So Brentford are playing today (Wednesday). They're going to be knackered against the Juric high press. 

Never bet against my interests - so lost a few bob this season - but time for clawback. 2-1 Saints with Tall Paul scoring his first Saints goal.

Anyway, even with Brentford playing today they’ll still be fit and fresh enough to get their first away win of the season against us.

Usually, with Juric's tactics, you'd want to play a pressing side. Knock the ball past/over the press and utilize the space behind or win the second balls.

Going by the second half on Sunday, it's going to take a while longer to get Russball out of the players systems.

No, there is zero chance.

We need around 60% of available points to get to 40 points. It's really not worth stressing about or thinking about. We've been done and dusted for many weeks.

The initial target is to get past having the lowest PL points and then bring a bit of pride back into the club before the inevitable drop. Uncomfortable getting there but the Championship ain’t that bad (for too long).

We’ve sidestepped the ‘new manager bounce’ with results but, look at Leicester, it often follows with a bump. Juric had little more than a day on the training ground before his first couple of games, this time he’s had a week. Fingers crossed.

A week off for the players probably meant a week off with Lucy and so I'd have gone for a fortnight off

Saints have a habit in recent seasons of having prolonged bad spells followed by prolonged good spells so I'm hoping we will now see an improvement. Of course it wouldn't take much to be better and it's  got to the stage where any win we get is a shock win. Still it would be nice to take a few unexpected scalps even if staying up is beyond us.

Looking at the numbers....

4th to bottom are Wolves who are on track for 32 points. To get 32 points we'd need 26 points over 19 games. That's the form of a 52 point season which is currently between Spurs and Brighton.

Not quite impossible but not far off. We are now in 'minor miracle' territory.

TBH I'm just hoping we can rediscover our mojo and end with some degree of respectability, hopefully somewhere between 20-25 points.

As for Saturday...if the players leave it all on the pitch then who knows, a draw or even nick all 3? I just want to see some real heart.

Have not seen anything yet to change my mind that we’re not only headed for relegation, but we’ll not win or draw enough games to beat Derby’s record. Yes, IR has helped but I reckon that’s more about what the team are NOT doing (dicking about at the back), rather than what has changed to improve performances and specifically how to score goals. Brentford are (shockingly) an all round better club and have a better, more effective squad of players, marshalled by a good manager.

We've been on the receiving end of some diabolical decisions this season, we've clearly not been leaving the correct envelope in the officials changing room pre-match 

I think we'll struggle against Brentford but if Downes and Fernandes are missing I think it'll be too much of a gap. Is Smallbone expected back?

That will be tongue in cheek surely or a Johnny come lately, I know a few Brentford and they'd acknowledge even their local rivals don't see them as a cup final, Chelsea, Fulham, QPR all traditionally bigger clubs / fanbases, I'd put Brentford on a par with Wimbledon as a club

Hard to know where we go from here. 
Having our two best midfielders out was a big handicap, but  even so that was an utter shambles, almost as bad a Spurs.

With Downes and Fernandes out,and Brentford’s ability to break at speed we should have been much more conservative.

What more is there to say. Abysmal. The worst away team in the league (tied with us obviously) came here and could have won 8-0 with better finishing. In theory that was probably our best chance of a win for the rest of the season.
