He's clearly still holding on for a top league transfer, I'd still be very surprised if we got him, not least because of the likely logistical issues with Russian clubs being banned, sanctions and whatnot.

Not an issue, club have checked with all the relevant authorities. Krasnodar, unlike a fair few teams in Russian league, are not connected to the government nor is their owner/president etc. sanctioned by UK gov.

I don't think we are yet at the stage that we need to accept anything. I still hold out hope that we get in another keeper to push Bazunu.

I would be thrilled with Spertsyan. The critic in me says to not get too excited about the yearly big missed summer target though…

Eduard Spertsyan looks to have it all - he has a tremendous shot on him, great sliderule passer and can go past opponents for fun. If we are lucky enough to get him he'll be the new JWP deadball specialist - he'll be on corners, penalties and free kicks especially within shooting range.

He looks good enough for the Premier league so I'll be amazed if we get him. Fingers firmly crossed on this one.

He's one of Armenia's best players, maybe their best one right now. He is heavily compared to Mikatarian, and is largely regarded as one of - if not the best - player left in the Russian leagues right now.

It would be ludicrous for him to be playing at this level, but I'm still not going to get carried away or excited.

I've sat through Ramos, Silva and Gakpo to know that they're not worth getting invested in until they're actually over the line.

I mean quite a few pundits have said it, but that's effectively what Ipswich have done in signing their 'Championship dream team' and why I'm not sure copying that by getting, say, Rudoni and Fellows is a great idea.

Happy to judge our business at the end of the window, but Spors admitting it was his decision to give Jack a three year contract doesn't fill me with much confidence going forwards.
