Azaz didn't play on the left v Bristol.

He did until the subs of Scienza and Fellows in the 57th minute. For those first 57 mins Larin and Archer were central striker pairing, Matsuki right and Azaz on the left.

Then when Fellows and Scienza came on we switched to 4231 and Azaz moved to a number 10 role.

Apologise on behalf of any posts or registered members you've viewed from our own forums TWTD etc where they believe we'll finish the job later tonight and Southampton may as well award us the victory now.   Shows a lack of respect but some are just over zealous, others are misguided.     I can see the picture for what it is in that it's a tough trip and ask to another club side with hopes of automatic promotion themselves.    If we were to lose then I'll expect it, not pinning everything on one penultimate game and collecting the prize before it's due. That's indeed if we even make it.

We've been aided by some dubious referee decisions in recent weeks that some of our fanbase won't readily admit to but I don't make the decisions or dictate who does what.    I really hope none of that occurs later tonight particularly in our favour as just want a clean fair game with the best team getting the right result through hard work and commitment.

Either McKenna and the players really go for it and make it with the QPR game to spare or we play ineffective as we can or have and pin hopes on the final weekend that will put intense pressure on the players.    Going swimming in an hour or two the whole time game is underway as maybe it's better to focus on something other than the match itself.    When it's over and done with we can then pick out the relevant talking points of what occurred.     Yes I'm nervous but suppose we were to get promoted by end of season, 1 or 2 players aside we're not top level standard and weaker than the last promotion 2 years ago.     May the best team prevail from this for the right reasons and wish could be there.   Should be some atmosphere.

Saints win tonight to top a great run but not quite enough for automatic. Bristol game was the game I feel. Ipswich and millwall fight for last auto and we go up through playoffs

You're on top form today. You've out MLG-ed yourself! 😀

I'm thinking both teams are going to be tired, there's probably going to be a few mistakes by both sides. I think if there's an early goal, it'll go daft like a 5-3 scoreline. If there's no early goal, it'll be 0-0 or 1-0. That's my guess. Looking forward to it though

Is it? I seem to remember Azaz being wider than Archer for large parts of that first half.

Matsuki is a big loss imho, hope it's nothing serious

We've seen some really good stepping up from players when others have been away. Time for Fellows to have a great game.

Good team

Surprised all 3 of Azaz, Fellows and Leo are starting thought 2 or 3 of them might be subs given Saturdays efforts. Good team though going for the win which is good to see. Win tonight and it keeps Saturday interesting. No pressure on us really it’s all on Ipswich to keep themselves in the driving seat or maybe even secure promotion

I hope this isn't the start of the dream ending, and the slippery slope. Knowing how saints do things: and the memories of shit football and managers for years and years. I don't bet, but, bad bad feeling tonight.

please no.

Thought Wellington would have started after his strong performance last Saturday.

COYR and hope the atmosphere is similar to the city game. The fans were amazing!

No, no, no.

Watch the game again and you'll see Azaz for the first hour was on the left in a 4222/442. The BBC also corrected themselves after having it wrong and have it like that on the match report. They originally had Azaz central but anyone watching could see that wasn't the case.

Personally I think 2nd boils down to this:

Saints win tonight, Millwall finish 2nd.

Draw or Ipswich win and they finish 2nd.

Of course that's simplifying it and there are lots of permutations including a win for us still giving us a slim chance but in essence I think those results are what seals what. So Millwall fans will be Saints fans tonight.

Strong line up though, interesting to see how much we have left in the tank after Saturday.

I think regardless of result tonight, Ipswich home to “on the beach” QPR will be an easy home win. For me Ipswich will finish second due to their superior goal difference over Millwall.

Ah I hadn't spotted the GD being so superior. Maybe we win 20 nil then to even it out. 😝

Not sure. Bristol City were an on the beach team. It seems like they become more dangerous

April has seen exceptionally dry weather and the soil moisture deficit is high, making the ground rock hard. The use of the sprinklers will be to reduce the likelihood of injury as a result of that.
