exit2 Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 we will be like Man City, 5 strikers on the pitch. Be like the good old days with CN, you score 3 we will score 4. Le Tiss, Shearer, Rideout, Wallace up front circa 1990 Lambert, Papa, Camara, Saga, up front circa 2009
Pat from Poole Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 At the risk of having a dodgy memory, apart from a couple of half-decent games for us, wasn't Henri Camara overall a bit sh1t?

Badger Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 As I recall, he probably played two memorable games for us,v Everton, and then v Norwich.Pretty indifferent the rest of the time if my memory serves me correctly. So sorry,I don't see that the adulation for this bloke is justified.

niceandfriendly Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 was it v Birmingham away he came on and lashed a left foot half volley into the top corner? Yeah, I was there that night. We were playing so poorly but when he came on the game completely changed. We still lost, but without him we wouldn't have even come close to getting something. He also gave us fans at the pompey 4-2 defeat something to cheer with his goal there.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 I thought he was really good as he brought some much needed flair into the team. Only problem I had though was the flipside to that, which tended to see him be a little selfish and appear not to be a team player. I don't think he's the type of player that we need at the moment, but in the CCC he would be awesome.

The Fat Controller Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 so if he is a free agent what have we got to lose other than money- there are not many loan signings that bust a gut but Camara is a quality player and would be like us signing a top player if we were in the top flight. This would be an absolute "no brainer " if a deal can be done to bring Camara back to Saints
chrisobee Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 Blimey, Camara in League 1 and playing alongside Lambert and Papa ! That is too good to ever be true though it would not result in 4-3's as our defence is none too shabby lest we forget.
Al de Man Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 http://img190.imageshack.us/i/55090424.mp4/ When that goal went in, I'm sure that's the loudest SMS has ever been.

Alanh Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 I thought Camara was the most exciting player we have had in the last five years Agreed he's not got much competition but really he only influenced a couple of matches even if one of them was the 4-3 win over Norwich. Even in his 6 months in the first team I'd say Theo was far more exciting.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 could be a good addition to the squad 'could be' - are some of you mental? he is far too good for L1 and if he did sign he would be an amazing addition......the chances of us signing a premiership quality player however are zero. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 The only thing I really miss about not being in the Premier League is you just don't see players of Henri Camera's 'class' in a Saints shirt anymore - although it must be said he didn't turn on that class quite often enough . beatlesaint Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 From all the problems that surrounded him with refusing to play for Wolves when they were relegated from the Prem a few years back I dont think, even without a club, he would lower himself to play in Div. 1. Would love to be wrong and have him here but I cant see it. If we were in the CCC then yeah, maybe, but not Div.

Badger Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 You're aware that that was the Premiership yes? So a handful of good games in the Premiership and International level means not good enough for bottom of League 1?? I don't think anyone would question that he had the ablity, just his application and attitude. As someone else referrred to not necessarily a "team player". He could be brilliant - if he wanted to - but on the other hand might not help team spirit to gel.

VectisSaint Posted 5 September, 2009 Share Posted 5 September, 2009 The guy left us because we were relegated to the Championship. Why oh why would he sign for us now we are in an even lower league? He left us because his loan expired. But it is true that he refused to play for Wolves when they were relegated. Things have moved on now though, at the age of 32 he is not the player he was (though more than good enough for us) and would probably take a drop if the money was OK, after all at the moment he is unemployed. By the way we would have to wait for his work permit application to be granted of course.
