Tac-tics Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 As we all know, rumours have been rife regarding John Rooney, Wayne's brother. We'll RUMOUR and I have been asked to note it is a whisper after he felt a tad embarressed 'Sodje and Bryson tip off' even though he was spot on with Jaidi and Connolly, Saints will/have approached Macclesfield. Wont really know much as I'm on holiday with the FA and back working down here. STRONG RUMOUR , NOT FACT..... HTH

Saints foreva Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Hope this is wrong, the views from League Two fans state that hes done nothing apart from score a cracking goal. If his name wasn't Rooney we wouldn't even look at him imo.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 From what I've seen/heard he appears to be a raw talent, who certainly has promise. Hopefully, if this rumour is true, Mr Pardew can combine the fitness and diet regime he's given to Lambert with the good handling of younger players like Lallana and Morgan, and mould us a nice diamond from the rough, so to speak. If his name wasn't Rooney we wouldn't even look at him imo. Mmm, my initial thoughts entirely. But I guess unless you're the person able to watch him in detail, then perhaps we do not know enough to make a reasoned judgement. He might well shine significantly here. Trouble is, if he was anywhere near as good as some are making out, why is he not playing in a higher league???
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 If his name wasn't Rooney we wouldn't even look at him imo. If that is the case, we won't sign him, simple as that. If we do end up signing him, he will have been watched several times and properly scouted and in the opinion of AP and the management, adds something to the team, or strengthens the squad. I think you're getting this regime mixed up with the old one.

Suhari Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Southampton is a long way from Macclesfield. When we signed Pahars and Delgado we brought in a 'friend' to help the main signing feel at home (Bleddelis and Chala). Clearly we would do the same for Rooney. So, has he got a relative that plays football, and might make in into our first team squad......?

Hopkins Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 I'm pretty sure he's an attacking centre midfielder. So all the people claiming he's only scored 2 goals and hoping were after another striker aswell as him are wrong in the assumption that he is a striker. Hopkins Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Infact, scrap bits of my previous post. He's an agressive little all action midfielder according to someone who knows that league quite well. Good little creative passer aswell. And reading something about him on BBC it says he reads the game well. He certainly is not a striker.
Tac-tics Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Should be good with Sodje Yeah, erm that's Charlton, tosser. I think if you look back at the post it says Sodje was being looked at if Jaidi did'nt happen, which Sodje even has came out and said in a Charlton programme. Bryson was wrong, something you fail to do every time is read the previous posts, you may just understand little'un.

S-Clarke Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 ''I've watched John Rooney for the last 18 months or so and he is quite clearly a major talent, with a fantastic attitude. On the pitch he is very industrious and lifts his team mates around him. His shots from 20-30 yards out are as good an asset as his footballing brain and passing ability. I would like to believe he will help keep Macc up this season, but realistically I have to admit we are more likely to use his transfer fee to buy new talent.''
