WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 Assuming we don't get promoted this year how many players will still be around in 12 months time who AP hasn't brought in for next seasons promotion push(hopefully). I reckon he will bring 1/2 more this window Another 3/4 in Jan And Another 4/6 next summer to build his squad. I reckon Thomas,Perry,Wotton,Rasiak,Saga,Pulis,Molyneux and Boyle will all have gone. James,Gillett,Lallana,Holmes and Morgan have it all to prove this season The only ones I would confidently say will be at least in the squad if not the 1st 11 are Davis,Mills and Patterson.Gobern and Thompson should still be in the squad. Shows there is much rebuilding still to be done over the next 12 months. Will be interesting to see who is left as I bet there will not be many

Could be a useful act as sub though if needed.

hutch Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 The back 5 picks itself now. If Hammond's as good as we hope he is, we've got 3 options to partner him in the middle, in this order - Schneiderlin, Lallana, Melis. James on the right & Mills left when he's fit. Lambert & Paterson up front. My first choice 11 would be: Davis Murty Trotman Thomas Harding James Hammond Schneiderlin Mills Lambert Paterson Subs: Bialkowski Perry Gillet Lallana Melis Rasiak Holmes

Not reserve team bench warmers like last season.

VectisSaint Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 A team that is not tinged with the losing mentality: Poke, Murty, Trotman, Thomas, Harding, Mellis, Hammond, Gillett, Schneiderlin, Rasiak, Lambert Only pre-Pardew Saints I would use at the moment would be: Rasiak (not here last year) Schneiderlin (used to success with France u21) Gillett (mostly because there is not much option, but I think he is what we need in MF) Thomas (didn't play under Agents Orange) Poke (success with Torquay, used to winning) I know the last one is controversial, but I don't agree that Davis should be automatic choice. He is part of the problem, not the solution. Great shot stopper, crap at corners, poor at kicks and distribution. Once we get back to a winning/not losing mentality then bring some of the other players who are clearly talented back in. I cannot put up with any more of the negative football I saw on Tuesday night, back passes to the GK who then gives it to an opponent either directly or via a throwin. There is nothing better than Davis available to us where we are right now. We may be able to get someone who can kick a ball straight and collect corners well, but they're shot stopping will not be as good - all the keepers who can do all three are playing in the Prem, La Liga, SPL etc.

S-Clarke Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 Everyone I speak to, says Adam should be in the hole!!! It totally make sense! By playing in that position he isn't ''directly'' affecting the teams balance, as we still have Mills out on the left. (ok he is injured atm..but you get my point) Also you'd think lambert will hold it up, move it on, flick it on etc...adam could kind of play as a 2nd forward - i think he'd be great there...i just wish it would be tried! benjii Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 I would pick Holmes or Gobern on the left and Thomson on the right for the next match. I would also like to see us sign a right winger with pace for extra competition there. We now have two good full-backs capable of supporting their winger and getting crosses into the box. In Rasiak and Lambert we have two strikers who will score loads of goals if decent crosses come in. Whilst Rasiak is here we may as well use him. We need to play with some width and attack teams. derry Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 He didn't against Northampton - he was very disciplined. He played better against a poor team but still provided nothing down left side the goals came from the right. Raziak put his 'tap in' on a plate for him. He comes inside far too much and plays in the old inside forward position and gives no width which we need, so as not to waste a £1m forward. He is becoming a sacred cow to some people but his output doesn't rate a place in the side. He needs to play in the reserves and continue his education.
