Not sure that can even be called a u21 line up, I think we've already done enough to qualify in this PL Cup and it's only Colchester so probably putting this side out but not much of a spectacle for the fans who made the effort to go to St Mary's

Still comfortably winning so justifies the line up, anyone going to Coventry tomorrow for youth Cup game?

A proper " make-shift " side with a 40 year old goalie, a 30+ y.o. centre back and 3  U16 lads making their debuts.

Having won the group already -expect to see more experimentations in the remaining 2 fixtures and hope to see  " the real B team squad"

getting a good Cup win.

Not sure this actually counts as B Team. Anyone any idea what has happened to Thierry Small? Recalled from his loan and was playing for us before that, but doesn't seem to be featuring now. Perhaps he is ineligible for this game,  but he does seem a bit of a mystery considering how highly he was rated when he joined us from Everton.

Anyway good luckntonthe lads today, should be enough talent there to overcome Coventry.

Top of the page. Started in the 5-0 win against Colchester a few days ago (26/11).

As the scoreline suggests, a pretty comfortable win in the end.

Maybe a bit complacent after the win at Colchester, Saints didn't start well. Colchester were knocking the ball around neatly and deserved to take the lead,

This seemed to wake Saints up and, after the first goal, they got stronger never looked in danger of losing.

Brass monkeys weather. A mostly empty stadium always seems colder.

Who equalised for us Dusic?

Ballard

2 1 Saints another for Ballard. Half way through extra time.

3 2 Ballard hat trick. Saints down to 10 men

Full time

I really hope some of these really talented youngsters get an opportunity soon.  I'd much rather see Morgan or Ballard than the waste of spaces Armstrong and Adams up top.

This is stupid. Adams especially is a good player. If we are going to escape relegation he will be massively key.

Perhaps Ballard or Morgan will have a cameo role to play but to suddenly place any actual expectation on them would be ridiculous.

The PL is a huge step up from what they are used to.

They might get sub minutes in the Lincoln game but would expect Jones will start his league team or as close to it as possible.

Certainly if either of them is thought about for the league it will be with the "waste of space" Adams rather than in place of him.

Away to Birmingham tomorrow (midday KO) for the penultimate group game of the PL Cup. Saints already through as group winners. Wonder if it'll be a standard B team, a lot of younger players (as already through) or a mix with some first team players getting minutes ready for the return of league football?

Our form is pretty incredible. The Birmingham game was a last minute equaliser for them too.

To think SR are going to let Jones hoof ball ruin all the hard work that has gone into reviving our academy and b team fortune's. Ripped up the playbook. I would not want these talented lads being subjected to Jones awful tactics. It will ruin their careers.
