 1 7

Not seen any excitement for it. Is it just me? Nope. All the real fans have been priced out so it’s just a bunch of boring middle class people and corporates sat in their $100 replica shirts quietly munching their hotdogs while a League 2 standard game unfolds before them. FIFA have taken the game away from the people, ruined the format and killed this tournament. Edited 4 minutes ago by Midfield_General 1
Convict Colony Posted 2 minutes ago Posted 2 minutes ago ok switched off, I thought after following our season the world cup would be a step up in quality but it's fucking shit. South Africa trying to not fuck up comically and Mexico waiting for the fuck ups.
