LuckyNumber7 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Let's be honest, most people on here have been saying for months that our team of soft arses were going to wilt and embarrass us in this game, but they didn't. Far from a brilliant performance but they did compete and get stuck in, like others have said I really liked Downes' performance and he looked like he was enjoying it. I think they realised how much this meant and we can't question their effort. I like the look of Peretz, so much more commanding than Baz. He'll make the odd clanger I think but he inspires a lot more confidence, he's a proper 'keeper. Overall I'm frustrated not to have won after looking in control, but the main thing is we didn't lose. They barely created anything and only scored with a handball. It could have been a lot worse. 18
rooney Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Armstrong squandered two good chances otherwise we would have won. 4
Totton Saint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago from the ridiculous to the sublime i.e. from messing about at the back to now hoofing long upfield with low chance of Sts getting on the end of them. 2
Give it to Ron Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Fair play to the team really battled- don’t agree about Peretz some great punches first half but as usual players get better when not playing for us! Bree and Wellington excellent again and tough game against Bishop and THB and Stephens competed well I thought. Azaz really put in a shift and Armstrong should have done far better. That point may not be enough for them one of their games in hand is Ipswich:-) Edited 7 hours ago by Give it to Ron 1

Absolute no quality at all. All they had was a hoof up the field. Shame we got dragged down to their level in the end. 4

pimpin4rizeal Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Referee was definitely letting a lot go and it was turning into a pretty vicious match with rash tackles flying in everywhere at 1-0 up I guess you just want to see it out and not end up with players out injured. Not a tonda fan at all but don’t think he did much wrong today tbh without the freak equaliser there wasn’t much to moan about 3
saintant Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Our passing and movement is just not good enough. We don't come short into the space to receive the ball, we don't get between the lines and our passing is so sloppy even when under little pressure. Clearly the drills on the training ground are not making things better. It really frustrates that we are so static and play with such a lack of intelligence. We need a bloody good coach brought in to explain how simple this game can be because we make everything look so difficult. 6

beatlesaint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago 4 minutes ago, AlexLaw76 said: Jack Stephens was good today Yes he was. Very pleased the way they battled and dug in. Charles needs to come in as a starter, he’s class. I think we looked more secure as a back four and Bree was very good. Didnt think that Matsuki experiment worked, apart from that great flick leading to the Armstrong chance he gave the ball, or fouls away a fair bit. Fair result in the end really although once we got in front we were in control so it was disappointing not to hold on although another 10 mins and we might have lost.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Bree and wellington look really solid and big upgrades at fullback. with Charles coming back into the reckoning and azaz and fellows now being freed up I to play their proper positions I think we could see another run of good form 11
Teamsaint1 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago 1 minute ago, hypochondriac said: He was. Credit where credit is due I think he will be better in a back four. To be at the top end of the Championship you really don’t need a team of international superstars. But you do need a bit of class somewhere in the team, some team spirit, some players desperate for a shot at the big time ( money) , good organisation, a proper plan, some experience etc etc. No reason at all that JS can’t be part of the mix. He was last time when we got a hell of a lot more points, albeit with a better squad.

OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Back four again worked well. THB and Stephens very solid and Bree was excellent. In fact, I remember him with much blonder hair and not so tall. Was that really Bree playing? In the end, disappointed we didn't get all three points from being 1-0 up because that play off place has more or less slipped away. Scienza is becoming a legend. He was getting it in the neck from those morons all the first half, so great to see his celebration. 4

rallyboy Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago From where we were a few weeks ago I'll have your arm off for 1-1. But, it should have been better, as should this whole squad. Putting a positive spin on it, they blew their best two chances of beating us in years. 6

Adman Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 1 hour ago, Fabrice29 said: Really? We'd just scored on the break, we were hardly in a flow or in control were we? It was a VAR decision and a missed 1 on 1 away from a perfect away performance. Didn't do anything stupid, stood up to the physicality, atmosphere and game the home side wanted to play and created the best chances in the game. Bringing on 2 players the fans were pissed off about not starting and another who is probably our best player when up and running is hardly the disaster people think it is. Yep. Really shouts not content. Skate. 1
Nordic Saint Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It's frustrating that there was no VAR to disallow their handball goal but that's still 5 games and 16 years undefeated against them. 4

madge Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Thought Pompey were good considering they had so many players out. The problem is for me is that we’re not good enough to beat them. We gave Pompey a huge physiological advantage by not starting fellows. Tonda is not good enough. Nowhere near good enough. 1

Azaz? at times like today apart from the pass to set up the goal, IMO offered another wasted lazy performance, maybe the Boro fans were glad to see the back of him?
