Yes a good set of results today (liked the Oxford/Leicester draw), but with teams like Coventry salvaging a point and the league table starting to take shape, we can't get too far behind the pace setters.

Damn, someone who knows what they're talking about now in charge of one of our competitors.

That stated, there doesn't seem to be any stand out teams this year. Ipswich starting to look good, though their manager was spotted at West Ham recently. Mmmnn, is Potter's tenure coming to an end?

Purely based on resources (budget) anything outside of top 4 would have to be filed as another big failure for Sports Republic and their recruitment strategy

I wonder how many players Sheffield United lost and recruited in the period between Wilders sacking and his return. If the core of the team is the same then he'll just carry on where he left,  might need some time to assess the new players and I think Selles had started implementing a different system but not for long enough to have any lasting impact

Main positive in this league so far is that it appears very ‘open’ - string a few wins together and up the football league we will go!

A reasonably high finishing position brought about by playing attractive attacking football and signs that we are headed in the right direction. I'm not desperate for promotion this season but it does need to be achieved within a short time frame or we risk becoming a mid to lower level underachiever in the Championship.

Pretty much this. If we don’t get into gear quick enough for the autos and lose a play off for example that could be ‘acceptable’ in the context of noticeable upward trajectory that we think we could build on the following season.  If we scrape in and we’re still scratching our heads about how best to utilise the squad it’s a different story.

Many of us wrote them off for promotion because we expected them to lose points but it seems to have gone very quiet.

Count me surprised if it ever happens. They won't see any deductions.

It would have happened by now if it was going to.

Agree. It still appears that certain clubs can break the laws with impunity. All this so called fair play nonsense is anything but.

That’s the trouble if the rules aren’t written properly and completely.  Plenty of wriggle room and the difference between the spirit of the law and the actuality of them.

They will improve but they also have some potential big holes to fill from last season. I just hope Godfrey plays against us and we actually target him, but knowing our luck he’ll not be in the lineup or be a CB in a back five.

Watched the game last night, Middlesbrough get the basics right, well organised defence, get the ball forward with purpose, plenty of movement,  seems so simple until you watch us. Fair play to them Edwards has them set for a good season

Boro have just been very effective. 1-0 wins against Sheff U and Swansea, 2-1 against Norwich and WBA. Draw with Preston and battered Millwall. 
 

Not strolling through games but they’ve worked out how to win, we need some of that starting today
