It's symptomatic of the culture of the club. Nothing is ever anyone's fault. Responsibility is a form of performative art. And this culture starts at the top - as a former boss used to say "a fish rots from the head".

To be fair to WS, he did take the responsibility for the results. But as said earlier, it wasn’t him misses the many chances up top or cocking things up at the back.
Although there are some weak areas, this squad is plenty good enough to be pushing for the play offs at the moment. If Eckert gets results in the next 3 matches it will not be unreasonable to ask why Still was unable to do the same with the same squad.

FORWARD Adam Armstrong admitted Southampton's players have not been giving 100 per cent, but stopped short of suggesting that they are not trying.

Then the club shouldn’t be giving them 100 per cent of their wages. I do miss the days of Adkins, Pochetinno, Koeman and Strachan when we had a squad of largely likeable players and I looked forward to the next game.

On the exception of Scienza, Charles and a few others this squad has some absolute helmets in it.

Fair play, Will Still must have been fucking terrible.

Think he'd be cursing the finishing today and against Swansea for example.

Not to mention the build up play to the goals. He must be spinning in his grave.

While I'm still far from convinced by Eckert, today's performance shows beyond any doubt just how utterly shit Will Still's management and coaching was.

We looked like a proper team today, and what's even more telling is that the substitutions, unlike under Still, didn't completely wreck our shape and game plan and leave us fighting a desperate rearguard action.

Just further evidence of terrible judgement on the part of Spors/SR for hiring him in the first place.

The football we played today was what I was expecting when he was appointed.

Fast, forward play, aggressive, determination. And we got none of it. Such a disappointment.

When the skates dominated against us, in hindsight we should have sacked him there and then. And now look at us.

The performance against Pompey was a disgrace

As was Hull, and to a lesser extent Derby. He should have gone then.

Agree with your opening comment, and conclusion.

But I wouldn’t read too much into the substitutions today. Subs don’t normally come on to the luxury of a 5-1 lead. They didn’t need to chase or change the game, all they had to do was stifle an already beaten and demoralised opposition. Avoid any monumental fuck ups, and not lose a 4 goal advantage. Not too much to ask    even for us.

Pre-season wasn’t at all inspiring either. Can go all the way back to going 1 nil down to Totton

The warnings were there the moment the loons appointed him .

Pffft, I think the warning signs were there when he first played Football Manager.

We have one of the best teams in championship and he made us look like one of the worst team there.

Sums it up perfectly.
