macca155 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago My first time at Ashton Gate and I can't say I'm overconfident. Having said that Bristol City will be wary of Saints. We're all pissed off and pessimistic, but the team is clearly a handful to play against. Better away from home it would seem. With a resilient defence starting to emerge a draw is likely, because we can't bloody score. Mads and Manning in I reckon. Charles looked knackered on Saturday so Downes may get a start. Bring it on, something has to click soon. 1
Vancouver Saint Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago We are owed one. 0-1 to the Saints. Own goal naturally.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago What a bunch of pansies some of you lot are - there’s every chance we can go get a result. Providing that is if Still sticks as much as possible with the same team. That’s essential in my view - it was starting to click yesterday and just needed a little bit of luck to see one of the shots go in rather than hit woodwork. Based on the better passages of play I would say the team is starting to gel - partnerships working. Still must not disrupt that if atall possible. Screw any players that are discontent because they’re not favoured - it’s not a popularity contest. Keep Baz, Stephens and Manning out of the team and we might…just might…win a game of football. 0-1 Saints. COYR! 8

Wade Garrett Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Let’s play to the strengths of the talented players in the squad. 4-2-3-1. McCarthy Mads, Wood, ?, Wellington Jander Charles Fellows Azaz Scienza Archer 10

All that money spent on new attacking players in the summer and we still have to rely on goals from two of the poorest defenders in the squad to actually get a win at home. Fuck me that's depressing. Thripp87 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) I remember a 0-3 win at Ashton Gate in an early league cup round game. Must have been around 2002? Anyway, it wont be a 0-3 away win tomorrow. Draw at best. Edited 12 hours ago by Thripp87

Morse Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I was considering this game and its possible outcome until I realised that for the first time ever I dont actually give a fuck. 2 wins this century or whatever the state is has worn me down. 2
DT Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago More shit tactics and uninspiring leadership mixed with inept strikers, an overly defensive set up and a bunch of individuals who are not gelling or give any evidence of believing in what the coach has to say/dreaming of being at other clubs, soundly beaten by a team who play together and will slice us apart with enthusiasm if not skill. 3-0 1 1
Saint86 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) 12 hours ago, Badger said: match highlights on Youtube. After that Jander post effort, blackmore exclaims, "how's it not gone in?!" I would struggle to think of a better phrase to describe our entire performance ffs. Strikers were given it on a plate time after time after time after time... shambolic finishing. Scienza though, what a player to have at this level - needs to start and have the attack build around him. The front 4 should be Scienza, Azaz, fellows, and AA up top - and keep doing it until they start firing. Edited 11 hours ago by Saint86 4
Saint_Tony Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Can't see us getting anything out of this, Bristol City have been very impressive under their new manager. Have a very decent keeper as well on the off chance we get a shot on target. Think Still has to keep an unchanged side for this one. Should be a good atmosphere in a packed away end at least. Bristol City 2-0 Saints
Lighthouse Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 33 minutes ago, Saint86 said: After that Jander post effort, blackmore exclaims, "how's it not gone in?!" The most tragic thing is that had it been one of our defenders at the other end, probably three out of five of them would have bundled that rebound over the line for an o.g. Trying to clear it away.
DT Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Might as well call that highlights reel from the last game 'Amstrong is shit'. Fuck me his shots are awful. His reaction speed glacial. His heading ability non existent. How he gets a game for us is amazing, and an indictment on our coaching/scouting. PS what does Adam Lallana do all day? 3
Charlie Wayman Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The big question for me is should I waste another £16 on a Sky one day sports membership pass to watch our lads run around like a load of headless chickens getting nowhere?

The three league games prior to Saturday seemed to be 4 at the back, or does the BBC website have that wrong? I noticed Quarshie didn't even make the bench, yet started the game before. Was he injured or dropped ? Edited 7 hours ago by Chez

He doesn't give a monkey's of what is around him or who is in what position. In his head, he is shooting no matter what, or from where. He isn't the only one. Archer had a chance to lay the ball off to him in space, 8 yards out. Instead, he took on a shot for the top corner. The more difficult of the two options. Archer and Adams are so alike in that they are selfish and not very good. Either playing alongside an unselfish target man, would be acceptable but...... Armstrong though, as soon as the ball goes to him, you know the move is finished. Snaps shoots from anywhere and continually fires straight at the keeper or a defender, or not on target at all. Adams and Archer (same thing) and Downs, who is the opposite. Can't even get on (hides from) the ball. What a crock of sh1te we are up top. Edited 7 hours ago by CheshireSaint 3

McCarthy Mads, Wood, ?, Wellington Jander Charles Fellows Azaz Scienza Archer It's got to be this really, although Jelert in for Mads would be ok and maybe even Armstrong for Archer (they're both as ineffective as each other in my eyes). Get balls played through on the floor to the striker instead of lobbing crosses in to nobody, get Fellows and Scienza running at full backs and cutting in, and just generally get Bristol defenders running back towards their own goal. We need to be quicker, more decisive and more positive. It won't happen of course. And people saying we had loads of chances against Swansea....ok, the stats say we had plenty of 'shots' but the only real clear cut chance in my opinion was the Armstrong/Jander one in the second half. The others were half chances at best resulting in pass backs to their goalkeeper most of the time as they were either rushed efforts or from a shit position, and this all boils down to our ponderous build up and system of play, because by the time we get a shot away the other team have about 25 (feels like) players behind the ball!

die Mannyschaft Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago What pub nr Ashton gate is everyone going to? Stick with same starting 11 from Sat and limited subs and don't issue open goals. Perhaps players need to shoot at empty goal in warm up.

IFHP Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Tough game against a play off chasing side away from home, id take another draw but they may have too much for us, especially at home. Not played them in the league too often but we’ve not got a good record at Aston Gate , let’s hope that changes.
