Misc. Puel

Recommended Posts

Mr Puel the rotation clown does it again and this time it's the Leicester fans who suffer his foolishness. They are completely safe and not going to do anything in the league yet this dope disrespects their one remaining chance of winning a trophy. I am sure the Leicester fans are very pleased with him today particularly those who paid good money and took the trouble to go to Newport. Maybe this will teach Puel a big lesson. Arrogant idiot.

in the same way it was cr*p for us being 8th back in 2016/17?

Depends If you look at it in isolation or look at the bigger picture.

:? Finished 5th with Lyon after they had just won SEVEN consecutive titles

:? Finished 8th with us after we had just finished 6th

:? Is 7th with Leicester but they won the league in 2016 and have an incredible squad

Being 7th or 8th with say Cardiff, now that would be impressive.

But it's like taking over Man City and saying err they are 5th oh that's good

Did we have an incredible squad in 2017?

Interesting phone in on talksport. Multiple fans phoning up saying how boring his football was, sideways this sideways that, one long term home and away season ticket holder saying he was totally bored with the football they play. The host and co host were just defending him saying "would you rather be in the championship playing good football?"

Absolute duplication of his time with us.

Yep it seems to be this "accept pure horrible and boring football or have relegation" arguments. Lazy

Tbf we hated his football and we hadn't just won the league with some scintillating displays. No wonder they despise him

That Leicester squad is incredible and should be on the heels of the top 6, not hanging close to AFCB, Wolves, Everton, Brighton and WHU

Passing up two cup opportunities is crazy and has just turned even more against him.

Man City and Liverpool's squads are incredible.

What have they spent £250m in three seasons? £100m this close season?

Bought a CB who was on Man City's radar the season before and another who is linked with Man Utd consistently?

TBF if it's not incredible, it's definately one of, if not the, best outside the top 6.

Leicester fans on twitter don't think they have an amazing squad at all. Vardy's their only option up front, he can't play every game because he's got a slight injury.

You seem to be forgetting Mahrez and Kante, their two world class players. The rest of the squad may be mediocre, but with those 2 they should be at least 7th.

Just like when he had Pelle, Mane and Big Vic with us, he should've finished higher and won a cup.

It's important to look at the bigger picture.

It was criminal how he rarely he used Gareth Bale.

Weird to see the ongoing fascination to slam Puel whenever there is a bad news story about him. From my vantage point, the guy finished 8th with no Pelle, Mane or Wanyama and look what followed us. And a cup final. He then took over Leicester in relegation zone, finished eighth and he is now seventh having just beaten Man City, Chelsea and Everton.

Crikey what failure....

When Raneri took over at Leicester they had just avoided the drop after a great run of results, they continued that momentum and it took them to the league title. unfortunately the momentum curve swang back the other way and went down and down, first through Ranieri, then Shakephere, so when Puel came in he had to halt the downward momentum and turn it back, which he started to do and now Leicester by taking them from a 12th placed finish in 2017 to 9th in 2018 and now 7th, so Claude has done a great job in turn the momentum curve back in Leicesters favour. Of course you can take the odd result in isolation and criticise him but by Hesingbergs own momentum curve matrix Puel has and is doing a great job

At the end of the day it's results that matter and he's met or exceeded expectations in both his premier league jobs. He's a huge level above some of the dinosaurs that continue to get jobs in this league.

Lol at blaming Puel. He rotated as much as anyone does in the cup, nothing out of the ordinary. It's the players that bottled it. Leicester had 70% possession and 24 shots to Newports 9. They dominated but didn't take their chances.

But this the the thing ..... there is no need to rotate wholesale. There is only one mid week match in Jan and 1 in Feb ........ if you put out a good enough team to avoid an uneccessary replay!!

Leicester are in no fear or relegation or breaking into the Top 6 ... so the only means of winning a trophy is going for it in The FA Cup or FL Cup. Is the game so focused on the Prem Cash Cow that clubs would rather secure 7th place instead of 8th

and don't give a hoot to The Cups even though a place in Europe is there for the taking?

You're ignoring the fact that 14 other players in the squad want/need game time and will get ****ty if they get frozen out.

The lineup he put out was totally reasonable for a cup game against a league 2 side. 5 of their title winning regulars + iheanacho(£25m) leading the line. They dominated the game but didn't take their chances.

Show me a prem team that didn't rotate.

They played away to a side that have recently knocked out Leeds and very nearly knocked out spurs last season.

This Newport side clearly can raise their game for fixtures like this.

Picking a side with players that have not kicked a ball in a year was risky. But not having your star men in the bench was asking for trouble

Klopp clearly could not give a toss about the cup yet he had Salah, firminho and Mane on his bench. Look at the sides city and spurs put out? Full of their first team players

Lets get the facts straight. This is the number of changes from their last premier league game to the FA cup game.

Liverpool: 9 changes

Manchester City: 8 changes

Tottenham Hotspur: 8 changes

Chelsea: 8 changes

Arsenal: 8 changes

Manchester United: 9 changes

Leicester City: 7 changes

Watford: 11 changes

Wolverhampton Wanderers: 5 changes

West Ham United: 6 changes

Everton: 5 changes

Bournemouth: 9 changes

Brighton & Hove Albion: 8 changes

Crystal Palace: 9 changes

Newcastle United: 8 changes

Burnley: 9 changes

Cardiff City: 7 changes

Southampton: 6 changes

Fulham: 6 changes

Huddersfield Town: 8 changes

I fail to see the issue.

What facts do you need to get straight?
The ones where you said city and spurs put out sides "full of their first team players" when they actually made 8 changes each.

Every PL team rotates heavily in the 3rd round. Every team. 13 teams rotated more than Puel did.

Why is this on Southampton forum and not Leicester? Don’t see any threads for Steve Wigley, Dave Jones etc.....

Think it’s time the mods took action against this.

Because he's an ex-Saint manager, we have a defectors watch thread on the main board so why not one about him, and he keeps on getting mentioned in various threads (unlike Steve Wigley, Dave Jones etc....), so it's best to consolidate his discussions into one on the main board.

Anyway, unfortunately the mods listened to you and moved it, which I think is a mistake.

He is only mentioned when we play Leicester, oh and when Ray Winstone has his daily embolism.

So apparently Leicester are lining up Brendan Rodgers to replace Puel…

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8203519/leicester-brendan-rodgers-replace-claude-puel/

I think that current squad could tempt Brendan.

Probably the best job he will get as doubt the top 6 sides would take him despite his success at Celtic

He could put pressure on the top 6 with that current Leicester squad. Biggest issue is keeping them as by all accounts alot of players very unhappy with things just now.
