Two quite experienced managers this week talking about how good Saints Xg stats are and they both boast an inferior points per game record than TE this season. So plenty of availability out there.

Since Tonda said yes, and Carrick's reply was filled with expletives, it was clearly a wise SR decision.

Doesn’t say he wanted the job, just that the club spoke with him. Described as an interview but it might have been a sounding out on both sides. As Holmes & Watson refers to, club might have set out the parameters they wanted a ‘head coach’ (not manager) to work in, and he said ‘not for me’.

A concern before the Rasmuses and DoFs of the world is that they might appoint someone who knows more than they do.

This was mentioned in the Sky commentary today, but first time it’s been referenced to my knowledge.  Perhaps the commentators was speculating…

It’s a mystery why we never offered the job to Carrick.

I know Ankerson raved about Carrick at a golf function when Nathan Jones was our manager. I expect he’s no longer trusted after appointing the mad one.

As for Tonda, not beating the skates with their 4 best players out and playing a system of pumping the ball long everytime does not sit with me.

Because Wellington was the only decent left sided player but had to stay back most of the time which meant we starved Leo from getting any service.

The only decent player we have left at the club and the poor bloke was double marked because no one else was there to support him.

I am slightly more positive we just need to get in better players who can regularly score goals which does not seem to be as easy as some on here think

I think they first considered / approached Carrick when they sacked Selles. Since then the club appear to have gone the full Ankerson!
