Thank goodness MLT hasn't sunk this low!!

He is getting there, and so is Rickie Lambert sadly. Probably my 2 favourite Saints and now I struggle to even read their social posts. Perhaps Joey Barton will help them see the light and put them on the right path.

Absolute tosspiece. I know someone (admittedly only knew them via Facebook and a forum like this but still) who was one of the 22 killed in that horrific instance.

It absolutely happened...Not that I think anyone on here needs convincing.

These sorts are just mental, there's having an opinion and a view - but this is just sick and twisted and causing hurt to those who were impacted by it. Why he wants to prove something like that was a cover up is beyond me - he can believe it if he wants in his own head, but what does anyone gain from him dragging everyone through his deranged episode?

Attention. Simple as that.

A couple of years ago he was insinuating that teenage girls raped and murdered by alcoholic thugs in Bucha were all part of some 'fake news' media narrative, so he's basically there already. He did issue a wafer thin apology but it basically amounted to being sorry for himself that it didn't get the, "oooh controversial, Matt likes to think  outside the box and stand up to the mainstream media," reaction he was hoping for.

I think that he actually admitted he had been clumsy but was actually highlighting that we should be wary about believing everything we are being told about the war. I thought it was a pretty tactless example but agreed with what he was trying to say - we were receiving a lot of propaganda spin at the time that suited Ukraine and her allies and I just wanted to be able to trust the news output I was hearing and watching was impartial. That was not always the case in the early days of the Ukraine war.

If I watch a documentary on astrophysics, featuring Patrick Moore, Brian Cox and Stephen Hawking, I don’t need to go and read a blog on Facebook by Janice the flat Earther in order to form a balanced opinion. I don’t know where this idea comes from that opposing opinions are somehow equal but they aren’t. Tiss’s are almost entirely horse sh*t.

You see now, this is why you get so much hassle. You are a total idiot. referring to someone as a character, just because they have a different opinion to you and because I ask you questions you CANNOT answer. You are by far the worst poster on this site. By far.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the Early Doors show with MLT at the weekend (with guest Martin Tyler, who was absolutely brilliant).

I was fascinated to learnt the following...

  • There have only ever been two Premier League hat tricks scored by players who ended up on the losing team, and he is responsible for two of them (Oldham away and Nottingham Forest at home);
  • His hat trick against Nottingham Forest was the first one in Premier League history to be comprised only of set pieces;
  • He also won all three of the set pieces that he scored from; and
  • That hat trick (in 1995) was the last one scored by a Southampton player at The Dell.

Now trying to think how many hat tricks have been scored by Saints players at St Mary's.

Lambert (multiple)

Beattie (4-2 v Fulham)

Mane (6-1 v Villa)

John  (against Hull I think, can't recall score)

Feel there was another one around a similar time to John but can't remember who.

Still have my Mane mug with this time written on it.

What a day that was!

A great “I was there” moment to be at - and a little fitness work out too: no sooner had you sat down he had up on your feet again - then again.

What a day indeed!

Think he was talking about just Prem hat-tricks, I think all have been covered in this thread now.

Hat tricks in recent years outside of the Prem I can think of that haven't been mentioned:

Saganowski away at Wolves

Elyounoussi away at Newport in league cup.

Also its mental that Lambert scored 4 hattricks in a season for us in the Championship.

He was great on the show I linked up, exactly the MLT you want to see.

The Supermané one? Still regret not picking one of those mugs up!

One of my favourite memories of being at St Mary’s! Remember thinking that it might be the record when the third one went in, and of course it actually was!

Brett Ormerod v Tranmere (6-1 in League Cup, revenge for the 4-3) 2002

James Beattie v Fulham (4-2 Prem) 2002

Dexter Blackstock v Colchester (3-2 League Cup) 2004. I remember there was a young kid sitting behind me at this game, and his parents were trying to convince him not to support Chelsea. I'm going to have a stab and say they weren't successful...

Andrew Surman v Barnsley (5-2 Championship) 2007

Stern John v Hull (4-0 Championship) 2007

Rickie Lambert v Forest (3-2 Championship) 2011

Rickie Lambert v Brighton (3-0 Championship) 2011 - helped by some dodgy refereeing and a Brighton headloss

Sadio Mane v Aston Villa (6-1 Prem) 2015

Sadio Mane v Man City (4-2 Prem) 2016

And we haven't seen a Saints hat-trick at home since...

There have also been 7 opposition hat-tricks at St Mary's...

That's it! Mothballed it when he went to Liverpool, but happy to use it again now that he's basically retired. 😅

Im pretty sure in 1984 when we beat Coventry 8-2 Danny Wallace and Steve Moran both got hatricks. Any other team done that?

@Fitzhugh Fella might be able to keep me honest here

Pires and Pennant both got hat tricks in the same game, a 6-1 drubbing of….us.

I was listening to Jermaine Pennant on undr the cosh the other week and he said he had gone out the night before that game and was heavily hungover, so much so that he planned to fake an injury 10 minutes into the game. 😂

Mane also got one against Man City the season after his one vs Villa

That must have been the 15 min one ! Was that when Mane only put any effort when Saints were playing a potential suitor for Mane ?
