BotleySaint Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) BBC appear to think he is only on loan. But the match report puts the blame firmly on Baz. "Gavin Bazunu's error from Jarrod Bowen's shot handed them victory in a hard-fought contest with Bolton Wanderers. Bazunu made his Bolton debut in place of Jack Bonham and the on-loan Southampton goalkeeper had performed well before he allowed Bowen's 77th-minute shot to pass underneath his hand." He better not be. 3
Mboto Gorge Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Just got in from the game. How’d he go tonight? Guessing a calm assured solid performance where he slipped largely under the radar and didn’t draw attention to himself at all? 3

I am so happy I don't have to watch him ever again in a Saints shirt! Careful. We have a habit of " bringing them home " 1 1

He's already deleted it, straight after Bazunu's debut Thankfully I got a screenshot of the plain text so it can still be enjoyed Edited 12 hours ago by CSA96 5

AlexLaw76 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Bazunu, like Russell Martin, will kind of become part of Southampton FC folklore.

Still find it utterly bizarre that Russell needed a keeper, bought one from us, but went for Macca instead of Baz. Not even sure that Macca's wages would have been that much less. A move that just doesn't make any sense on any level. Can only assume that Martin was bullshitting when he used to rave about how important Baz was to his team. Edited 2 hours ago by Midfield_General

We were obviously holding out for a better fee for Bazunu and then accepted a nominal one right at the deadline. If we'd been saying Bazunu can go anywhere for free / loan from the start of the summer then I'd imagine Martin would've tried to get him McCarthy as a 36yo free agent probably also more willing to fit a L1 wage structure than Bazunu at 24yo while still in contract with Saints too 1
Mboto Gorge Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago What does “good pedigree” even mean? What are the attributes that qualify him for that? Seems to me that it’s entirely based on the “he used to be at Man City” factor. Well so did the equally horrific Juan Larios.
West Dean FC Legend Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Might help us and other teams too - some forwards/players will get inside the box and think it is easy to plonk a shot at the near post and a normal goalie will save it. I watched it and it was just the way it pongled in - but also from a goalies point of view [you all know now I have never stopped banging on about it] I felt his positioning was bad, as the player cut in I would have be further off the line - first thing that does is either make him try and square it or probably shoot to the left where it might be easier to save. I wasn't great but I was good at angles and saving shots - my height runined it for me, crosses etc I was useless, also when it started that the goalie needed to be able to play football [I always remember you weren't allow to pick up passbacks, I hated that] I was just getting close to retriing thank goodness.

I forgot we'd released Macca and he was a free agent. Fair dos. Edit: By which I mean his contract had ended. Thanks @Whitey Grandad Edited 1 hour ago by Midfield_General
