Yeah if anything it’d have been Watford at home as they’d have taken ball number 23. 
 

Was hoping for Orient away personally but never mind. Chance for some of the wider squad to get a run out at home.

Aren’t cup draws done on the order of the previous round match draw or is that just fa cup?

Think it might be in later rounds. Doesn't work when new teams are still entering though and they'll have to merge the north/south for the third round.

Properly shit draw, the league cup is one of the few opportunities we have to get new away grounds and nothing is more boring than drawing a club we've played a million times before - and are in the same division - at home

The confidence that came from that cup run bled through into our league performances, and our ability to rotate regularly without dropping massively in quality meant it didn't cause unwanted fatigue. 

This idea that we shouldn't take the cups seriously and just concentrate on the league is utter nonsense.

I agree and thats been my position for a long time, I do hate the fixed Carabao format though. 

I think this will be like the Leicester Cup game last season though, both sides playing reserves / u21s. West Ham have squad depth so tough game. 

Hope club make it £10 adults. £1 kids, going to be a tough sell even in school holidays with three home games in a week , saints will probably offer West Ham extra tickets if they think they can bring more than the standard 3k

Yeah its certainly designed to get as many big teams into the last 8 as possible, ensuring higher viewing figures = sell the rights for more.

It's actually £12.50 for non members too. We should use matches like this to try and entice future fans and a parent with multiple kids may be put off.

Surely it's better to have cheap prices, get more in the ground spending money and try and get kids hooked. 

Will be interesting to see how many we give West Ham. If only the standard 3k then I doubt we'll get 20k attendance.

That is horrendous pricing for a League Cup 2nd round. Hope the ground is empty to send a message.

Expect the league game against them to be £40+ for adults. Probably category A+ like the Pompey game.

Interestingly (stupidly) they're already accepted the pricing is stupid, and are closing the Kingsland stand...

I never get it for these types of games, we never seem to make it cheap enough, there must be some logic in it. i.e. able to charge away fans more.

But the difference is they've got to sell tickets to all STH, as well as just the 7/8k matchdays that normally buy tickets. 
most of our group of 7 aren't going, but would have gone if it was £15. Just seems completely stupid from the outside in.

25,000 x £15 = £375k - I'd definitely prefer this....

For me though maximising profit is the wrong way to look at these games. The focus should be getting as many youngsters into the ground as possible as that's the potential future season ticket holders.

Completely agree, we just never seem to get it right, which suggests that maybe they can commit to reduced costs (less stewards, police if needed, bar staff etc)

And agree, great opportunity for parents to take their kids to first game, good opponent, full away end, both full sides out. @Saint Garrett I agree that the sales of drinks/food with the margins there and what would be taken in the club shop would easily exceed the £12 ticket reduction.

West Ham charged £1 and a maximum £10 for adults for their game v Pompey. We'd have had a capacity crowd with those prices and the Club would have made a lot more money from sales of food , drink and merchandise sold in and around the ground

Closing the Kingsland will also put off several thousand fans, who don't want to be behind the goal, from attending so that's going to lose the Club even more money.

It is stupid and embarrassing.

Presumably the club will say they're closing the Kingsland because there will only be a small crowd. I'd say closing the Kingsland is why there will be a small crowd. Chicken and egg.

They just don't it, do they?  For season ticket holders, part of the pleasure of going to games is sitting with people around you that you know and talk to. And the Kingsland must surely have more ST holders than any other stand.
