ChristopheVAFC Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago That’s the end of this strange match and the end of our two nations’ World Cup campaigns. Well done to you all on this victory – France can’t win by playing just one half… Now it’s time for our teams to focus on the league. 6–4 – just like a tennis set! 2
Colinjb Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago The time when it was only Messi and Ronaldo who could claim to be the best in the world. We are spoilt now.
obelisk Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago That was a hilarious game. If England's best form of defence is just to score goals then I can live with that. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago That's it England have won the World Cup ( the 3rd bronze Cup) 4-6.

HarvSFC Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Nice reminder that Scotland were playing for third place in the group stages, rather than the tournament… 2

obelisk Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Is there a bronze cup or something? Presumably the players are hanging around for some reason.

Colinjb Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago England vastly exceeded xG in this game. A true victory.
SWLondon Saint Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Watched from about our 4th goal on. Surprisingly that did actually make me feel a bit better about the whole thing, hopefully the players will feel like it's unfinished business for the Euros. We don't have France's front 4 but it's fair to say we're not that far off.

We don't have France's front 4 but it's fair to say we're not that far off. We're close. Starting XI players for the Euros are Pickford, Guehi, Rice, Anderson, Saka, Bellingham and Kane. And possibly James if he can stay fit. We just need to build the team and squad around them. I think Gordon and Spence grew into the tournament, Konsa is pretty solid, Rodgers showed some moments. But I think we need more English players coming through to challenge them. We have a chance at the Euros, we've showed we shouldn't fear other European teams.
bolo Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Agent Olise completed his mission. How many chances did he have? 3, maybe 4?
HarvSFC Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Love how Bellingham's actually top class and actually turns up to major tournaments for England.
Saint Pete Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Great fun to watch tonight and it's always nice to beat the French. But you have to take account the circumstances, at times I thought Fifa must have outlawed tackling altogether since the semi finals! An England-France final would of course have been an altogether different game, no doubt with a lot less goals!
Jimmy_D Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Nice to see England finish a tournament with a win! Glad France actually made a bit of a game of it since would probably felt a lot more hollow if they just played the same as the first half, especially if it takes the golden boot off of Messi. Such a good opportunity missed but the best result since ‘66… mixed feelings to say the least but less bitter than I expected to feel. 1
benjii Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago So was Saka actually fit enough to play 90 mins earlier in the tourney? Still doesn't paper over Tuchel's disasterclass the other night. 2 1

saintant Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago One of the things I took away from watching the game was that, even when France had made subs, scored and were dominating the game, we didn't retreat into our shell. We kept men forward and counter attacked effectively when we could which led to us scoring two more goals which helped win us the game. Pity we hadn't done that against Argentina. 2

The difference in the mentality of the players was obvious, take away that fear of failure and they look a different team. Plus a bit of pace upfront helps. 1

Plus a bit of pace upfront helps. Half of sport is confidence. With teams close in ability or ranking its game management and the mindset to adapt and take your chances. In tennis the top 30 in mens ranking are quite capable of beating anyone. But Wimbledon which is the world cup of tennis you see the same group of players and coaching teams winning in latter stages. Tuchel may now have seen the light, the holy grail that's beyond possession football and defensive setup

There was no pressure on in 3rd place playoff ,no one wants , match so it was refreshing to see 2 teams playing end to end football and the England players going home with joy and their heads held high , as they say.
