I'd take that report with a pinch of salt.

Yeah absolutely, that report may be rubbish, but we do have history for doing stuff like this with unwanted players, which ultimately plants ourselves into a corner because we were too greedy or deluded.

Thing is you never really know the full story anyway so it's difficult to judge and deals get structured so differently that it's rarely a case of "we want 10M" or whatever.  Ultimately if, at the end of the window, he's still here then we've either not done a good enough job at getting rid of him, or clubs actually weren't that interested or tempting enough for a player going into the last year of a contract.

Wrexham are trying to sign Christian Eriksen. That's a big signing for a Championship team.

Despite Eriksen being 34 in the new year, more chance of Hans Christian Anderson, I would think...

SaintsExtra is not the source of the story; they act as a news aggregator. They include the tag of where they got the story from.

HSV officials have now had to cross a name that had recently been hotly tipped off their list. They would have liked to lure Armel Bella-Kotchap from Southampton FC to the Volksparkstadion. However, after a direct exchange with the English club, it's clear: The relegated Premier League team will not loan out its defender as HSV had intended. Instead, Southampton is considering a sale, and according to information obtained by MOPO, HSV has been given a price tag of ten million euros. Clearly too much for Hamburg, who would have only been able to meet Bella-Kotchap's lavish salary expectations if it had been a loan.

Why didn't you actually answer his question?

I've no idea who it is. But who it is has no bearing on the truth of the rumours posted by them (if that is what he was getting at).

I remember Les Reed at the fans forum in August 2018 actually trying to convince the audience in response to a question about Guido Carrillo that he was still going to be a huge asset to the club in the future. He got the huge roar of derisive laughter he so richly deserved. Shortly afterwards he was reunited with Mauricio Stresshead at Leganes, scoring a whopping 7 goals in 56 games. Still, better than he did at Elche, 5 in 50.

What a dull summer transfer wise so far

I was thinking the same but we have enough players many of whom got us promoted recently and others recruited for the PL

Unless we move players out I cannot see many new players coming in

I'm sure the last two weeks will be a hive of activity with loads out including many we would rather keep and a few in. Just worth pointing out how dull it's been so far. Just a fringe CB and striker in so far and nothing out after the excellent two early departures.

TBF he could argue he's kept to that already with all the incomings off the pitch. Lallana's transition to coach is like a new signing!

Aye, but it's quite clear (to me) that he meant we'd be "very, very active" in the on-field department too.

"TransferRoom is taking football’s transfer market into the digital age and making football transfers easy."

"When selling a player you want to appeal to as many potential buyers as possible."

Can we get anything from Ankersen. Get on the phone to his brother, because we're still finding football transfers hard.

We just want to find one potential buyer for our deadwood.

Saints probably trying to call ABK’s bluff. How desperate does he want to leave? Not enough as long as he’s picking up massive wages.

He’ll be released on deadline day, they’ll come to a compromise.

Would be even funnier to see him sulk for four months. 🤣

Apart from Brum, I’ve not been that fussed on most of the Championship transfers so far. Ipswich signed 40-year old Ashley Young today. Imagine the reaction on here if Spors had done that….

Wrexham are incoherent - signing some decent mid-table Champ players, although not as many as they need to, and then suddenly going for Eriksen.

Norwich have gained a couple of very good players for this level but then lost one and about to lose another.

PL is warped by Liverpool’s spending spree.

Still time for things for change but the current crop of DoFs in the top tier of English football are pretty uninspiring at the moment.

I don’t think they’ll be any major signings for the Championship. A few good players will be sold to the Premier League but I don’t see many other Championship teams picking anyone significant up.

Saints, Leicester and Ipswich will go out of the transfer window with largely the same squads I reckon.

Looks like it at the moment although still time - albeit not a lot - for it to change. Depends if Leicester get any sanctions (doubt it).

Everton won't be paying anything over £30m so hopefully others seriously interested too.

Unfortunately imagine we will struggle to get what once seemed feasible due to his contract status and drop off in the 2nd half of the season.

I can not imagine Moyes signing him full stop never mind persuading his board to spend what they will need to get him.

It's not overly surprising given we haven't managed to shift anyone yet. I don't wish we were other clubs but there have been some moves that I would describe as ambitious and not yet from us. I was hoping for some ambitious strengthening alongside keeping a couple of our bigger names and not just lesser replacements for them when they depart.

Make the tw@t clean the bogs until his contact is up, particularly after the Pompey game.

Biggest concern is it’s starting to feel like we are gonna end up with bazunu in goal this season ..surely we have an idea if ramsdale wants out or not ?  If so might as well get a replacement  sorted now instead of dithering about waiting for him to go first and leaving everything last minute ?

Bit of an overreaction with 5 weeks of the window left

No need to replace out best players when they haven't left and we do not know for sure that they will

The squad needs to be smaller, alot smaller before more incomings.

A lot of activity I'm the window comes at the end. As a result of players/agents/clubs waiting to get the best possible outcome for themselves

Would be foolish to get a Ramsdale replacement without 100% knowing he is leaving. If a replacement was signed and Ramsdale ended up staying it creates a big squad and financhial mess.

Don’t see the big deal really we sign downs when we have plenty of other striker options .. not to mention if ramsdale wants to go its fairly obvious he will get a move as he’s pretty much a top ten premiership keeper no chance he stays. . I’d much rather get a replacement in now then end up having bazunu in goal as we left it too late that would be an absolute disaster

Is it not pretty obvious why goalkeepers and strikers are a bit different in that regard?

1) Strikers can be rotated for league games, goalkeepers are not normally. Managers tend to pick a 1st choice and stick with it.

2) We sold Onuachu, which makes room for Downs in the squad. I wouldn't view Armstrong or Brereton Díaz as central players (Still is playing them out wide), so that leaves only Downs, Stewart and Archer for 1 central striker role.

3) You didn't address this... Would be foolish to get a Ramsdale replacement without 100% knowing he is leaving. If a replacement was signed and Ramsdale ended up staying it creates a big squad and financhial mess.
