No Downes, eh? Perhaps the plan is to go at Boro (as they did up there), get a lead (like they should have done), and be ready to play it tighter in the second half. Downes can get excessively fired-up for games like this, and an early yellow could be very damaging.

Given that he didn't even make the bench on Saturday, it's probably a good decision not to start him tonight. Hopefully we'll be in a position later where we can bring him on to shore things up and protect a lead.

Replacing Downes with Charles is ok, and with Matsuki adding some extra bite in midfield, he'll have freedom to roam forward. 

Our bench is ridiculous, Tonda clearly looking at a long hard game.

No way should we underestimate Boro, although don't think anyone is. They won't go down without a fight.

Let's hope Saints can control the game and keep them pegged back.
