He didn't really do much wrong at all today and yes, I endured watching the entire game. He puts in an effort, he just can't pass the ball accurately enough. Definitely wouldn't compare him to BBD, at least Suguwara looks like a professional footballer. 3
SWLondon Saint Posted Tuesday at 20:49 Posted Tuesday at 20:49 I mean, if you're going point the finger at anyone, it has to be our front 3 who were bloody awful, couldn't hold the ball, no threat - the only one who gets a sort of pass is Downs as he's new and looks nervous. BBD and Archer have no excuse. 3

Give it to Ron Posted Tuesday at 20:55 Posted Tuesday at 20:55 Well that was a painful watch - they had 2-3 good chances we probably had 2. Suga unlucky to hit post. Nothing coming forward Downs worked hard but not sure on quality. BBD was abysmal just not got it anymore looks a beaten player. Wood was good but my MOTM again was Manning didn’t put foot wrong and good in air. Terrible ground fans tried but sometimes players need to get fans going but we were in training mode not get injured apart from Matty 4

S-Clarke Posted Tuesday at 20:59 Posted Tuesday at 20:59 That Wrexham game was mad. 3-1 down on 90mins, drew 3-3 and won on pens. 1
macca155 Posted Tuesday at 20:59 Posted Tuesday at 20:59 Ipswich not exactly brushing Bromley aside. Behind on Pens atm . 1

Midfield_General Posted Tuesday at 21:05 Posted Tuesday at 21:05 (edited) Could be worse. Could have just lost to Bromley, like Ipswich have. So they will actually go into our game looking worse than us. Edited Tuesday at 21:07 by Midfield_General 12

saintant Posted Tuesday at 21:07 Posted Tuesday at 21:07 Ha, Ipswich lost to Bromley 4-3 in a penalty shoot out. That jerk Hirst missed his - wonder if he went to his fans arms outstretched and said, 'That's what I do' 🙂 2
bpsaint Posted Tuesday at 21:08 Posted Tuesday at 21:08 Shame the skates are out, fancied a repeat of 2003 when we drew them as a warm up to the league match. That was dreadful tonight, only plus is that it’s extra fitness for the squad, but we look seriously short of cohesion. I hope Spors has a few signings lined up else this could be a long season. 1

He’s not horrific and good enough for this level. I’m not sure Baz is the issue at the moment - McCarthy made one good early save but his handling was horrific and led to THB having to bail him out.

ant Posted Tuesday at 21:21 Posted Tuesday at 21:21 (edited) On the plus side, we didn't join the 5 Championship teams that went out to lower league opposition. Add in the the 2 all-Championship fixtures that happened tonight and the 1 all-Championship match tomorrow, and that's at least a third of our division out at the first hurdle. Avoid a Prem team in the next round draw; go on a nice little cup run; forget tonight ever happened. Edited Tuesday at 21:22 by ant 5

Tbh it wasn't just him tonight, we didn't pass well at all because we were outnumbered in midfield and had no presence up front at all. Our pass stats were 300 successful out of 390 which is about 76% aka shit all round. The 'passes' that bothered me the most were the front 3 trying a bunch of 1-touch layoffs which pretty much all went wrong and gave the ball away. Just take another f***ing touch! 3

Yeah, take your point and agree entirely about midfield. It concerns me if Will Still and Trollope couldn't see what was happening - we'll not get away with that sort of midfield against Ipswich on Sunday. 1

SaintBobby Posted Tuesday at 21:30 Posted Tuesday at 21:30 Pretty abysmal. Disjointed and error prone. Upsides? Hmm…does Fernandes starting make it a bit less likely we are selling him? Ok…that’s a bit of a reach, maybe. Other upside for me was Ryan Fraser. Very good again. I’m thinking he should be in the starting XI but confess I have no idea where I’d play him (right back?) 1
Lone ranger Posted Tuesday at 21:41 Posted Tuesday at 21:41 When he hasn’t fallen out with his manager Ryan F is a real asset. He busts a gut, harries and hassles, is strong and masses of experience. Let’s stop knocking him and try loving him. 7
Suhari Posted Tuesday at 21:43 Posted Tuesday at 21:43 Can only echo the previous posts.... Very disjointed; I don't get how he was trying to set up. Little fluidity apart from the goal, which was a pretty tidy move. On the plus side: a win, some minutes for a few who likely needed it, and our fitness seems impressive. Hopefully it's a case of 'work in progress!' 2
qwertyell Posted Tuesday at 21:45 Posted Tuesday at 21:45 Thought we were absolutely minging. Minutes into the legs of a few is probably the only positive. Kit looks all right, I guess. 1

At the risk of being anal, last season we made it as far as a QF at Anfield. However, as you say, any win is clearly an improvement on the Gills game, or even that dreadful Grimsby game in the FA Cup the year before.
Jack Posted Tuesday at 22:03 Posted Tuesday at 22:03 Just back to the hotel after the game. 1st round cup ties are for learning a few things about your side and I hope we’ve learned this: - BBD is still shit - 3 at the back is unnecessary against 1 up top - We’ll need to be far better on Sunday - Northampton is more of a shithole than Southampton - Matty Fernandes will score a goal for me 4

Andrew Watson Posted Tuesday at 22:09 Posted Tuesday at 22:09 That really was a dreadful watch. Whether it was complacency or just the fact that some of theplayers are just are not good enough [ more likely the case ]. We will not be picking up many away wins if we cannot play better than that, the passing in particular was atrocious. 2
Lighthouse Posted Tuesday at 22:12 Posted Tuesday at 22:12 4 minutes ago, ErwinK1961 said: At risk of being even more anal, it was at St Marys True that, fair point. I'll always maintain that ANY cup win will do, just get into the next round, that's all that counts. Even our run to Cardiff in 2003 included a stoppage time equaliser in a dreadful home performance against Millwall.

He looked laboured in preseason and was worried his legs might have gone, but he was bright and sharp against Wrexham. I don't want to see him at right back. That position needs addressing in this window IMO.
gio1saints Posted Wednesday at 06:25 Posted Wednesday at 06:25 Any news on Ross Stewart? I thought it was odd him pulling out in warm up when he must be desperate to impress. Let’s hope not too serious. Mind you I think he’s dodged a bullet not playing! Not that he would have fancied Right wing was it all that much?
