disconnect Posted June 17 Posted June 17 They currently have much better players than the rest of the league, however, lets see how that looks in 3 months time. If he does sign someone like Smallbone, he'd be one of the better players in the league, especially good for a team who with better players will be passing it around their opponents. If any other League One managers are watching though - just press their defenders and keeper - even if you're only getting 30% possession, you'll almost certainly intercept a suicide pass within the box and score a tap in. 3

That, and the threaded pass from the centre half into midfield are the ones that I'd be looking to jump on. Let them have the ball, wait for the CB to bring it out and try and make that pass into feet, then spring the press so that when you win possession you've got men over and can get straight in behind while the central defenders are still pushed up and isolated because the wing backs are miles up the pitch waiting for a ball that never comes. 1
Dr. Kucho Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Martin is a good man manager as the players always seem to like him and say they want to play for him. He’s just a poor tactical manager and to stubborn to adapt his style to beat the opposition. If Leicester have a stronger squad than others next season he can play his possession based game and get them promoted. If others have an equal squad he’ll struggle and ship goals left right and centre. 1 1

Don't forget sticking a man on the deep lying midfielder. Downes was excellent at it for us under Martin but when he was out injured or suspended we couldn't replace him. Smallbone definitely couldn't play that role and Winks and Skipp will probably move on. 1

Crab Lungs Posted June 21 Posted June 21 He’ll do fine for them. interestingly, it took under 10 seconds for the obligatory ‘hair tuck behind the ear’ from Russ in the first interview. Been watching a lot of Leicester podcasts recently, it’s been a bit like rubbernecking. Almost dislocated my jaw in shock when one of the podders said Bazunu was a ‘commanding goalkeeper’ 😳 2

coalman Posted June 21 Posted June 21 https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/139537-martin-russell-he-says/ It's all about the energy. Plus all the usual bollocks about working harder than the other side and playing dominant football.

The wagon of Snake Oil Martin and the Cult of High Energy rolls into another town. 🙂 I sure hope the players give everything, absolutely everything, in attack and in defence, all the time. If not, Martin has already set them up to be the problem.

It's funny how Rangers fans are all over his latest YouTube interview displaying similar levels of PTSD to fans of his previous clubs and being told to get over it.

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 26 minutes ago, trousers said: If only people stopped posting about how many pages there were.... #banter There seems to be interest in a number of Leicester players (as posted elsewhere). While scar tissue may be less, if everyone leaves, he may find himself with another squad build as he had at Rangers. Better for both, had he joined them last summer. If there's massive departures, all the more reason to get the likes of Will in. Someone already accustomed to the systems, 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have no doubt that Leicester will come straight back up even after a lot of their better players are sold off. They’ll still have a core of decent experienced players that will do a job comfortably.
