Not sure why probably our best 2 CB's must leave but the other two get to stay.

Or why armstrong must leave but Archer can stay.

I think Trump must have hacked him and posted his usual rubbish

I was talking about players that actually play. Of course Archer, Aribo, Fraser etc should leave but I thought that didn't really need saying.

Would you be saying the same when if it was us?

Of course I wouldn’t. Are you seriously comparing a tiny shithole like Wrexham with Southampton? I know our club has shit owners and so are the council, but it’s one of the fastest going cities in the country with lots to tap into. The waterfront development alone is a reason to own the club which sports republic have been exploring. There is absolutely no return in owning a small potatoes club like Wrexham. It’s the type of club that should be owned by the local businessmen that hovers around league 2/non league. What’s happening with them is the most egregious example  of financial abuse in football. At least with city etc you can get it to a stage where it can sustain itself. Thats never going to happen with Wrexham. Hate them with a passion and it doesn’t get enough bad publicity.

How about someone like Taiwo Awoniyi on loan? Not getting many minutes at Forest. Probs wouldn’t drop down. Reports suggest Piroe won’t either.

Not many names that come to mind that are realistic.

Forget the economics of owning Wrexham compared to Saints as you’re right. I don’t live far from Wrexham and it is an area of deep poverty with few jobs and little going for it. The football club and what they have done has breathed new life into the city. It is what football is about or should I say used to be and should be about. It’s generated money, jobs, hope and above all a feel good factor. I’d take that in a heartbeat and whilst I don’t want them to better us I wish them well for what it’s giving.

You don't think small clubs should ever be allowed to rise through the leagues on the back of a rich owner?

Sadly, very few PL players seem to drop down a laegue these days unless absolutely necessary, and foreign PL players are far more likely to join a top flight side in another lessor European league than a championship team.

Awoniyi is a decent shout, but his injury record isn't great. Piroe isn't a target man. Did he snub us for Leeds back in the day (I'm not sure) - as that would impact our interest.

It was down to money, Leeds were able to offer a lot more at the time.

We certainly had to balance the books that summer, and only spent money on Charles and Stewart. I am not sure Piroe is the guy we need. He can finish, but can he lead the attack on his own?

Yeah, despite being a big lad, he's not really a physical player, or one that often gets on the end of crosses either.  To be fair to him he's pretty good at linking play and, as you say, he can finish but I think a lot of fans would get frustrated with him.  Not surprising but more suited to a possession game than anything else.

Only go for the best, eh?.

I recall an interview with the Koeman brothers shortly after they started with Saints.

When asked the question.. If you could have any player in the world who would you choose?

after a short pause.... they smiled at each other .....and simultaneously said ...Messi.

I think we should sign Bastardo Afonso Morrireo from Lyon.

All I know about him is that he is no 17, so probably a forward. But who cares , with that name .

Ps only noticed him because Matland Niles scored for Lyon in the Europa League

Fraser gone to a Land Down Under.

Happy to keep trimming the squad but would still like a striker. Please.

I noticed Sheffield Utd had

CANNON

ArBLASTER

HAMER

BAMford

But we did win, despite their threatening names.

One of the more perplexing moves was signing him after promotion. Bizarre at the time and in hindsight.

I don’t think it’s bizarre in hindsight, I felt that way at the time, his premier league days were well behind him.

If so, may I recommend Belgian left back Sam Bunch?

Sounds like a good age to bring him back in to bring some experience to the dressing room. He can join the U21 to 1st team coach pathway behind Lallana and Romeu. Get it done, Rasmus.

...many players score at least once a season, so perhaps that was his this time around.

A sad thing to relate is that Paul Onuachu (having scored 11 goals - so far) in Turkey, puts his

success down to the fact that ..." they are playing in a formation that suits him".  ( i.e. wingers.)

Having sold him, we then signed TWO wingers, and have played half a season, still lacking a big CF.

Hopefully Ross Stewart can maintain fitness, and our wingers will finally have someone to aim at.

SR are only 4 years in. It will take time for them to realise having a manager's system, and a first team to play it at the same time, is a good thing. 🙂

Burnley in for THB.

I thought THB looked a bit more shouty at the back in this transfer window, and a little keener. I, of course, put it down to him working hard to turn us round, and developing.

Seeing as Fraser has left, i had a quick look at current player contracts using Capology... very evident we still need to shift some pretty obvious names off this list:

Aribo - £4.2M per year - exp summer 26

Macca - £2.6M per year - exp summer 26

Fraser - £2.6M per year - exp summer 26 (now gone)

Archer - £2.6M per year - exp summer 28

To name but a few. I'm also shocked by THB's wage - the green tick means its "verified" apparently. Charles also seems to be criminally undervalued. Need to offer him a nice pay rise and get him signed up long term.

Romeu sadly also seems to be a bit of a luxury on the wages front. Stephens on £2.6m per year till 2028 just doesn't make sense to me at all, Edozie is another £1M per year that we aren't seeing anything for...

He's been shown the door plenty of times, but just refused to walk through it. He knows he's not gonna get paid anything like what he's on here elsewhere, unless he goes to Saudi which I gather he was trying to arrange in the summer.

Just another in a very long list of terrible recruitment decisions over recent years. He was a useful squad player in our promotion season, but has been utterly horrendous the rest of his time here, never once showing the slightest sign of value for the wages we're paying him.

Can't believe those wages figures, if true he needs to look after himself and either get a new contract or push for a sale. I'm sure Roy Keane will be advising him. He is our best CB by a long long way and needs a decent salary.

Football salaries are always a shock to us mere mortals, but these figures are over a very short period of time. By their mid 30s most footballers will have finished their contracts. A few get managerial or media jobs but only a few. What they earn during their playing days has io last a long time.

Don't get me wrong, they are amazing figures and when someone like Aribo takes the piss it's really annoying, but they are the stars of the show, they bring in the punters, and generate shirt sales and income. Obviously for us at the moment we resent every penny but during more normal times its less of an issue.

TBF, it'll be a move back home to Manchester for him and his family.

I've heard this argument made many times over the years and it always irks me.

What's to stop them getting a 'proper' job once their playing days are over?

These are utter guesswork.

There's no way Aribo is on £70k in the Champ. Maybe in the Prem but not after the relegation clause.

THB on £7.5k a week? A £20m player gets paid significantly more than that even after a relegation clause.

Charles would have been on more than £10k a week at City before we signed him.

Why would Edwards have been on double the amount Wood? Similar fees, U21 apps etc.

Many more examples in there...

No one will match the wages based on what he has done the last few seasons I expect..
