Awful handball to give away at the death. Can we go back to the days of the attacker not being able to stop his run on a penalty. The goalkeeper was on the floor when Jimenez struck it the opposite side.

Just watched the replay of the handball. The ref can't give that because there is no way he can be 100% sure that the players hand is inside the box. If he isn't sure he shouldn't give it.

Anthony Taylor retiring this week and moaning that the press, fans and especially ex-refs create a pressured and hostile environment.

Referees so it to themselves in English football. Dozens of horror mistakes every weekend. They wouldn’t get away with their standards in any other industry or sectors.

I think the on field officials need VAR to avoid getting so many obvious decisions wrong. VAR is not perfect but it has shown up the amount of guesswork which goes on every week, particularly with the linos and their hilariously bad off-side calls. 

The best ones are when a defender and attacker challenge for the ball right on the goal-line and the the ball hits one foot and then the other really quickly. You have some middle aged twat about 40 yards away desperately trying to keep up with play, at an angle where he clearly cannot see, make a complete guess as to wether it's a goal kick or a corner. Then when he invariably books a player for arguing after he gets it completely wrong.

Isn't that what they're meant to do anyway? And if they're sure and they're miles off get rid and bring in XAI. Expected guess at a decision made by a computer, reviewed by someone who hasn't a clue and then give the goal to the big team.

They are the darlings of the pundits. Many tipping them for automatic and raving about the atmosphere around the club and what an excellent coach Hellberg is, and of course Gibbo. I will hate the cunts for a very long time and don’t intend letting anything go

This is what i don't understand. Middlesborough's form over the last part of the season was poor and they've lost 2 of their best players. Don't dispute that Lankshire (sp?) will score goals for them but the manager (and team) under performed over the last few months of the season and will surely be under pressure pretty quickly if the team doesn't live up to these exalted expectations

Hellberg has actually done quite poorly.

He took charge when they were second and he managed them to fifth, losing out on autos, a play off semi against us and a final all in the space of four weeks.

They may have lost their best player but they had three weaknesses - couldn’t convert the many chances they had, let in easy goals and tire out with the ‘relentless’ attack in the first 60 minutes. 

whether Lankshear can do the goalscoring, we’ll have to see. They have improved the defence so have addressed that issue. I can’t remember if they have bought a commanding midfielder to help support the team out of possession for when they tire. 

Of course bottling promotion three times will be hard to shake and as genuine automatic promotion chasers, the pressure will be on.

Bolton marking their return to the Championship, currently 2-0 up against historical Lancashire rivals PNE.

Meanwhile in League One, I'm immensely proud to say that my Nephew will be making his full debut for Sheffield Wednesday today. He's in the starting lineup away at Orient.

I think they produced loads of chances in each game but just couldn't finish. As a result, many Boro fans are really pleased and confident with Hellberg in charge.

Still cunts, mind.

Tyler Onyango. Came through the Everton academy (and is best mates with Lewis Dobbin) and was released in the summer after a few L1 loans in recent years. He's been plagued by hamstring injuries which have really hampered his career so far, but the new DOF at Wednesday Simon Wilson knows him well from his time on loan at Stockport and has put faith in him with a 3 year contract.
