Saints v Palace match thread

apparently, I was a drama queen by saying they have been miles better

they have been miles better.

we look like a championship side busting to keep them at bay at times....Valery is such a weak link it is alarming

You said it after 5 minutes FFS.

We had a decent spell and created the best chance of the game after that.

Palace are no mugs, and we haven't been at our best tonight for whatever reason. But to start saying they are miles better after 5 f*cking minutes is just your usual negative bullsh*t.

Most direct team in the league vs our relatively inexperienced full backs was always going to be a test.

That's the tale of the tape - our FB's have been skinned by their three attacking players who look a more cohesive unit than Ings, Redmond and JWP. Stephens lucky to still be on the pitch.

We've done alright against teams who want the ball but Palace want to do the same as us nick it in midfield, through pressing, and then get it forward quick to attack. It seems we don't really know what to do when teams do it to us.

Not that we have much on the bench to change it but that's a good thing now right?

I'd be tempted to swap JWP for Armstrong in the middle.

We seem a bit predicatable tonight apart from few occasions pressure has caused palace to make a silly mistake.

Too reliant on getting the ball out to the wingbacks with not enough coming direct through the middle.

Interesting to see what reaction we get in the second half and how Ralph counters palace’s approach.

Targett still a very weak link on the left. Poor defensively and doesn't offer enough in attack unless he gets all the time and space he needs to put in a cross.

Ings not had any decent service yet, with JWP and Redmond being very well shut out of the game by the Palace defence, preventing us from getting any any forward momentum going.

Valery has done mostly OK against one of the best wingers in the PL. Showing more composure at least.

We need to make some kind of formation change cos we ain't going to get anything if we persevere with the same system in the 2nd half. Palace have been marginally better overall and deserve their lead.

Palace have targetted our right side and have been rewarded.

would they have targetted the RB if Cedric was playing? Guess we will never know

watford leading at spurs...

As if Cedric would have won any of those headers from cross field balls palace are playing let alone keep zaha in his back pocket on the ground.

Wan-Bissaka has been excellent.

Worst performance under Hussenthal so far - really, really surprised. Would have expected a much different display....can't think of a single player that is looking good.

Romeu and Hojberg rash in the tackle, giving the ball away under pressure.

Don;t think Valery and Targett have been bad at all - midfield has been utterly dreadful.
