I thought Norwich's Sargent went to Wolfsburg, but apparently he didn't go. We should be all over that.

Not a chance we’re chucking £20m at a striker when we already have loads.

We've got rid of loads! We're a week away from the start of the season and we haven't exactly set the world on fire with new signings, infact, this summer feels just like last summer in that we haven't brought what's needed, again!

And we could do with getting rid of more.

ABK, Taylor, Fraser, Aribo and even BBD can all go too.

Outside of GK and possibly AM (although Fernandes will likely still be with us for the first game or two), our starting lineup is good enough to start the season. Hopefully it will be improved further by the end of the window. Still another month to go.

What a bunch of fannies, Jesus. Let's at least give the club until the end of the transfer window and the manager a decent run of games before we start wetting the bed.

If we don’t beat Wrexham Steel and Spurts will have failed

Yet another player given away for an absolute pittance.

But it makes sense though you can’t just keep adding players, we’ve got 6 off the Books with another 2 going soon, brought 2 in plus the returning loan signings. We have a load of players good enough for championship but not good for the premier league.

Exactly this

Good god this forum is hard work to read, reality is if we lined up right now, despite the differences in ours and Wrexhams transfer activity we STILL have a better team on paper

Despite everyone thinking Archer is completely toothless, the bookies STILL have him as top scored favourite, or there abouts

We’ll spend when we know the make up of the squad, every season we get the same ‘buy early’ clap trap, and every season we don’t, its as if clubs strategise later buys to ensure they get the best deals

I simply can’t judge where we are until the end of the transfer window, but as it stands, we’re ‘rightly’ favourites for autos along with Ipswich

Joke. We never extract the amount we should. SR and Spors out.

I think we wil lose Fernandes and Dibling but if you listen to this whole segement it seems a fairly measired and accurate summary of where we are.

Will be interesting to interpret Still's view on incomings when asked post match tomorrow - he was clear last week that we need to see more stuff happen and I guess on outgoings it has this week.

Broja to Burnley 25m how far has he fallen think injuries taken toll

From one low league table team on loan to another lower league table team permanently with a couple of lower league table loans in between. So not that far

Completely different climate to 2011. That's almost impossible to do now.

It's probably even harder now to sign Prem-ready players when in the Championship. The gap has widened

I honestly couldn’t give a toss in general about all this, I won’t lose sleep over it like some do on here. 😂

Would I have preferred us to have a good squad going into the season with a number of changes - yes of course.

But as long as we have a good squad come the end of the window then fine, imagine the panic buying should we lose to Wrexham, Pompey and Ipswich 🤣

I don't think we should be signing prem ready players I bthe championship. I'd like to see us try to keep hold of a couple if we get relegated.

Burnley paying £30m Inc add-ons for Broja, are they fucking stupid

I mean once upon a time, some on here were absolutely fawning over him, a guy that scored no more than maybe 8 or 9 goals for us, all in a purple patch mid season, and was missing for the final three months of it.

Burnley are more than welcome to over pay for him. 🤣

About £25m would've been the going rate for him after his loan with us, purple patch or not. That's just what any semi-proven striker costs in the PL. But to pay that after the time he's had since is just crazy... they must have been properly scraping the barrel

30m for Broja 😦. You'd think Burnley would have learnt their lesson from last time, but no.

Their recruitment has been poor, particularly compared to what Sunderland have done. Sunderland having a real go at it, which is what you need to do

So are we saying it was good we didn’t sign him for similar fees when everyone was lamblasting the club for letting another one slip through our fingers?

It's only good if we got a sell on fee for him, otherwise our loan dealings are shit.

Burnley in 20th I’d say. “Parkerball” won’t cut it in the Premier League despite their impressive defense in the Championship last term. Of course still a month until the window SLAMS SHUT so this is practically the ramblings of a madman

Regarding losing our best players it is what it is.

Looking forward to this season, however if we get promoted then what ? Don't know about you but I've fell out of love with the Premier league, it's a circus....

the premier league isn’t much fun anymore, but it is where you need to be to avoid becoming progressively weaker. You just can’t afford to get stuck in the championship for too long.

It kinda works both ways though. Yes we might not have signed players in time for these games but we might also still have Fernandes.

Maybe worry about the PL another day? Winning games at this level is going to be hard enough.

I totally agree with this statement. What exactly was our track record against lower league sides in the Cup competitions last season!!!

We are losing our best players and still have so much dross to shift with little quality left behind. I honestly think we could be off to a very bad start to the season.

So what you cannot do anything about it as there is no fucking guarantee that the team you support has to be successful

Even with the "dross" we still have a very good championship squad - the only major concerns for me this season are a decent keeper and some creativity when Fernandes and dibling inevitably go. Defensively we look ok, the central midfield engine is pretty strong at this level and we have plenty of players who can score in the championship.

Next season however we need to start thinking about and we really aren't anywhere near other than Ramsdale maybe coming back.

Personally I'd like to see a European Super League so 4 or 5 of the teams can fuck off. Then, if you win the PL, the lowest finishing English team (and Italian, Spanish, German etc) gets relegated back to the PL and that team replaces them. It then replaces the Champions League which has lost its lustre.

Ah, the traditional summer transfer window where we all turn on each other as we watch our best players depart as we miss out on a succession of targets.

The transfer business is all a sideshow though. What matters is what Still has managed to coach into the team since he arrived. It sounds like they will, at least, be fitter than they were which is a positive. Hopefully we'll be harder to score against and put up a fight for the whole game. The big worry is whether we can create enough.

Yes, but after 2 of the last 3 seasons it's easy to understand why we don't believe we can have nice things.
