Tom Fellows was training at West Brom today so not sure the deal is as advanced as was made out.

The Albion boss remained strong in his line that Fellows was still an Albion player as of Friday morning - and had reported to the Albion training ground.

However, he acknowledged how things can change quickly.

He said: "I can only speak about players in the building that are mine, he is currently one of my along with the other boys.

 

 

"I think what we are speaking about at the moment are potentials. Tom is still our player, he is in the building now.

 

 

 

"In football and in life things can happen and can change, currently my mind isn't thinking about that.

"He's in the building, everyone in the building is available. We have some injuries as well that make players unavailable, but all other players are ready for selection.

"I think the Tom situation along with others is that nothing has been confirmed."

Is he actually there (at WBA's training ground), or is this just people's interpretation of Mason saying 'in the building' which basically means to me TF is still signed to WBA.

He was at the training ground by the sound of it but at no point, perhaps tellingly, did Mason say he had trained this morning as normal.

TBF - it was reported initially that he would have the medical in the next 24 - 48 hours. Perhaps contracts are being sorted etc and until that point he is technically still a WBA player. I'm hoping that is the case anyway, really want this one over the line.

'Still our player until something changes' just means he hasn't actually signed the contract to become a Saints player yet. 

It usually means that there are just a few details still being ironed out between the clubs before it becomes official. It's just a little reminder from the selling club to the buying club that they need to agree to all their terms before it actually goes through. 

Remember when Still said before the Norwich game that Fernandes' absence was absolutely, definitely nothing to do with a transfer? 48h later he was a West Ham player. 

It's all just part of the game. There's nothing to worry about there as far as I can see.

We've just raised £80m in outgoings, that's hardly going to prevent a signing being reported at £7m + £3m at this stage, and who is a direct replacement for one of the players sold.

We still need to shrink the bloated squad though. So although on the face of it Fellows is a direct replacement for Dibling, we would still have too many players on the books.

One of those crosses in that twitter compilation was for Adam Armstrong. May have been able to pass on details of attitude, how he trains etc

I can understand why this one might get tricky. Fellows is an Albion academy graduate. If the rumours are true and WBA have agreed to the deal without personal terms being agreed, what's stopping him from being loyal to the club he's been at for 10+ years? We'd expect (hope) for the same from one of our homegrown players if in the same situation.

My feeling here is that people are on edge and getting whipped up at nothing. Even the Mason comments are quite vague really. Had heard he was travelling down last night, so entirely conceivable he went back up to WBA today and the deal will complete some time in the next few days, given there are games going on and what not
