RonManager Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 (edited) Wemberley, Wemberley, Wemberley etc etc I know there's been a long running Final thread and one on the Away board, plus Ticket threads, but it's Monday now and it's my birthday and i'm treating myself. I think we will draw the 1st Leg. Hopefully a great atmosphere from our travelling fans and a good reaction from the team after the last second disappointment at Millwall. Don't forget it's a 7.00pm kick-off Edited 19 January, 2010 by RonManager

Andy Durman Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Getting excited & very nervous about our midfield. Would have felt so much more confident with Hammond. James needs to replace Hammond with Thomas at right back. Wotton to play in a 5 man midfield. Waigo & Lallana or Holmes on the flanks. Lambert as lone striker. This will sneak a 0:1 win
Paul Chuckle Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Im just glad the 2nd leg is at St Marys I think we might take a 2-1 lead back to St Marys. Wonder if Connolly and Waigo will start this one?????

SNSUN Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 (edited) You absolutely cannot underestimate MK Dons, who are a very good team, and we're not playing well either. However over two legs, I think we can do them. The players know that this will probably be the best chance in their careers to play at Wembley and they won't want to lose that feeling. Tomorrows game will be tough though. I'm hoping for a draw and a win in the home leg. 1-1 Edited 19 January, 2010 by SNSUN Oh, and Happy Birthday Ron. jjsaint Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 We've had a dip in form, and remember the Dons scored 5 on Saturday. They'll be full of confidence. TBH I'd be very happy with a draw tomorrow night. Anybody got any good chants for MK?

saintsforlife7 Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Is Connolly fit enough? After Saturday I would play Lallana attacking right, and stick with Holmes attacking left, with James Wotton and Morgan in centre midfield in the 4-5-

trousers Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 It's helpful that we don't have a league game on Saturday as this gives Pardew the opportunity to play a full strength side (cup tied player excepted). If we had a league game on Saturday I trust that Pardew would rest a few of our key players as we should still be concentrating on the league 100%

Fergie Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Anybody got any good chants for MK? "i've got a shed thats bigger than this..."? lol. OR "World cup, your having a laugh" Cant wait to get there tomorrow, driving up around 2pm to make sure the M25 doesn't slow us down, couple cheeky beers from the Asda over the road and a look about Ikea before the stadium opens. 1-1 draw is what i'm calling, they score first though. brightspark Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Just stay in the hunt please Saints. Any result other than a loss - I would take. MK Dons will be confident after just smashing Hartlepool 5-0, so we will need to get in their faces early on just to give them a reality check that it won't be happening again for them. Shut them out for the opening half hour and they could get frustrated, in turn that could help us gain a good result out of this one. COYR
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I dreamt last night that we won this match 1-3 our third goal was a hand of god type incident and Ince was going crazy in the post match interview.....Hope this one comes true. Matthew Le God Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Who's not elligible to play? I assume Otsemobor and Seaborne are cup tied but Fonte can play? What a strange question... Jose Fonte was signed from Championship club Crystal Palace. Championship sides are not in the JPT. So of course he can't be cup tied!
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I trust that Pardew would rest a few of our key players as we should still be concentrating on the league 100% To reach Wembley this season would be an achievement for us, to reach the playoffs would be exceptional for us, I agree with know your limits but always try to exceed them but right now I'd go with mid table finish and the JPT trophy. sperm_john Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 i've got a really horrible feeling if we go a goal up early we will end up losing 2 or 3 one, saints have a habit of scoring then taking their foot off the gas.. this will then lead to us being under immense pressure in the home leg, i'm thinking, let them score first, then us nick one back before half time, then to score another in the second, setting us up nicely for a home win ..in all honesty though I can actually see us losing this heart = 2 - 1 saints head = 2 - 1 dons
Wycombe Saint Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I think we are going to be looking at a score draw, and that would suit me fine. Can see us turning them over in the second leg, especially after a massive confidence boost from a good win streak in the league. I truthfully dont know where all this optimism comes from! Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I think James will almost certainly be placed at RB again as Jaidi, Seaborne and Otsemobor are all out. We'll probably see Lambert up front on his own, with a five man midfield of Holmes, Lallana, Morgan, Wotton, Antonio. Score : 1-2 Saints.
Chez Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 we aer a long way short of the best form we showed earlier in the season. I hope we can turn that round starting in this game, but I fear it is going to be tough. 2-0 Franchise.
hutch Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 For a couple of months, you always had the feeling that Saints had an extra gear if we needed to use it. Not at the moment. Goals were coming from the whole team - Lallana, Papa, Connolly, Hammond, even Harding and Trotman. Fix it Pards, you know you can.

Well that has depressed me, but I think they have more riding on a playoff place so could be in two minds. I think the Leeds game will be interesting tonight as I think thier priority is in the league and will be aware of a mini wobble! Tom28 Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I think we'll lose 2 or 3-1 tomorrow. MK Dons aren't the team we beat 3-1 earlier this season - they're much better now. And I think we've declined a bit since then too.
.comsaint Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 I think Pards will go with 4-5-1 for the game. Back four of: Thomas - Fonte - Perry - Harding. Midfield: James - Lallana - Morgan - Holmes - Wooton. Lambo up front. Bench: Bart -Antonio - Connelly - Gobern - Mills - Papa - ? Then again - Pards has a habit of springing a surprise or two! I have a firm belief that it will end 1-1.
Andy_Porter Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 That midfield is far too negative just like the team we put out at millwall, no pace, movement or penetration so we'd revert to hoofball and the game would probably end up 0-0 or Mk dons would grab a winner. Waigo has to play.

inoffthepost Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Nobody seems to think that Gillett might feature. This could be his big chance bearing in mind he wasn't fully match fit before he was offladed to Donny Rovers.
SuperMikey Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 -----------Davis------------- James--Perry--Fonte--Harding (Mills if not fit) ----------Wotton------------ ------Morgan--Lallana-------- Waigo-----------------Holmes ----------Lambert------------ Subs: Bart, Thomas, Gobern, Connolly, Antonio That's what i'd play anyway. I assume that Harding and Lallana will shake off their knocks, like somebody said in the other thread, Pardew has said that players are doubtful before yet still played them anyway. Harding and Lallana are two key players for us, and with Seabourne and Otsemobor cup tied and Hammond and Jaidi injured, we're very short on options. Gordon Mockles Posted 19 January, 2010 Share Posted 19 January, 2010 Really? Given that cosy mid table is what we're destined for surely a cup semi final would take priority now? Exactly! Yes, Pardew has consistently said he's taking all cup games seriously & fielding strong teams this season & I'm sure Cortese encourages this seeing as he spoke about our trophy cabinet contaning a sword (WTF?) & a distinct ambition for the club to start filling it with Trophies. Also, I think most logical fans (???) realise the play offs now seem unlikely, unless our performances show a dramatic turn around *fingers, toes & eyes crossed* & we rekindle that winning form we hit earlier in the season. Whilst the league is of prime importance, I'm not sure why Trousers would throw away our cup chances in favour of the league because, as Jonny suggests, it's likely we'll finish mid-top half in the table, possibly just short of the play offs. A cup win or strong FA cup run would benefit the club & team morale greatly, as well as galvanising the squad in preperation for a strong campaign & impetus to win League One next season.
