Remember when they promoted selles from within and it fucked up they said they would never make that mistake again….. well fuck me this promoting from within has taken it to a next level fuckin disaster

It's been the same argument since day one, they don't learn from any mistakes.

They're either arrogant and think they're always right, or they're incompetent. Sadly I think it's both.

Players must be absolutely livid thinking they have worked their tits off to get into the final and had it all taken away, there's no way they will want tonda back in their midst surely? I know there's a chance some of these players knew about it before the media storm

I'm sure the players are angry and I doubt Tonda will be our manager next season, but one of the main reasons they were even in with a shout of the Premier League was Tonda's impact.  These same players had stunk the place out for a third of the season under the previous manager.

And if we'd simply lost to Hull or Middlesbrough our best players would have been looking for a move away, such is the nature of football.

I think we needed to be seen to take swift action, but those at the top do not know how to do this. Gross misconduct sacked with no pay off! It does not matter how well he has done, he needs to be sacked so we can start to regain a little respect as a club. Imagine if he is still on the touchline at the start of the season!

Arrogance and incompetence is a bad combo... but sadly fits very well with all we have seen from SR.

They will continue to to make poor decisions, and I have zero faith in them handling this difficult and crucial period in a good and competent way.

Not at all. We needed to wrap this up with legal obfuscation for months and months until we were already in the prem. The amateurs admitted to it and expected a softer penalty. Sack the lot of them

I've also pondered this on the main 'spygate' thread, but given the FA didn't sanction Bielsa / Leeds, on what basis would they feel justified in being able to deal with Tonda / Saints December differently, given the activities were the same, without being inconsistent? (Leeds more prolific, in fact)

Just the same as the reason Bielsa got Leeds a 200k fine, and we get 4 points and kicked out the play offs. They put in a rule with open ended punishments, and we've broken it.

Harvest season commences for the FA, delighted to see low hanging fruit.

While it could be they're waiting for the FA, internal processes during the investigation may have already brought to light things that made gross negligence for one person more awkward.

Examples:

No training on the procedures and regulations to be followed when taking up the post.

No compliance officer to maintain and implement regs and procedures, including awareness and training.

Clear guidance already known from Spors.

Complicity from other staff members and possibly with knowledge from players.

The club know what he did, which rules he broke and may simply prefer seeing what they can salvage, rather than clearing house.

O r, like so many people, they're just waiting for the police to get round to showing up.🙂

Sounds like we don't even have the minerals to sack him. This club is a complete cluster fuck off epic proportions

Parsons will have been sat in his big office waiting for the nod that Solak has finished a few rounds in Monaco and Ankersen has recovered from his 48 hour colonic before flying in for a chat about crisis management and how to avoid compensating the supporters.  Farcical!

May even go back to 2014 when he was an analyst for German national team:

‘2014 World Cup. Germany and France were almost certain to meet in the quarters. Deschamps spoke publicly about what he thought was attempted spying at their camp during the group stage. Guess who was Germany’s chief opposition analyst?’

Just ban the prick from football, it's now looking more obvious it is his modus operandi.

Rather than come here for a career in football why didn't he just join MI5?

They are saying it was definitely Tonda who sanctioned the spygate

So Saints put a load of lies out after keeping quiet and making it look like its just the intern to fans. Club knew all details and just tried to get away with it. At least 2 other people above Tonda must have agreed this PR and Media nonsense so they need to go. Few other were make decisions to be stupid and look fools when in court.  Unfortunately the Chavs in Soton know far more about avoiding the law and just getting away with it than Saints. Southampton FC really are complete idiots and liars,  its all out there for every football fan to read. Didn't anyone in coaching team think to stop this at first instance ?

Love this! To me it just shows how thorough and conscientious he is and his desire to win! He lives and breaths it. Just strengthens the argument that it is an accepted practice in the sport. It's not cheating, it's doing your revision before an exam! It's only seen as 'cheating' in the EFL as they half-heartedly imposed the dumb rule after the Leeds fiasco.....which nobody really gave a fuck about anyway!

I know I'm in the minority but I'd like Tonda to stay if the FA don't fuck him over. We need someone with that streak and desire to win. Fuck all these woke cunts and yes men.

Southampton fc are playing spygate like its football Traitors, we will do anything to win the Premier League prize including deceiving and lying to it's own fans and failing to murder EFL or other threats.

We get a manager who can galvanise us into a genuinely excellent to watch, enjoyable side with form to match those who won the league.

He is also a cheating tw@t.

I feel conflicted. But, ultimately, he has caused more harm to us long term then anything we could have gained short term.

Just go Tonda.

The worst thing, he probably didn't need to be the big cheating bastard he was. He is a talented man.

'They' being the EFL. I was talking about the FA... A completely separate body to the EFL, with their own rulebook. The fact that the EFL have a new rule for this misdemeanor shouldn't be a consideration for the FA. They should be looking at it through the same prism they did for Bielsa / Leeds.

Edit: anyway, looks like we'll probably sack him before the FA get their pound of flesh, so a moot discussion anyway... Plus I've had far too many beers this evening... Hic :)

These past examples were not cheating, they are just more evidence that this is normal outside of the league we happen to be be in.

It's not "spying", it's "scouting", and it really isn't that big a deal.  Personally I think they should just scrap the rule  and clubs will self police by securing their training ground  like we have  like any prem club has, like any European club has, if they don't want people scouting their training...

Christ.

They/we do not need police and security, we have EFL governance, which as we have seen actually works

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Board are dithering and waiting for the FA to ban him before taking action. That would be soooo Sport Republic.

I would imagine it would be why we are waiting so we can dismiss him for gross misconduct or similar and then don’t have to pay him off (only reason I can potentially think of as to why he didn’t go immediately after the hearing(s)!?)

Probably something in this, but he should at least have been immediately placed on gardening leave, pending the outcome of the FA investigation. The fact we have someone at the club who has been publicly outed as having bullied junior staff members into breaking rules, and haven't yet taken any kind of action whatsoever to address that, would suggest that the senior management are asleep at the wheel.

I would say there is already enough evidence to sack him for gross misconduct now. If we are waiting for the FA's permission to sack him then SR are more pathetic than I thought they were.

Updated song for next season:

we never won a cup

he fu**ed us going up

we had Tonda Eckert

Will be interesting to see what we have left come the end of June. Next season is going to be tough, but we need to make it work and need to go up or we will just be another of those championship clubs that drift around. I have zero confidence in the lot in charge at the moment getting anything right to be honest.

My neighbour's son is an intern with a Premier League team and he was telling me he is treated like shit by the club, so let's not pretend we are the only ones who "abuse" youngsters who are desperate to get into the game.

I think it's way too easy to just sack TE and think that it is all sorted. What was happening must have been known higher up the food chain which is why I think there hasn't been any swift executions. There is no doubt TE is a very good manager, albeit a ruthless one, and we have got to be careful we don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I know there will be outraged howls from the media and other clubs if he stays and the hate will continue for a long time, but we've been appropriately punished so the rest of football can do one as far as I am concerned.

Why do we need to wait for the FA? The report is more than sufficient to sack him for gross misconduct.

As anyone who has ever worked in management will know, you can't just give someone their marching orders on the spot. The usual process would be to suspend them, pending a disciplinary hearing where they have a right to be accompanied (by a union rep, for example).

Having said that, wasn't he only on a short term contract until the end of this season anyway?

Interns get treated abominably in many industries. Including the legal profession that puts incredible pressure on their interns to work crazy hours.
