Even if his G/A assist stats aren't all that, the one thing he excels at is keeping defenders occupied, which creates space for others. I think we should at least see how well he plays in Still's system before writing him off completely. I'm in the get rid camp. New broom and new players please. Edozie promises so much and then displays an abysmal end product. 4

Miltonaggro Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) 3 hours ago, goodymatt said: I agree. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could do a Newcastle and just keep all of our best players and smash the league? This is not the Southampton way, or the reality for 99% of relegated teams. Wishful thinking but I am doing the same. Will be very squeaky right up to the window close, however. One positive sign so far is the decent fees we've received for surplus players, more of that and we can at least negate the effect of a drop in wages, as we appear to have tried with Ramsdale. Keep praying... Edited 7 hours ago by Miltonaggro 1

Talbi to Sunderland for £23m. De Cuyper to Brighton for £17.5m. And they're about to lose their best player Jashiri to AC Milan with the clubs just haggling over the price (Brugge want €35m as a base, plus add ons). The player's training on his own, having already made his mind up that's he's going to Milan. Onyedika has been linked to West Ham for around £17m too. They're going to have plenty of cash to play with. Personally, I'm not hugely bothered about Edozie staying or going. He does some nice things on the ball, but lacks the physicality and pace to be a top class wide player - even accounting for how poor his delivery/decision making is. Some of those aspects may improve in due course, but I don't see him finding a yard of pace any time soon. Edited 6 hours ago by qwertyell 7
lambtiss Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I would keep Edozie and cannot agree with those claiming he had no end product. In the Championship he scored 6 goals and had 3 assists from 32 games, in a season when he had a really bad injury which stalled his progress. He is still only 22 years old and should be starting to reach his peak. He is one of the very few players that we have left who can actually beat a player and get fans out of the seats. We have already lost one winger (who had far less end product than Edozie) in Sullemana. There are players that we have played as wingers who I would prefer to be sold instead of Sam Edozie; BBD and Fraser for example. 3
goodymatt Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Alfie has rubbished any free transfer speculation for ABK. I didn’t realise we had an option to extend his contract. Might struggle to get €10m considering how his last 2 years have gone but the extension option might lead to a loan? I think all parties would prefer a sale this summer. 2

Strangely Brown Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 6 hours ago, Chez said: Yes. We are on the verge of signing a new striker. A price seems to have been agreed. Edozie has been linked with Bruge, but no negotiations have taken placer. Ramsdale hasn't been sold yet - he's at training looking happy. I think that's about it for today, so far. Thank you 🙏

EBS1980 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Regarding Edozie, he went on loan to Belgium to get regular minutes and to show what he can do in a lesser league. he didn’t exactly excel so why is he all of a sudden going to perform in the Championship? As long as he’s replaced I’m happy to take a chance on someone new tbh Edited 5 hours ago by EBS1980 1

It’s so easy to say “ yeah sell him show pony” but who you got in mind for that role then that’s not? IF that alleged Bruges bid is taken seriously I’d expect TWO decent incoming wingers. Players like Sam are amongst the most disposable easy to blame in football - yet mediocre mfs and defenders who never risk anything can get pencilled in every week without fail. Saints lose him, Tyler and Mateus I’m wondering wtf I wasted my season ticket on- a team of nil entertainment value That old chestnut. Someone doesn't have to name players to replace someone to be entitled to the opinion that the player isn't the answer. It's the scouts jobs to find and identify decent players, not the fans. 2

SWLondon Saint Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Let's not forget that at the start of last season, some deluded muppet decided they'd rather have BBD and Fraser in the squad for that left wing position and send Edozie out on loan. So probably a bit unfair to say Edozie was considered 'not good enough' for the PL.... 2

He's not Guido Carillo level but for 10 million or whatever we paid for him he ranks highly in the what a waste of money XI , I've heard he's not the most popular lad around Staplewood due to bad attitude. Anyway if he does stay I hope he makes an appearance so our fans can give him a standing ovation again 😃 1

Ramsdale biggest issue is one of the issues that he faced last summer. Affordable to PL teams yes but is spending nearly £20 million value? Clubs will fancy themselves to find a cheaper alternative and only towards the end of the window will patience on either side break. I don’t think I said they have to be for this year only. So you believe that the purchases made so far are for the prem? My point is that the mindset of recruitment should not be only to search for these type of players who are on a very steep learning curve ie be able to perform now and be able to do it at prem level if we get there?

Similar to Smallbone they both showed enough quality in enough games to convince me they can do a decent job for us at Championship level. Are they nailed on, first name on the teamsheet type players...of course not . I'm assuming we want a squad of players , not just a first 11 and imo these two would do a good job for us as they both proved in the 23/24. Edozie is shite, end of. He's had years to improve his end prodcut, including in a League weaker than the CHampionship, and has not done so.
Willo of Whiteley Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Yay. Underwhelming signing - but only because I haven’t seen him play, never heard of him, and he’s twelve years old with no top level experience. Screams of a signing to get you out the Championship.
SNSUN Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago Alex O-C linked with a move back to the Championship... with Leicester interested. The next Walcott/Lallana-style, injury prone, former youth product to be brought back to St Mary's? I know we were linked last summer, I expect things have changed now.
