Summer Transfer Window 2019

I got more dollar on outs, not prepared to talk about ins as I get Lamesaint on my case asking me for dinner.

I do have money on Armando Izzo and a Frenchman. This of course doesn’t mean it will happen, I know people struggle to grasp rumours

Lemina - abroad (Ajax and Italian club)

Austin - qpr ( had this on since last August, can’t see it happening now)

McCarthy - Another prem club

Who knows or cares

Is it one of the Frenchmen mentioned on this thread?

I used to like it when this thread included a list of rumoured deals with updates added regularly. With that in mind I decided last night to put together a summary of all the rumoured deals/negotiations that I had seen mentioned on here recently. It looks as if others have had a similar idea, but thought I would post mine nonetheless, especially as it includes a few possible deals that haven't been mentioned in the last couple of days. So, here is my summary:

Obviously many of these are not going to happen but it gives something to keep an eye on. The Fraser Forster move already looked highly questionable and the fact that Liverpool have just signed a reserve keeper makes it seem even more unlikely. I haven't bothered to add in unsubstantiated rumours from posters on this forum, but that is not to say they won't happen. Make of them what you will based on your own experience of Cabbage_Face, Unbelievable Jeff, etc.

My feeling is that the most likely move is that Lemina will go on loan to Wolves with a compulsory purchase contract for next year.

A saints-web favourite:

PALACE, VILLA KEEN ON AUGUSTIN

Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are considering moves for RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.

Ligue 1 rivals Nice and Monaco are also understood to be keen on the 22-year old striker, who moved to the Red Bull Arena in 2017 on a five-year deal.

It’s understood Leipzig are willing to sell but would be looking to recoup the £15m they paid PSG for the striker.

I may be alone but a decent central midfielder is more important imo as what happens if If our current 2 get injured or suspended as tends to happen.

At least we have some sort of cover at the back even if you don’t think they are of the required standard.

Our fall back options in central midfield are not good at all and seeing as we believed at the time Lemina was necessary nothing has changed.

I realise time is running out trying to get rid but if by some miracle we do get a few out the door then a Romeu upgrade and then a centr half would be my choice.

Nowt will happen a reinvigorated Hoedt and the emergence of Klarer are our solution to the obvious defence weaknesses. We haven't got a pot to pee in unless we can shift the high earners which will be a mission considering the minimal amount of days left in the window can't see clubs suddenly piping up to sign a unfit Charlie Austin...

Charlie Austin this summer is your stereotypical deadline day signing by a Championship team that suddenly realises they don't have the attacking options they thought they did. (Relegated Premier clubs from the last couple of years like WBA, Stoke and Swansea, I'm looking at you.) The problem is it will probably be a loan where we still pay a lot of his wages. Still anything is better than something.

I'm with Northam Soul above in that I'm starting to think a CM signing is more priority than a CB signing. Yes we'll concede a few with our current centre backs, but we have enough of them with Hoedt involved. If Hojbjerg or Romeu get a long term injury we're suddenly looking at Reed, Slattery, JWP, Armstong or even Stephens to fill the gap, and none of those fill me with confidence as defensive shield types, although I am looking forward to seeing if Reed can offer something this season after his successful Championship stints.

All that said, I'm still there's a lot of cogs turning behind the scenes. Lemina, Austin and Hesketh are the three I think we'll see go out before the window shuts, with Carillo leaving before the end of August abroad. All loans. Ins? God knows. It'd be nice! (Waits with bated breath...)

Can we all leave the panicking until Thursday evening. Let's see what happens [emoji6]

Absolutely but in fairness we've said similar about the cb debacle from January a few years back and last January as well. I still think we will get a cb but I'm going to be really disappointed if we don't get anyone else in before Friday.

We were interested by all accounts, in as much as the agent was giving us eyes, but of course we hadn't agreed anything with Leipzig...my mate has gone "off radar" since yesterday, so trying to substantiate.

Yeah, with as much as intention as the tyre kicking saints saga pretending they were interested in buying Quincy Promes. Merely tyre kicking to appease the fans we had ab owner trying to invest in the squad

He's actually gone on holiday, but yeah, probably.

Shame really, I quite enjoyed the thought of Upamecano dropping into our back four/ five. Wonder how far our interest went or was it just an initial enquiry. Interestingly August In is now quoted at 15million, I guess as soon as arsenal expressed an interest the price doubles

And tbf it may leave them without a buyer.

We'll have to see.
