I cant see any Saints players wanting to continue with Tonda. He has fucked up Saints as a ckub and the chance of players gettinv promoted v Hull which we had a good chance of winning.

Why would players want Tonda to continue?

Because they remember how crap working for Will Still and Ivan Juric was?

They actually did enjoy playing for Tonda and his approach to training and any new manager will always be a risk of a step back to that period

He’ll get a good job in Europe. Let’s remember what he’s got in trouble for is only a crime in the championship. I suspect a lot of European clubs are looking at us now thinking how ridiculous it is

Why would players want Tonda to continue?

Because they really respect his ability as a coach, which is what matters for their careers moving forward. Peretz has already come out with a positive message about him.

We have admitted to doing it a handful of times. What my cousins husband tells me is that we were well known for being prolific at it.

Does that make the other clubs complicit for not reporting all these  'crimes' to the EFL in the first place...? ;)

A lot of the players have come out in their respect for him over the months.

Now this has happened things can quickly change.

Do the same players still respect him given he’s taken an opportunity from them, some won’t get that chance again in their careers?

Id be fascinated to know the club stance on this, the silence is pretty deafening, and as much as I would like to see him gone on the back of all this - if him staying was the difference between 95% of the first team staying - then I need to have a think.

But the coercion of analysts and some not feeling comfortable enough to speak up doesn’t sit right with me.
At that point as a business you’re basically saying “he’s done, he did nothing wrong, we don’t care about how little he made people feel”.

Yeah, but is it as insane as your mental hokey-cokey when changing your mind about the outcome every hour before the hearings....? ;)

Wait until the FA ban him, they’ll be all out in force again. Bielsa wasn’t banned, we didn’t gain an advantage, a bloke on the FA meet “Gibbo” once, there’s an agenda against Saints, everyone does it daily and twice on a Thursday,  and the DFB wouldn’t have banned him in Germany.

Nurse! Lord D's been looking through my draft posts folder again! 🥳

Still await his response after reading the article by Sir Nicholas Mostyn KC although I reckon that might have stumped him if he's honest. Pretty hard for him to argue his points against such a well qualified individual.

Cheating is bad. (Yes there are different levels of cheating)

We cheated.

Tonda apparently orchestrated the cheating.

Tonda also was extremely effective as manager and led us to 21 league games unbeaten and a FA Cup Semi Final.

The FA are investigating and may make a ruling on whether Tonda gets a ban. If he gets a ban, we will sack him - almost certainly for Gross misconduct, meaning a reduced or no pay-out.

If he isn't banned, the club will need to understand the position of the players and whether he still has their confidence and trust. If not, we will sack him.

Personally, I think he will need the vast majority of the players to actively want him to stay for us to keep him.

There is a quite a bit of me that thinks we should keep him, get the supporters, players and whole club to develop a siege mentality and use that to go hard at the league next season. The question is whether we as supporters (and club more generally) can be bothered with all the additional attention and 'banter' from outside?

Sports Republic have another option, sack Tonda, employ a high profile, experienced manager and give him a war chest - don't sell players (unless we get massive bids) and go out and buy Peretz, Larin etc. Explicitly state that we are aiming to win the league.

No doubt it will be a total mess, drag on far too long and come August we will be a mess once again.

You’re talking way too much sense to be allowed to post on this forum. But agree completely.

it’s like harping on that this is not illegal in Germany.

You know what. As time has gone on I do feel my position shifting more towards us keeping him.

I feel like there can't be NO repercussions from what has happened internally given what we missed out on, but I do find myself agreeing that he should be in charge next season.

As is AlexLaw76. Where the two differ is that Sir Nicholas Mostyn KC is a retired High Court Judge. We can all choose which of the two we think has a more educated view in terms of the whole spygate affair. Unless of course Alex is hiding his light under a bushel and is an ex attorney general.

Whose fault is it that we’re starting on minus 4?

I personally don’t give a flying fuck now, it’s done/history. I want the best chance for promotion, Tonda without doubt is that, regardless of who’s to blame, if the players and board can accept his incumbency.

If you look at his track record, Tonda is obviously the bookies’ favourite...

But there have been some things he’s been behind that aren’t exactly glorious, and that could seriously tip the balance...

Ultimately, it’s very difficult to say whether Tonda can stay or whether he’ll leave...

Give him a second chance or sack him for gross misconduct – that is the question...

Fuck the FA we have had our punishment and Tonda is ours and the fa can go do one if they think they can dictate who we can or can't have as a manager. Sort the shit out in the Premier League first before they dare start snipping at us. Europe is laughing at this ridiculous situation and will happily take a gifted manager off our hands.

I’d personally really appreciate some communication from the owner at this point. I understand they may be waiting for any sanctions or official outcomes, but from the outside it can feel more like buying time than showing leadership.

What’s needed now is for the owner to come forward, make it clear that everyone involved is being held accountable, and reassure supporters that strong action is being taken internally. Just as importantly, there needs to be a clear explanation of how the club plans to move forward and rebuild trust with the community, fans, players, and partners.

Open communication alone would help calm much of the ongoing noise surrounding the club. Right now, the silence is only increasing pressure and speculation, whereas showing leadership and transparency would allow people to start looking ahead instead of continuing to focus on the uncertainty.

To me, there's probably two reasons for their current radio silence.... Either there's much more shit to hit the fan or they're about to pull some kind of unexpected good news rabbit out of the hat... Actually, given this is Sport Republic, its more likely to be a rabbit caught in headlights rather than in a hat!

Why would players want Tonda to continue?

If, at last week's player / management/ ownership summit,  the players had a near unanimously 'vote of no confidence' in Tonda then surely Sport Republic would have axed him there and then...? No point waiting for the FA enquiry to conclude in that scenario, surely?

Perhaps managers of the "big boys" don't do stupid things. Or perhaps those clubs are better structured so that the rules which are necessary to observe are known to all. Or perhaps they just don't get caught because they don't use juvénile idiots.

I thought there would’ve been the odd leak by now, but it’s very closed off.

I remember the Nicola Cortese days were “give the media not a whiff of anything” which I admire, but that felt prefessional.

This feels more “what do we do now, fellas?” 🤣

But I am amazed that’s not been a single rumour.

Alex, you have been on this forum long enough to know that as soon as you site tenuous links between various family members, family member’s friends and/or tradespeople, your post loses all credibility.

What's the good news? They've cracked the flux capacitor and Dragan is off in his Delorean to burst all the tyres on William Salts vehicle before he sets off to Middlesbrough? Other than that there isn't really any good news that could resolve this.

Literally the 1st post in response, and you emphasise his point.

There was no "biased jury", or "dodgy review process". We pleaded guilty.

They had to give us a sporting sanction, yet there we were asking for a fine. That's after lying through our back teeth. No humility, no genuine remorse, no reality. It'd be like drink driving, initially trying to blame your mate, then putting your hands up, but asking to keep our licence.

Boro went through because we tried to get a sporting advantage against them.

As qwrrtyyell says, this is not complicated.

So you’re equating a drink driving offence (a serious legal matter rather than a regulatory one) with a nipper on a field trip to obtain a bit of intel on an opponent and in relation to all the other shithousery that goes on in pro-football? Fuck me there’s some extremely weird thinking going on here.

Oh and in case you didn’t notice, we beat Boro in the semi’s - on player merit, not because some kid intern had a mobile phone out at a training ground on public ground FFS. And let’s also remember that Boro originally said Salt had professional recording equipment - was that just a convenient lie? Nothing is going to convince me that Boro didn’t incite the whole shoddy affair and the most culpable person to let the side down was Parsons…someone who really should have known better.

I suspect we are waiting for the FA inquiry results to establish whether we need to/can sack him without paying compensation. Of course, this strategy is risky because some of the good managers who are out there and could do a job for us will get snapped up. If our fall back position is Adam Lallana we may as well all give up now.

The other scenario (at least in my heat-addled brain) is that Tonda does a very good and total apology publically and to the players and we are holier than thou from now on. Not sure we or he have/has it in him though, and his camera style is not exactly engaging.

So suspect we will be delaying again for a bit (or perhaps sounding out some people in the background). Please not Lallana though. Please.

Loads of hypothetical here but if the FA doesn't ban him and if the players have accepted a proper apology and want to go again next year then we'd be in a good position to get promoted. I still can't really see it working myself but if he got over the awkwardness at the beginning and went on a run of wins again it would be forgotten about quite quickly.

Gonna say this slowly as it doesn’t seem to be sinking in with the “don’t sack Tonda” brigade…….

WHAT………..IF……..HE…….IS……BANNED……FOR……MONTHS…….?

Still think this will be taken out of our hands.  It won’t just be a touch line ban.
