Lord Duckhunter Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago It’s gone. There’s no chance Millwall won’t beat Oxford at The Den if a win takes them up, zero bloody chance. 3
Pilchards Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Anything is possible. WBA beat Ipswich on Saturday then we need to beat Ipswich and put a few past Preston then all eyes on Millwall and Oxford while we hope Ipswich don’t dick QPR by too many. Edited 17 hours ago by Pilchards
Saint_clark Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Just now, Turkish said: Even in Millwall lost we’d still need to win our last two as their goal difference is a lot better Absolutely, my point is I could see us winning those two and Ipswich dropping points elsewhere, I can't see Millwall dropping points again. 1
Sheaf Saint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Just now, Turkish said: Even in Millwall lost we’d still need to win our last two as their goal difference is a lot better No it's not. They're on 13, we're on 20. 1

CB Fry Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 1 minute ago, Willo of Whiteley said: It’s amazing how one point really makes such a difference from “ITS OVER” to “ITS ON LADS” 🤣 Well, one point is plenty to finish second rather than third.
Jimmy_D Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Big part of the reason Millwall struggled tonight was the injuries to their attackers, just need to hope they have 'one of those days' against Oxford now, assuming we do our bit to take it to the last day of the season.
Turkish Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 4 minutes ago, Sheaf Saint said: No it's not. They're on 13, we're on 20. So we need a 8 goal swing in two games. That’s lot. 1
RedArmy Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 6 minutes ago, Sheaf Saint said: No it's not. They're on 13, we're on 20. 24*
Lord Duckhunter Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Ipswich need 4 points, QPR home is a gimme, so they need a point tomorrow to make our game pretty irrelevant. WBA need a draw to ensure safety. I know what result my moneys on from WBA Ipswich… 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Just now, Turkish said: So we need a 8 goal swing in two games. That’s lot. Indeed. And for us to now match their points total it would require them to lose to Oxford, and for us to win one and draw one of our remaining games. So there's no possible scenario now where they finish above us on GD. 1
Sheaf Saint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 4 minutes ago, RedArmy said: 24* Yes, my mistake. So an even bigger advantage for us then. GD won't be a factor in whether or not we finish above Millwall. 1
Chris cooper Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Why is no one giving Oxford a chance ? they beat Wednesday tomorrow they will go to the den with confidence & a chance of staying up ! West Brom need to beat or draw with Ipswich tomorrow.. .. Tuesday I think we beat Ipswich under the lights at st Mary’s …….. it’s not over yet ! enjoy tomorrow 💪🏻 1
LiberalCommunist Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Ca sera sera....... But, I won't be sad if Ipswich end our unrealistic chances of sneaking into the top two, and grab the points today. I feel it would benefit us to actually know how the calendar unfolds before the Tuesday evening game. Losing Downes at this stage, while still desperately chasing wins could well have a detrimental effect on our finish. It could also lead to more injuries/suspensions to key personnel. If its taken out of our hands today, it may well help our preparations to navigate the play offs successfully. It also leaves Millwall and Ipswich fighting it out until the last, which will have an impact on the one that has to deal with the disastrous failure of finishing third. This should not be underestimated. It feels strange writing that, as up until the Bristol City game, I seriously thought we were going to have the dream ending to the season, and snatch that position from them, when it seemed impossible just a couple months ago. Whatever happens. What a season. What a turn around from the doldrums of the previous 18 months. All credit to the club.
Willo of Whiteley Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I think we’re all but out of the autos, we certainly will be come 17:00. It’ll simply be a case of hoping too many things going our favour. We need to just do our utmost to finish third in order to get the home second leg draw - more than likely against one of Hull, Wrexham or Derby. Regardless of where we finish what a phenomenal achievement to even be within the chance of the autos at this stage, given where we were when Tons started and even after the dodgy Christmas spell.
sockeye Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago being out of the autos isn't a bad thing, because going up through the playoffs is more fun than 2nd 1

obelisk Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Probably a bit early for Ipswich to be handed their penalty kick yet.
Matthew Le God Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago As things stand Saints will mathematically qualify for the playoffs today 1

OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago What we could do without is Middlesbro sneaking in to 4th and us finishing 5th.

But if not, then we have the tiniest hope and will keep things interesting! Beat them on Tuesday it would be an amazing last day of the season with 2 teams on 80 and 2 teams on 79.

I reckon that's what's happening now. We'll put everything into today, and mess up on Tuesday. 5th is horrible. Saturday lunchtime home match kick off for playoff. 1

Saint_clark Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Waiting for the inevitable last minute Ipswich penalty.
obelisk Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago WBA seem to have run out of puff. Ipswich getting on the ball and have it in the net but offside.

bpsaint Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago Shame to see Boro picking up a bit of form tbh, they were wobbling not long ago.

Not necessarily. They are 5-1 up now. Wed have to beat Ipswich by two clear goals to go above Boro going into the last day. 1
obelisk Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago Ipswich drop more points then. Not even a penalty to help them grab 3 points.
BotleySaint Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago 1 minute ago, obelisk said: Ipswich drop more points then. Not even a penalty to help them grab 3 points. It's shaping up to be a nerve shredding final game. We just have to beat them Tuesday and then.. anything could happen! 2

Unfortunately what I'm worried about is City destroying us today, losing Tuesday to put us out of the race for 2nd and then being out of form and low on morale for the playoffs. 2
Saint Pete Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago Ipswich really wobbling. If we can just beat them, preferably by a couple of goals, it would make it very interesting on the final day with 4 teams within a point!
