100% this. So many centre backs available with experience in this league and we go for Quarshie. So many half decent attacking options with experience of English football and we go for Downs. So many better keepers available and we don't sign anyone. Absolutely fucking shit.

It’s pathetic.  We have no personality or spirit in the team and haven’t for some time.

when you structure the whole club as a “stepping stone” to something better you have no chance of growing your own “culture” and connection between player - club - fan

Anyone not come to the realisation that we need a proper manager yet? Another clueless hiring decision.

Something is rotten at our club. I don't know what it is but it's soul destroying and I'm fed up.

Since SR came in a complacent malaise has blanketed the club. We do worse every season and it's time for them to go.

I would.  Unfortunately he'd probably throw a few (much needed) fucks around, which would no doubt offend some of our more 'brittle' souls.

Why?  Done nothing of note.  Would prefer Steve Cooper to be honest.  He wouldn’t want to be the players fucking mate for a start.

Does anyone know if I get myself chemically castrated will I lose all interest in football?

I'm pretty sure interest in football and presence of working testicles aren't related.

Add it to the list.

Proper manager,

Proper defender,

Proper Striker,

Proper goalkeeper

Great to see the SR experiment with our club continues to be so hugely successful. When was the last time we actually recruited anyone, player or manager, fit for purpose and ready to contribute to the cause? On the unfortunately occasion I get to actually see the team play, it looks like we are literally playing a different sport to everyone else. Our style is so passive, boring and lacking in any basic cohesion. Frankly, it seems as if relegation is much more likely than promotion. NOTHING, is going to change until we get rid of these clowns running thr club.

I remember the optimism when they came in and we beat Brentford 4-1 in (I think) first game after the takeover. 😅

You are spot on here. Archer gets muscled every match. No strength in him. I despair of ever getting a robust, reliable striker. We have been crying out for one for ages but nobody listens. Frustrating as hell.

We need big Sam, Bolton style players this is garbage

When you've taken this shite for just short of sixty years then I might, just might listen to you.  Yes of course there were some highlights in that time,  but for the most part it has just been unrelenting pedestrian football played by vastly overpaid divas. A season such as the last one 'breaks' the players, the coaching staff and even the support and administrative staff and it will take years to recover. Frankly, I no longer have the patience or energy to chase a failing cause, especially with such donkeys as Spors at the helm.  Christ, I thought Russball was bad ...

He'd be more dangerous upfront than Downs

So would 99.9% of the forum. Sod it, 100% actually.

Damion Downs is a poundshop Paul Moody, Paul was hopeless at PL level but at least scored 20 a season for Oxford in League 1. Downs would struggle in the National League.

MESS from top to bottom...

Nothing will change with these SR clowns in charge..

Another "clever" managerial/coach appointment failure.

Promotion is gone already unless we have massive improvement and i cant see it TBH

Personally I thought he was overrated and the fact no PL side fancied him backed that up. Early days though, but if you are getting a free role you need to be the dogs bollocks, so he needs to do a bit more.

I am not sure I agree here, he's been quality in this league for a few years and whilst the Prem might be a stretch I was expecting more from him by now.

McCarthy

Jelert woods fuck knows Manning

Jander Charles

Armstrong Aribo Robinson

Archer

Would be my team for the next game.

As I said earlier, Matsuki must be worth a try after his performance at Norwich.

I cannot for the life of me understand why Robinson who was our stand out player for the first few weeks of the season has only played about 10 mins last week and fuck all this week. Absolute madness.

It’s almost like I said an hour ago that Adam Armstrong should be playing…

Who’d have thought that a player known for scoring 20-25 goals a season in the Championship would score.

I agree, he just needs a no 9 alongside him as he had today.

I’ve done most games for the last two seasons, but missed Ipswich and Wrexham on holiday. Haven’t seen us win since November 2024 😂 might fuck off again.

Abominable.

Supposedly better players on paper - definitely the inferior team on the pitch.

I badly want Still to succeed but fear he is a fake. If there's such a thing as the opposite of getting a tune out of bunch of players he's getting the exact opposite.

But it's not formations or anything complex that's exposing him for me -  it's just the basic stuff for anyone who's played the game. Throw-ins - let's have some movement and 'offers' - throw it forward FFS. And for corners -INSWINGERS not outswingers FFS...he's just not there.

Charles played well. The newcomers did little to impress - Downs has shown nothing to convince me he's the killer striker we need (did he win one header today?) Roerslev was gash, Fellowes will be good but didn't play particularly well today, Scienza meh, Azaz meh...

Any positives at all from that? Armstrong was a bright, energetic spark even before he scored.

6 points out of a possible 18 says it all. We are crap.

Please, for the love of God, someone say that there were some fans left letting rip at the players and staff at the end instead of ambivalently clapping them off.

he's scored some goals at this level. But that doesn't automatically mean he's a great championship player. Whatever his level, we need to get more from him (and others). For me, not having a solitary striker that can be a focal point and play off is an issue. None of Downs, Stewart, Armstrong and Archer have so far shown they are that player.

Matsuki, Robinson... two players that have shown a forward intent are nowhere near the team.

There just didn't seem to be any direction today. No urgency and no real purpose. Really think in a couple of games we'll be heading for mid table obscurity unless something changes.

We’d have to win for that to happen!

I'd snatch your hand off for mid table obscurity - I think relegation is the real bogeyman.

Such a poor display.

Hull have a side built on a fraction of the resources we have. It's put together to be the best that it can be, as a unit, and they've had rumblings of transfer restrictions over them.

We, on the other hand, still go by SR's incoming mantra. Lowest possible individual wages. Buy potential. Make profit.

So Hull have a core of experienced pros, capable of working together and digging out some progress in games.

We have a group of players at a stepping stone club, who aren't capable of filling key roles in a football team, following the latest set of mediocre instructions from SR's latest "project" manager.

We are where SR set out their stall to be, from the moment they took over. A championship level side, that they are cleverly maximising the potential of to rake in profits.

Except, their appalling grasp of squad management, player and manager recruitment and the history of football has just left us with a championship level squad bereft of a clue, a structure and any cohesion.

They have put in money, and have good intentions. Just let down by all of their decision making.

Players who can look to be in the next team:-
Stephens - who offered a couple of runs, that at least forced Hull to think.
AA - Who looks frustrated at not being picked.
Fraser - Put in more of an effort than any of the others.

The rest can be added to the names of the away fans today, and put into a selection tombola for next time out.

If we're totally honest, we look like a bunch of strangers with no real idea of how to play yet. That's how I see it anyway.

Still no excuse to be beaten by 3 at Hull though, who are a truly tinpot Champ level club if we're honest.

We didn't really do anything, again. Players not playing to each others strengths and people making runs not seen.

This team, in terms of personal and quality, is light years behind the side we last had at this level - the quality dragged us through many games. I just don't see the same level of quality now IMO. Championship players from back to front really, no prem level anywhere I can see.

We look destined to become Norwich, Swansea and that lot and I don't see anyway we avoid that. Cheers Sports Republic for destroying my home town team.
