To be fair to WS, he did take the responsibility for the results. But as said earlier, it wasn’t him misses the many chances up top or cocking things up at the back. 
Although there are some weak areas, this squad is plenty good enough to be pushing for the play offs at the moment. If Eckert gets results in the next 3 matches it will not be unreasonable to ask why Still was unable to do the same with the same squad.

Then the club shouldn’t be giving them 100 per cent of their wages. I do miss the days of Adkins, Pochetinno, Koeman and Strachan when we had a squad of largely likeable players and I looked forward to the next game. 

On the exception of Scienza, Charles and a few others this squad has some absolute helmets in it.

While I'm still far from convinced by Eckert, today's performance shows beyond any doubt just how utterly shit Will Still's management and coaching was. 

We looked like a proper team today, and what's even more telling is that the substitutions, unlike under Still, didn't completely wreck our shape and game plan and leave us fighting a desperate rearguard action.

Just further evidence of terrible judgement on the part of Spors/SR for hiring him in the first place.

Agree with your opening comment, and conclusion.

But I wouldn’t read too much into the substitutions today. Subs don’t normally come on to the luxury of a 5-1 lead. They didn’t need to chase or change the game, all they had to do was stifle an already beaten and demoralised opposition. Avoid any monumental fuck ups, and not lose a 4 goal advantage. Not too much to ask    even for us.

I will never understand what he was trying to do with the Blackburn game that was when i was done with him. 

I was also at Hull and that was one of the worst performances i've seen from a Saints team.

As others said, the warning was there against Wrexham, we were poor and got lucky. However I still cannot believe that was all there was to WIll Still. You dont get a reputation like he did with such absolutely dreadful team selections, subs and tactics. Something wasnt right from the start.

We have a brilliant squad for this league, real fire power, but we had a terrible manager. Very strange how so many of our fans could not see it until it was very late so to speak.

It wasn't thar strange given how poor we were last season. The thinking wasn't that the players were not capable but that last season had messed them up mentally.

They had just been relegated from the Premier League, and I thought it was the right package at that point in my career,” he added. “And when I look back, maybe I had reached a stage where I needed to think about something else, and that's what I'm doing now.” Appointed at the end of May, Still was sacked by Southampton in early November after 16 matches, only 4 wins, and a 21st-place finish out of 24.

Still also mentioned the contacts he had with Sunderland in December 2023 when he was still the manager of Reims. “I never even went to Sunderland.” My wife and I have a house in London, and I did speak with Sunderland's management, but never with the intention of saying, "I'm going to leave Reims right away." It was more like, "I don't want to die ignorant; if there's an opportunity... I didn't want to betray Stade de Reims. There was a great opportunity; can we talk, exchange ideas? Yeah, why not? That's what I did, and I know it was very poorly received."
