Saint_lambden Posted Saturday at 20:57 Posted Saturday at 20:57 Right then, on to the next one after a massive win at Wet Spam. QPR off the back of a cracking 5-0 victory over Swansea. Ironically the last time we played them it was 5-0 but this will certainly be a lot tougher than that. Kone the danger man for them - a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes today. The return of Ronnie Edwards - let's hope he plays his usual level at SMS. Dobbin coming in and doing so well at Hammers means we're less desperate to get Larin rushed back in so only really headache for Tonda is whether to go with Downes or Jander in the middle, assuming the former will be back available. 2-1 Saints. 2
OneMrsWallace Posted Saturday at 21:25 Posted Saturday at 21:25 I'm hoping their win today will encourage them to play an open game rather than trying to keep it tight. Open game suits us so 2-0 win.
Turkish Posted Saturday at 21:36 Posted Saturday at 21:36 They’re good at home not so good away, I think we’ll have enough to beat them 2
Harry_SFC Posted Saturday at 21:42 Posted Saturday at 21:42 Would be tempting to stick with the same 11 but if Larin is fit enough I'd always start him. Downes I'd be cautious with and bring him back from the bench. Peretz, Bree, Stephens, Schlotterbeck, Manning, Jander, JWP, Matsuki, Azaz, Scienza, Larin. 2
Jack Posted Sunday at 01:34 Posted Sunday at 01:34 Their away form has been pretty good this season. Wins at Pompey and Blackburn, draws at Charlton, WBA, West Ham, and just one defeat last time out at Birmingham. Sure we’ll fancy it with our home form but won’t be easy. 2

Admittedly they had a great win today against a decent Swansea side but with us at home, at least on paper, we should be winning this. Despite the win today it would be nice to see Cyle and Flynn back though. Fully fit squad to choose from then. Edited Sunday at 01:58 by SNSUN 1
whelk Posted Sunday at 06:17 Posted Sunday at 06:17 Comfortable 4-1 win. Nice free week for Tonda to work on his game plan but don’t over think nullifying them. 1
Cumbria Saint Posted Sunday at 06:26 Posted Sunday at 06:26 Interesting. In the last six games no team has won more than four and the top four have all lost one and drawn one. So far there is no standout team as you might have expected West Ham or even Middlesbrough to have been. We just need to get that four point monkey off our backs and we're in with a chance of automatic promotion. (Yes, I know we haven't chipped away any of those points yet but that feel good factor is returning).

Tonda will have one eye on the tricky Tuesday night trip to West Brom as well so wouldn't surprise me if we did see some changes. QPR better than last season, I'll go for a 2-1 win Keeping the same team as West Ham would make sense to me and allow Larin and Downes a few more days to recover (we could do without Larin jetting off to Canada for November international break)
Pamplemousse Posted Sunday at 07:19 Posted Sunday at 07:19 It won't be as easy as last season but we always beat them - 6 wins in a row and counting.

Football Special Posted Sunday at 08:53 Posted Sunday at 08:53 QPR have sold out the full 3,008 away end , should make for a decent atmosphere, quite a few home end tickets still available particularly either side of the away fans

sfc4prem Posted Sunday at 09:17 Posted Sunday at 09:17 This'll be a good game. Not end to end but both sides will create decent chances. I suspect we'll just have enough with Peretz to pull a few blinders and players like Matsuki up top who can take chances clinically. 3-1 to the Saints.

The block next to the away fans isn’t the family stand. It’s a few blocks up. Chapel has been better last few games. 1
hypochondriac Posted Sunday at 23:25 Posted Sunday at 23:25 Big game this. If we win this we are guaranteed to go above one of wba or West ham (possibly both.) 1

Two very tricky games in the space of a few days, WBA looking like a tough away trip the following Tuesday, Tonda might be less likely to make changes with a two week international break coming up giving most of the squad time to recover. 1
Vale54 Posted yesterday at 07:51 Posted yesterday at 07:51 I'd be tempted to keep changes to a minimum for this one. We've finally got a bit of momentum and QPR aren't exactly coming here short of confidence after putting five past Swansea. The West Brom game is obviously another tough one, but I'd rather worry about that afterwards than start rotating too much now. Three points on Saturday would put us in a very decent position. 2
AlexLaw76 Posted yesterday at 07:59 Posted yesterday at 07:59 I reckon Downs for Jander, and Larin to start if fit.

Cabrone Posted yesterday at 10:13 Posted yesterday at 10:13 Another tough game, lots of firepower on both sides so QPR will come to play. That is good for us. 3-2 / 3-1 to Saints.

Saint Garrett Posted yesterday at 15:23 Posted yesterday at 15:23 We're at home, I expect us to win. Feeling a bit more confident about the wider "squad" after Dobbin has come in and done well in recent weeks. Difficult to change it that much but competition for places, especially in CM...can Stephens play 3 in a week? Peretz Bree Stephens Schlotterbeck Manning JWP Jander Matsuki Azaz Scienza Dobbin COYS 3

macca155 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago (edited) Agree on unchanged team, although Matsuki looked spent on Saturday, so maybe cover for him. Dobbin will be pumping after an excellent game Saturday. Give Larin time to recover. On that note young Princewill has scored another 2 tonight for the U21s, currently 4 1 up. He has to go on the bench Saturday, he must have done enough to earn a chance by now. Edit 5 1 now Hatrick for Princewill Edited 20 hours ago by macca155 3

I read that he’s turned 21 though, so not a complete youngster. Seems now is the time to give him a go. If not he’ll be on loan next season and following Ballard’s route out. 3

I just hope he's not another Cosimo Sarli. That player was a beast in the youth and reserve sides and then disappeared!

Unless Tonda is an idiot (he isn't), that ain't a wake up call. We created several golden chances because we’re a far better side than Bolton. We started with a really weird lineup that clearly limited us, hence Tonda ditching it halfway through the first half. Against West Ham he went back to putting our players in their obvious positions - Azaz as a 10, wingers in their correct positions, not having a right winger at left wing back, and it looked far more natural with the players knowing their roles. It could easily be argued that Tonda learnt something from Bolton and reverted to a more obvious and uncomplicated setup at West Ham, and I hope he does the same against QPR

revolution saint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'd be interested in seeing how Larin matches up against Edwards (if he's fit). Edwards is one of those players that seems to have a lot of hype around him but I didn't see anything to justify it at all - relatively small for a CB, not very quick and easily bullied. I didn't see any of his supposed composure either so if he plays anything like he did when he was with us then Larin should have an easy afternoon.
