He does, but the post was specifically about CFs that helped us get promotion. Were we already in Div1 when he signed?

Ok, missed that. Yes Ron arrived for 66/67.

I didn't see much of them last season. Did they actually replace Dewsbury-Hall?

Tbf they’ve lost the GK, Ndidi and probably El Khannous, also Fatuwu is being watched and they are legitimately skint

Not sure whats happening there really, could go either way

That sorts out Ipswich's finances. I wonder how much they will have to spend on a replacement or have they done that already?

With their track record, I wouldn’t rule them out going for anyone we’re in for late on.

Their forward three still looks good. Would be nice if Fatawu was bought by someone.

yeah, both are going to be looking for wide attackers. I wonder if our request for £50m transfer fees while the have sold for £37.5m might help them win if we were both going for say a Man City or Chelsea youngster?

Their academy players are top notch.

Ben Nelson, Wanya, Mcateer, Monga - they won't miss any of their players, that cohort of academy players are top level.

unfortunately not. The source is in the club and yes they would know about any transfer dealings going on. Said person thought that once the player in question is announced that i would be excited about it! For very obvious reasons no more questions were asked.

So who would you get excited about?

Gilchrist from Chelsea has been mentioned on here a few times, but he looked average to me at Sheff United in the games I watched. I didn't see a player good enough to make the jump to the PL, which might make it viable, but I am not excited by that signing.

I wondered if Josh Achempong might be an option?

I saw some chat on twitter, it was in Marca, who said we'd tried and failed with a loan deal for Atletico Madrid's right back, Nahuel Molina, which would be quite frankly ludicrous. I fail to believe it even happened.

He might have dropped out of favour, but you don't tend to depart Athletico for a championship side.

Ah all the ITK’s making an appearance as the window draws to a close 😂

Jokes aside we’ll probably get a young Premier League full back on loan, seems most likely. Otherwise maybe someone from Ligue 1?

Ipswich will have a minor fill once they get their £40+ for Broadhead and Hutchinson, but I think Saints are a better prospect. Just look at the stadium, the facilities, dare I say it even the playing squad.

Our squad looks stronger by the day.

I don’t see Leicester losing Fatawu, El Khanotscoreagoaltosavehislife or Mavididi before the deadline.

Ouattara £42.5m...it seems that potential comes at a price.

I have a feeling we will see some increased bids for our two stars in the not too distant future.

Did he even play that much for B'muff? Honestly, Dibling and Fernandes are bargains at £50m in comparison to him and Hutchinson imo...

I like the look of that Louis Patris (obligatory YouTube highlights video caveat).

I'm sure Sugawara also looked good on his highlights video though, so who knows.

Never judge a book by its highlights video 😅

He scored 7 goals in 32 Premier League games last season

Never heard of Louis Patris or the club he plays for!  Sounds like a shit move given he was on loan from Anderlect before signing to his latest club. Suggests he would not be such a great choice for us.  It seems clear we are after a right back.

Transfermarkt has him scoring some goals (a hatrick against Forrest) when he played CF, but at the start and end of season they played him wider and he didn't really score from there.

Brentford see the potential and are willing to pay the inflated but going rate. Everton will come back and do the same with Dibling.

We wont be signing him, the RB deal is sorted.

Not strictly true - we’ve signed Downs and Quarshie, both of whom have seen first team action. You could also say (I wouldn’t 😉) that we have two great new pseudo signings in Baz and Charles coming back into the first team. If you’d have said we’d failed to sign anyone that raises the overall quality of the squad I’d have to agree with you wholeheartedly.

Been ruined for those that wanted it by the constant berating. It sad that people who share information for the benefit of the others are given such a hard time by a few jealous and bitter individuals with agendas.

Have to say I thought the same about Gilchrist.  He's a converted CB and looks it.  No doubt would probably be a better defensive option than someone like Sugawara but there wasn't much that I could see that would suggest anything particularly dynamic about him.

Seemed to start OKish at Sheff Utd and then got injured but never managed to get back into the team. Suggests that Sheff Utd didn't think that much of him either.  If anything I'd say he was more suited to a right sided CB position than a RB or wingback (and we've got enough options for that position if we wanted to play that way).

I watched the play off final, and afterwards I thought that I couldn't tel you who the Shefield United full backs were, they had made so little impact on the game.

Think Choudhury played RB in the final but that kind of proves the point - they preferred a midfielder out of position to Gilchrist.
