benali-shorts Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Very tidy full debut today - good balance, two-footed, aggressive and with a desire to get forward. Hopefully he'll stay involved with the first team next season. 13
LuckyNumber7 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Very impressed, one of the few positives. Could be a nice bonus for us next season.
Saint_clark Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I know Sanda didn't have a huge amount to do but I liked the look of him too. Those two and Ballard will hopefully get more game time next season. 5
LoyalSaintSO50 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Looks a tidy player and a nice and easy chant ‘score a goal Jay Robinson, Southampton loves you more than you will know whoa whoa’ 5
Tauro Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I didn't watch the game today, but hopefully he can kick on with a bit of confidence. If he's to be a top player, he will look head an shoulders above in the Championship. Same with Dibling if they don't cash in on him. Ballard however just won't cut it it. Will probably ly end up kicking about league 2 or the conference long term. 1

Saint Fan CaM Posted May 25 Posted May 25 He’s certainly an ok player, but I don’t think he’d got the pace of a forward attacker. There were times today when he looked well behind the pace of Sulemana which is hopeless in terms of providing support. Not a starter for me. 2 1

We can't afford to give handouts next season. 2
davefizzy14 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 (edited) Jay Robinson looked really good today. A top talent, hopefully both him and Kayi Sanda will get more gametime next season. Edited May 25 by davefizzy14 2

Maybe I am being too generous - maybe another loan is the best option, to a side that will actually create some chances.
bugenhagen Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I thought he was poor in the first half. Most of what he tried ended with a poor pass. In the second half it looked like he felt that he belonged, and he began to impact the game in a positive way. His confidence grew, and he got better and better. 3

Disco Stu Posted May 26 Posted May 26 He seems quite big for a winger/wide forward. Not convinced by his athleticism but looked tidy enough. 1

His injury at Reading came at a really bad time. It seemed like he was just starting to find some form and the Reading fans were taking to him but that patellar tendon rupture really set him back. He hasn't looked the same since. 2

Hints of Ryan Seagar, and his injury at Crewe, hopefully a better outcome for Ballard.

That’s a comment on the lad who posted the recording, not the player who probably was just enjoying a Saturday night in pre-season. 1
Luke SkyWalker-Peters Posted Sunday at 14:04 Posted Sunday at 14:04 Congratulations to Jay for his first senior goal today. He took it well and it's good to have a bit of an aerial threat from a winger. I thought he looked very threatening in what will probably be our toughest league game of the year on paper. Hopefully he continues on this trajectory as he certainly seems to have the makings of a Premier League player. And I must say that it is very exciting to finally have a young player come through that we have on the books long-term. 13
Andrew Watson Posted Sunday at 16:15 Posted Sunday at 16:15 He looks a very good prospect and well done to him for scoring his first goal for first team goal today, hopefully the first of many. 9

To my mind he was the standout player in the U21's last season so it is good that he seems to have made a decent transition to the senior side. 1

Fortunately his football brain works at about 10 times the rate of Sulemana's. I know which one I'd rather have in the side. 9

He's got a really smart football brain, he seems to know when to move, where to move and when to release. That sort of stuff can't be coached, you either have a football brain or you don't, so if he has that in his locker at 18...then yeah, he's going to be a high level pro player for sure. Willo of Whiteley Posted Sunday at 20:49 Posted Sunday at 20:49 This guy is growing on me more and more every time I see him play. Very impressive again today. 2
Sheaf Saint Posted Sunday at 21:14 Posted Sunday at 21:14 OK it might be because I've had a few drinks, and I fully expect this to come back and bite me at some point, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Jay Rob is going to go on to be a better player than Dibling. 4

Dibling is more balanced, quicker, bigger. Robinson seems to have a better football brain, and shows more grit and heart. I think Dibling has more potential, but I'd hazard a guess that Robinson has more potential of achieving his potential. 2
Midfield_General Posted Monday at 10:47 Posted Monday at 10:47 (edited) He’s already contributed more in one match than Sulemana did in about two seasons. Going to really enjoy watching him play this season and on his showing so far he’ll be our next big money success story. He could easily be the breakout star of this season’s Championship. Skillful, direct, works hard, has an end product and has got a goal in him. Already look forward to seeing his name on the team sheet. Edited Monday at 11:01 by Midfield_General 6
franniesTache Posted Monday at 11:16 Posted Monday at 11:16 Think he's looked really good so far but worried we'll over play him and need to manage his time intelligently, obviously the uncertainty around Fernandes and Dibling makes that hard but we've sen what happens when you overplay young players early in the season, and the championship is a bloody long season. Also someone needs to take our fans and force them to listen to Simon and Garfunkle or the Lemonhead's version of Mrs Robinson, because i've never heard a group of fans sing a song so badly out of time - almost double the speed - and to a completely different tune before. It's like they knew the words but none of them knew the song, so just sang the word to a completely different tune instead
spyinthesky Posted Monday at 19:18 Posted Monday at 19:18 Just a thought, if we had looked to sign Jay Robinson from another club what's the general opinion of his worth relative to his nationality and age. £10m perhaps?
