Correct, you were. Which of those two things isn't true and why?

I was being sarcastic. We've been lied to over and over again. We'll get some panicky signing on the 11th hour and "our hands were tied", "he's young and guaranteed to improve". All that shite.

What had Spors lied to you about over and over again?

The club, SR.

What's so fucking great about this Spors fella that guarantees goals goals goals?

Got to admire your optimism but I haven't seen anything change yet.

I didn't see tonight's game but reading between the lines of the MBM I read it was poor performances all round, including the referee.

No VAR so at least if we score we can look at the lino and then cheer without waiting 5 minutes for a debate to take place.

I shall miss Glenn's VAR transcripts on L1-10.. 😉

Why are you judging someone on the actions of others?

Ref was crap both teams just physically battering each other. Not much football and dodgy penalty at end although Dykes arm raised was tough on Brum

Buzzing for tomorrow. After the horror show of last season, it will be great to have some excitement and expectation that we might win some games!

Yep the ref let too much go to start with so it just got more and more physical which helped Brum as they were pretty cynical and pushed the boundaries a lot. It was a pen, Dykes shouldn't have had his arm out like that, bit harsh but every team everywhere would be furious if that's not given.

You can get Wrexham to win at better than 4:1 if you're that sure! I'm looking at Ipswich at 2:1 to win though, can't believe Birmingham are favoured to win that 🤔

They nearly did!

What a guy Matty Fernandes is by the way. His head could have easily dropped last season. A 20 year old in a new country, talented footballer, but put in a team that loses every week. Most of the other more experienced heads gave up, but he kept going every week.

Now, this summer, again, he could have easily got straight on the phone to his agent and demanded a move. He could've joined all the other footballers in 2025 who say their head isn't right and they don't really want to be at their current club, so sit out of preseason and the opening games in the hope of a move. He's the most talented player in the squad and has no business playing in the Championship. But, he's available tomorrow. Even if it's only one game he's shown himself to be a classy person on and off the pitch during his time here.

100% agree with that! I live in hope that he’ll stay. If he does, he’s going to be one of (if not THE) standout Championship midfielders of the season.

Any overseas Saints fans on here know the best way of watching Saints games live?

I tried the Saints channel last time we were in the Championship and it was a disaster. Ended up with Brave Browser and chancing Saints games were covered...any better suggestions please?

P.S. I hate lunchtime games - 4.30am in the morning for me!

I've switched from FUBO (Premier League games) back to DAZN (Championship games). But DAZN only shows Championship matches that are presented in the UK by SKY Sports. As it stands now, they have ten games featuring Saints scheduled between now and the end of December. Last time we were in the Championship, as I recall, they did not show as many games from January to May. It's an expensive option, therefore. About $250 CDN for the length of the season. For the games not shown on DAZN I listen to the audio commentary done by Adam Blackmore and Joe Tessem. You subscribe to that through the SFC Club website. That's it, I'm afraid.

No need for the "by the way", you are bang on, IF Saints keep him the season is going to be AWESOME just watch him and ignore whatever else happens.

Paramount Plus here in the US are streaming lots of Championship games....all 4 August games involving us, plus the league cup game on Tuesday. Hopefully they carry that on throughout the season, I think they will. $7.99 a month, $60 for a year. You'll need a VPN.

Alternatively, I think you can sign up to the UK site for £4.99 p/m and switch on a VPN to get access to the US content. Works out cheaper.

Very much looking forward to the match today, albeit somewhat nervously. I really don’t think Wrexham will be a pushover and I reckon there will be nerves among the Saints players. I just hope we can score goals…we need a win to kick off the season.

Trains are working! At least no engineering works on the Brighton line, I've checked every day for a week! 😉

How much of that lengthy build up to kick-off will be a Wrexham love-fest I wonder? 😵‍💫

There’s 2 other matches kicking off at 12.30 on Sky+ so those will be included as well in the 11.00 build up. As you say though I expect it will include disproportionate coverage of the Wrexham ‘story’ 🤮

Hmm. Alfie house predicts Fraser in the ten role. First wtf moment for me from still if that happens. That's not worked at all. Fernandes further forward with the kid in cm if Downes cant play with Fraser on the wing.

It will be interesting to find out who we have who can score goals. The only player who really looked a goal threat in pre-season was Jay Robinson. The last time I saw Saints play Wrexham was in August 1979 and we beat them 5-0 in a Tuesday night League Cup game, then beat Liverpool, the team that would be champions that season, 3-2 on the Saturday. We certainly had some goalscorers in the McMenemy era.

For no reason other than we beat them 5-0 all those years ago, if Jay Robinson plays, I expect (more hope really) we'll win by at least 2 goals today.

He has been trying him there but have to agree it will be a mistake because he's past his best even at this level.

Agreed. I thought the only time Fraser looked decent in preseason was when we went 5 at the back against Brighton and he had a bit more room to roam.

I hope we start 3at the back. Means Ronnie starts. Other formations I fear he does not.
We’ve looked so lame in attack all pre season - apart from the last 30 minutes v Brighton when we went 3 at the back. Fingers crossed because it will attack the crap out of Wrexham if we do. As we should.

Thought Ipswich were very average, but its early days and they got a point.

Some of the balls from wide for Birmingham were superb.

I hope we stick with four. I can't stand 5 at the back, and a good 20 minutes against Brighton's sub doesn't convince me it's the way to go.

The other question is where are the chances and goals coming from?

Fernandes on the bench is a pretty clear indication he's off, not just protecting him but also we won't want to get a false idea of how our team performs like we did with JWP and Tella last time.

Would rather see Wood in for Stephens and Downs in for Fraser but hey ho. In still we trust.
